Neither are you. The difference is that he doesn't claim to be one.

Ah yes...

Again, a series of questions meant to enlighten is turned into a pile of nonsense.

Grow up.

Doh.

I guess I was being something of a doofus there, especially since I'm one of said barons.

I apologize. Though I still would like Methous to deliver me these words of which he speaks, in person.

As far as the actual question at the start of this stack... I'll have an answer soon.

Allright, this is what the Baron's title meant to me.

~Why did I challenge for it?

Because damnit, it was fast, fun and easy.

~What did each challenge mean to me?

It meant another person to kick back down into place

~What did it mean when I lost the ring?

It was more of a question mixed into a feeling. How the hell did I fail?

~What did it mean when I failed at my re-challenge?

Again, more of a question mixed with a feeling. Goddamn it Varro, how the hell did you beat me again?

~In the Overall sceme of things, now that I look back on the experance, what did holding the Baron's title mean for me?

Absolutly nothing, in the honor, responsibility, crap upon crap sense. But, no one is allowed to erace my name off of the Baron's who've held the 10'th Ring, so basically, I feel immortalized.

~What does my challenge to the Overlord mean?

Becoming a greater immortal than I was when I wore the jewlry. Crowns are more stylish than rings.

~What does it mean to be Overlord?

I'll answer that after tomarrow.

Well, because I am a former Baron, and, perhaps more relevant to the matter at hand, a man currently bidding to hold such rank for a second time, I should probably speak up.

1) To be a Baron is to be a leader of the Duel of Swords, even more so, it is to be a representative of the Duel of Swords community. When you are a Baron, people expect to be able to respect you, and if they find they cannot, they are sorely disappointed, with good cause. To be a Baron is more responsibility than fun and games, it is the duty to bring honor to the Council, to the sport, and to the Ring you hold and it's heritage. To attempt to live
up to the high standards of they who have preceded you.

2)I'll go with everyone else in saying this: Every challenge is different. You have Warlords who challenge out of honor, a test of skill and valor to the Baron...Warlords who dislike the Baron personally, or disagree with them politically,...or Warlords who just want what you have.

To say being a Baron of Swords is to be a leader is crap. Barons don't lead crap except whatever whim they have in judging what happens to another's career. The Baron's Council is nothing more than a Kanagroo Court full of elitists snobs half the time who like deciding other people's fates.

My idea of being Baron is probably similiar to Aggy's, it Immortalizes you forever in the history of the sport. It's just a stupid game in which you win stupid prizes for proving you could beat someone in a particular duel one day.

The fact that the Baron's Council was formed is a total farsa and stain on the history of this sport. They should have just created titles one could achieve like Overlord to show prowess of skill and not giving them pseudo rights and powers to exercise like they were someone who mattered. They should have made the qualifications to become titled ranks harder to make them more special or worth more.

Instead you have people like Jaycynda who are Baroness, and people like SilentCris who became Overlord, who's skill on average is below par for a "Warlord" class dueler. Or people like MorganFay who only show up for Tourneys and get a prize until they lose their first challenge. No, WoLs, should not be the end all be all of a dueler, but they should incorporate more of the Warlord Rankings into the qualifications. Things like you can only be in
the Tourney if you have enough duels to be in the Blue Bracket, or only able to challenge if you have peer wins and your percentage is atleast above 50% and such like that.

When I am Baron I don't care if people respect me, because respect around here is about as fickle and giving as sap from a maple tree.

M'lord no offense as to your quote but if she won that title its fair and square and belive that she will be a good baroness. If she won the former baron for that ring then Skill she must have. Well to get to the point she won it, it was her goal and challange and i plaudd thee Jaycynda for achieving yer goal.

Then you have people like Elijah who come back every few months, bragging about the old days, or how many WoL they have, or how many times they have challenged/won a challenge only to leave in a fit of rage and pique because they got their feelings hurt.

If you find the notion of the Baronial Council to be so corrupt and such a bane, why do you try so hard to get on it?

I think it is really funny how you go everywhere else to get your facts rather than the source, Elijah. Each day you show how much of an emotional baby you are. I think the majority of your brain (or air) oozed out the day Michael Jones cut off your head.

Elijah's new motto: "don't confuse me with the facts, it's much better to just make things up."

What's wrong with them, is wins all you see?
At one time you were a baron, what makes you any different? You also ask what have I ever done?
Not much, except try, I've been here a little under a year, you've been here a little over 6 years, you've had a little more time to do something's, than I have.

Goddess

Be well aware that the Baroness Jaycynda Asleana didst achieve her 'goal' by issuing invalid challenge and didst further seek to hide her perfidy from all until her perfidy wast brought before the community. She didst lay the blame upon her servant, saying said servant didst, without her knowledge, seek to overturn the proper ruling of the then standings keeper, Master Evermeadow and didst receive from the now retired Lady Helix Girvin a
'dispensation' from the rules of engagement. Be well aware that the holder of the Third Ring ist a deceitful wench with nae the fortitude to admit her disdain for all the traditions and honor.

The Baroness didst state that "Barons and the Overlord are beholden to the DoS Community more than any other, and the rings are, for the Barons, a physical reminder of that commitment." May every day that the Third resides with her be one of woe and sorrow.
The Council wouldst be better bereft of one such as she than to be whole. She dost hold herself most high to believe her presence honors either the Council or the community for it stands out ast a taint upon the honor of these ancient halls ast well ast dost tarnish the Third Ring. She sought only for her own self aggrandizement a place in the history and shall ever be remembered for the deceit and corruption by which she didst gain the Third Ring.

I do call upon Master Golden Evermeadow to set the question of Madame Jaycynda Ashleana's right to hold the Third before the Council, for t'was nae a Council decision which didst permit Madame Jaycynda Ashleana to gain the Third. I seek nae for anna Council decision to be overturned, howe'er, t'would behoove the community to hae the question of the blatant flouting of the rules of engagement by the former Supervisor, Madame Helix Girvin questioned
and adjudicated. Twas nae a matter of interpretation of the rules of engagement, this instance wast in clear and blatant violation of them.

Then you find people like Morgan, that haven't been kissed like they should be, in a long time.
