On this eve did I witness a match for the possession of the First Ring of the Duel of Swords.
The Challenger this night was Steven Lynn Glowacki, former Baron of the Third.
The Defender of the First Ring this night was Loyal Baron Zafiroo Turidan, who placed a very close second in the recent Tournament of Barons.
The Baron Turidan fought under the Royal blue banner trimmed in silver... he wielded the Corundum Sword, and fought for no Lady. The Warlady Spike u'Shell stood as the Baron's Second.
The Warlord Glowacki fought under the colors of Red, White and Black... he bore a common Broadsword, and he stands alone, with no Lady or Second.
The duel was a bloody display of courage and skill, neither duelist willing to give ground to the other at any moment... and progressed as follows:
Ring of the First, Round One.
The Challenger begins both cautiously and audaciously, dropping back a step and raising his blade... His defence perfectly held to keep the Baron's assault at bay.
( SH-TH ) Point for the Challenger.
Ring of the First, Round Two.
From offence to defence, the Baron draws back from his Challenger... Drawn in by the move, the Challenger strikes forward... Only to find the Baron's blade ready for such an attack.
( LC-FCP ) Point for the Baron.
Ring of the First, Round Three.
Refusing to give ground, the Challenger continues to press... The Baron, for his own part, drops his own defence and presses forward as well. The Challenger strikes hard and high, but does not escape unscathed for the Baron has moved his blade out to strike low.
( HC-LC ) Points for Each. Tied at Two.
Ring of the First, Round Four.
Having found the range of his opponent, the Challenger continues his assault... The Baron, however, has other ideas... his blade moving in a new pattern... And the Baron's strike is swift, cutting short the Challenger's attack.
( LC-TH ) Point for the Baron.
Ring of the First, Round Five.
The Challenger recovers quickly from the blow, trusting to his intuition as he returns to the fray... The Baron, perhaps daunted by this, moves to a quick defence... But his defence is ill chosen, for the Challenger's blade catches him before he can escape.
( HC-FSS ) Point for the Challenger.
Ring of the First, Round Six.
The Challenger's pattern continues unbroken... his blade moving in a downward arc. The Baron, seeking only a continuation of the match, brings his blade high... But cuts are not traded, as the Challenger attempted a defence this round.
( FCP-HC ) Point for the Baron, 4-3 the Baron's lead.
Ring of the First, Round Seven.
Undaunted by the score, the Challenger continues to press his assault... His blade moving in a swift arc of steel, and yet... He fails to notice that the Baron is heedless of the attack, bringing his own bladeto bear. And with the crossing of cuts, the duel is concluded.
( HC-LC ) Points for each, win to the Baron.
Thus, the Loyal Baron Turidan defends the First Ring by a score of Five to Four in Seven hard fought rounds, as witnessed by myself.

I am sorry I was unable to attend, by accounts I missed a fine display of skill by both participants. Congratulations to both.

After her quick egress the evening before and a long tiring night, she strolls back into the arena to check out the "daily news". Flipping through the stack she comes across the results of the match.
"YES!!!!".
Looks left, no one.
Looks right, no one.
Snickers maniacally and goes to collect on her wager.
