The eyes lightly opened and shut again. Then a blink, then two, and then at last they were completely open. He looked around and saw very unfamiliar surroundings. But before he tried to get up, he tried to think. How did I get here? And where is here?
He traced over the events that he could remember in his mind. After leaving the Manor he headed home, and slept very late. Following that he arose and went to the arena and talked to Jaycy for a bit. A sudden sick feeling washed over him at the moment he thought of this; he remembered what had happened to her and how he was powerless to stop it. He had agreed to visit her while she was refereeing in the Outback tonight. So after she left he
went back home. And then...
He blinked twice.
Nothing.
He tried again, searching his brain for some clue as to what happened last night, but all he could find was... Nothing.
I can't remember.
He shuddered a bit at the thought of what might've happened that he would not remember such a long period of time.
He sat up, but then, as soon as he did he felt a wave of dizziness and nausea wash over him. And his head hurt, especially the back. He laid back down and it went away.
He waited for someone to come along to help him, because that was all he could do.

Again the eyes opened and Zen awoke. He was feeling exhausted, and was completely unaware of the time of day. In fact, the same questions came back to him: Where am I? He lay on the bed staring at the ceiling for a while-- it could have been minutes or even hours, he couldn't tell. Then a sudden surge of resolve entered him.
I've gotta find out what's going on.
He sat up, the dizziness returning to him, although it was not as severe as earlier. He closed his eyes, and thought one thing: Fight it.
He moved off the bed, and as he stood up, the feeling became worse than ever. He opened his eyes to see in front of him, and the pain returned. He slowly struggled to walk to the door, missing the handle a few times with his right hand while his left hand braces himself against the wall, before finally grabbing hold and twisting it open. He stuck his head out and noticed the stairs leading down. He stumbled his way to them, lurching and
weaving as he moved. Indeed, anyone who saw him at the moment might have thought him very drunk, had they not known the cause for his discomfort.
He grabbed the stair rail, and stumbled down the stairs, eyes barely open, nearly falling more than once. At the foot of the stairs he stood upright again and opened his eyes just enough to look around, nearly overcome by the dizziness and nausea.
Ahh, so I'm in the Outback.
He frowned. But why? And how did I get here?
The only thing that occured to him was that he was visiting Jaycy like he said he would. But then what? What happened that he would've been holed up in an upstairs room? And why didn't he remember?
He stumbled his way out. Gotta get home, he thought... but first I'll stop by the Arena, to see if anyone there knows what happened.
He never noticed the giant scar covering nearly his entire wrist.
