To all on the issue of the "crown",

No actual Overlord crown has ever existed in the Swords community, and certainly never one sanctioned by the official Swords officials at anytime through the history of the sport. Yes, some duelers, have had their own creations made to represent their achievement and status. In every reference I have seen an Overlord make of the "crown" it was methaphorically speaking. As in "the weight of the crown", etc. "Crown" often simply being referred to
as their importance of their title and the general heavy responsilblities that go with it.

Well, gee, Kempai, I must have been *imagining* that crown. Feh...not that it really matters.

Dal never had, nor claimed to have, a crown.

Creating an item to represent a rank that has never needed a symbol is an affront to the former holders as well as belittling of the title itself.

An overlord should and must be remembered for the acts he does, no a piece of metal on his head. For any future overlord to expect, or feel the need to have a crown screams of the need fo an illusionary crutch to replace some lack of personal notability. If a man cannot head the community on his own merits then a piece of tin on his nugget won't help him one darn bit.

Billy

Indeed, nae at anna time hae anna Overlord, save the vainglorious Eros De Burgo deigned ta wander 'bout wearing a crown. Th' title ist verra oft metaphorically referred ta ast 'crown' or 'mantle'. Madame Silvertree, at no time during his reign do I recall Gnimish Gnimoi wearin' anna crown. Perhaps the gnome wast sportin' th' crown 'o Shylasa. Perhaps Eros hae crafted one for his reign. I know nae where he obtained th' one he didst wear.

Thank you, everyone, for your posts.

It seems most likely that the crown that Agrenish mentioned was indeed the one that Eros DeBurgo had crafted... assuming he did indeed have one crafted.
The only reason I mentioned it's existence is because Agrenish mentioned having it mailed to Warlord Miyamoto. I can only suppose that he received it from said Warlord upon defeating him for the title of Overlord.
I will investigate further into this matter and attempt to discover the origin of this item, to return it to it's rightful owner.

I fully agree and support Billy Ray and Jonalyn's statements about "Overlord crown" issue.

Billy Ray,

I mean no disrespect, but I feel a need ta correct yer statement. Dalamar *did* have a crown. He allowed Miss Aislain Dulce Uziel ta wear it during a TDL match, at which time Aislain took on da title Overlady Pirate Princess. Many were present at da said match, as was I, and can attest ta da fact a material crown existed. Whether Dalamar created his crown or had it passed unto him from Athlstan in private I cannae say, but I do know a crown
existed during Dalamar's reign at least at one point.

>>Dal never had, nor claimed to have, a crown.<<

Well, Billy, I guess I was imagining things in the time that I was living with him, aye? He never mentioned it because it wasn't that important to mention he had it.

To all who are interested, there is a crown. Of its origin I cannot say as I did not make it. Because such an item is not known to the Shogunate I made no inquiry of it after defeating Condextint Montoya and never wore same. However, Agrenish had a crown delivered to me with the claim that it is the overlord's crown. It remains in the shrine at House Miyamoto until such time as winner of barons tournament
makes claim to it.

A simple observation: Why is it so terrible to have a crown for the Overlord, yet the Barons have special rings, and no one says a thing?

Well Jeff, if you ever find a pertinent reference to Dal wearing this crown during a duels sanctioned match then I'd be inclined to consider it. Whatever goes on in TDL is apart from DoS and Dal always was whimsical like that.

Sid writes:

Sid, you've imagined alot of things that weren't true. I've known Dal a hell of alot longer than yourself so I'm not totally out in left field when I say he's never had a physical crown in public that he considered part of the Overlord title.

And although I can't say I'm not trying to be rude here, but the fact that you bedded the man doesn't mean you really know all that much about him, does it? You two were together for a relatively short period of time, and men don't confide all in their women, especially one he really hadn't been with long.

If you really want to settle this I can try to find where he's buried, did his damn corpse up, get CryptKicker to reanimate it and we can ask him ourselves.

I'm game...besides, he might have some spare change in his pockets.

According to Morgan (I wasn't there, unfortunately until it was too late), Dalamar's body disappeared. It has never been found, much to my sadness.

And, if it was around, I would never go "dig it up" and therefore desecrate and disrespect him for the pointlessness that is asking him about a crown that really doesn't mean a damn thing.

Let him lie in peace, wherever his body lies. Whether or not he had a crown is not that important. Perhaps the crown I saw was not the Overlord crown. I never asked.

Madame Elgarette

Thee aire indeed imagining thin's. Tis perhaps in thine senility thine memory fails thee. Perhaps during thine madness thee werenae cognizant. Ne'er from th' eve 'e didst gain th' title till th' eve 'e wast taken moribund from th' ring didst Dalamar wear or claim ta hae a crown designated ast that 'o th' Overlord. Eros Hunrai Marzanhe De Burgo, th' vainglorious drunkard, be th' only personage wh' presented himself in public wearin' a crown. Tis
Eros wasnae e'en aware thee an' Dalamar werenae wed, for I do recall 'im referin' ta thee ast Dalamar's widow. Perhaps he shared thine madness. Tis nae knowin' where Eros obtained th' crown he didst pranced 'round wearin', bu' rest assured 'e couldna hae obtained it from Dalamar nor from anna previous Overlord. Methinks were Dalamar's spirit ta be aware 'o such folly, 'e wouldst roll thrice o'er in 'is grave ast certes wouldst th' gran' Siera.
Tis a wonder th' stones 'o th' basement dinna ring out wi' laughter at such folly, th' or weep for th' farce th' th' title hast become.

Dalamar ArD'aumon wasnae th' sort 'o man wh' needed such trappin's ast a crown. Nay wast anna previous Overlord in need 'o such outward trappin's ast a crown ta add ta 'is or 'er stature ast Overlord. Ne'er didst I witness th' spaniard, Cristian de Oro, wearin' such.
