He laughed as he read over the various posts concerning Warlords getting into the Baron's Tourney. At the time, he just couldn't resist putting a comment in.
"Amazing.
For so many years everyone has argued over semantics and exactly what practically each and every rule means. Now we have a rule that's incredibly clear cut. Plain as day, and I quote:
'Should the Overlord retire a tournament of all Barons will be held to determine the new Overlord. The impending Baron vacancy is filled by the winner of the next scheduled Warlord's Tournament.'
And now we have people that want to change just about the only rule that isn't ambiguous. Don't any of you have day jobs?
Having fun at the bottom of the Standings again,
Nova Grey Shadow
P.S. I'm a ranked Commoner. Can I get in on it, too? I used to be a Warlord ... c'mon, let's be fair."
He walked off, away from the board, laughing to himself all the while.
"Next thing you know, they'll be deciding the Overlord by popular election no matter the rank."
He paused then.
"Nah."
The door closed behind him.

::She was tired after a very trying shift, and the other things that had happened that day... so she probably shouldn't've even bothered to read the message board, much less respond...::
Hmmm...
I'm inclined to agree 110% with Rix here... and even more-so with Nova.
But, if you don't want someone to hold a ring, or be the Overlord... but you can't, or won't challenge...
Then convince someone else to challenge! There now, was that so hard to think of?

It may be tough luck...whatever. I just got the impression that it didn't matter if you thought yourself incapable of the title at the moment and just challenge.
And about convincing someone else... I don't pressure anyone into a challenge. Should be their choice. ~No wise words there.

Summer lounging under the stairs as dear old Nova muttered to himself. She waved a hand, trying to capture his attention, but he seemed lost in his own thoughts. She did overhear him mutter, "Next thing you know, they'll be deciding the Overlord by popular election no matter the rank."
As the door closed behind the old man, Summer smiled and nodded, "Now I always been one ta support somethin' like tha'."

If you are going to open up baron's tournament to warlords, why not include former overlords? Heheh.
Personally, I think baron's tournament is for barons.
That is why I now have eight peer win.

Everyone watch the rats scramble for the bit of cheese that fell from the table.
Lets the barons fight it out. If someone unworthy happens upon the crown, they probably wont last long anyway.
In any case, in what way will they make a worse Overlord than Agrenish? The best thing he did was give over the title.

Just because something may be "clear cut" in the rules doesn't mean that there will never come a time when those rules are not in the best interest of the community. So, if we have six barons decide to abstain from the tourney, then that makes it ok to have the remaining seven vie for overlord? Maybe so, but I don't think so.
Luckily I has no ambition to be overlord, it is the end of a duelers career in most regards. We'll just have to see how it goes.
Nova, no matter how many times you leave and come back with a new look, a lost identity or whatever it is that you feel is in style to get attention, you've always been a snapper head.
Drake, there is no prestiege in being a baron anymore, unless you're senior like Jeff. Barons rings are as common as there are peer win seeking former overlords who couldn't cut the mustard in the first place.
Peace and love,
BRK
