::noticable smudges of ink mark the paper well showing who wrote it::

Lords, Ladies and the rest o' ya'll denziens that dwell 'ere....yes, its that time again...the cycle turns 'ow it will and the call goes out fer the Warlords ta take it ta the rings again fer the Warlord Tournament!!

Bearin' in mind the various festivities at this time o' the season, the Tourney Date 'as been set ta the 13th and 14th o' September. Timed ta start at 9 o' the clock (est) there may be a short grace period o' 15 minutes...mebbe, so dont risk it eh....ta finish roster checks and matchups if needed. Please try ta get there 10-15 minutes ahead o' time so we can get started as quickly as possible. Afore ya send in yer entrance request, please bear in
mind that the tourney usually runs late inta the 'ours o' the night on both nights.
'member that it will run two nights.

This will be a double elimination styled event wi' registration till the 10th o' September. At the end o' the time will the standin's fer that week be used to verify Warlord rank and eligibility in the tourney (standings as posted on the 10th). Registration will be limited to the first 32 WL's ta enter. Upon receipt o' the request ta me, ya will be sent a missive confirmin' placement. The standby roster if needed will be limited ta 10 only. Matchups
will be made prior ta the tourney ta make the start time a short one. If fer ana reason the one yer matched up does nae show fer the event, ya will be placed wi' the next warlord open at a close matchin' rank to fill in ana 'oles. The Warlord's Corner rankin's will also be o' the 10th. Pairin's will be set afore the first night o' the tourney but will nae be announced till the actual call to the rings...so dont ask fer 'em.

If fer ana reason ya request ta be dropped from the roster whether afore, durin' or after the tourney 'as begun, ya will nae be allowed to re-enter fer ana reason. So dont ask.

Tis time fer the best o' the best ta step up and shine, fer this tourney we 'ave a few goodies fer ya ta contemplate...there are two Baron's Rings ta be offered as prizes ta the ones worthy nuff ta take them, in addition to the Intercession free attempt wi' the o'erlord.

Til then....I 'eard there is a renovated practice area setup outside o' town ta 'one yer skills...complete wi' sauna and bar...

If I am not a baron at the time I would like to register for the tourney.

Thanks for putting it on a Monday and Tuesday again. While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it! Geez. Get a clue.

Just curious,

Why is the Tourney being held so late into a new cycle? It kinda throws off the whole patterns of how things are supposed to be done. The cycle ends the end of August, the Warlord's Rankings are usually for the whole cycle, except for the last week of the cycle, for the next cycle's Warlord Rankings. And then the Warlord's Tourney is held the last week of the regular standings cycle? May I ask the reasoning for this tourney's scheduled time?

Ta be brief...the last tourney was 'eld durin' a festive time o' the season and it was nae seen favorable to o'erlap the tourney wi' the 'olidays..mana complaints were dealt out and listened ta. Seein' as the first days o' the month are towards the weekend when I can nae e'er get callers ta work the tourney cause o' shifts aready spoken fer and the next Monday is slated a 'oliday fer mana, includin' maself, it deemed only fair ta 'old it
as such since I among others would nae be available the first Monday and Teusday o' the month

Personally,

The Swords Warlord's Tourney has always been held every cycle on the last Monday and Tuesday of the last month of the cycle. The Warlord's Rankings are always calculated and kept from the last week of the last month of a cycle to the same week of the following cycle for purposes of the Warlord's Tourney seedings. This is established tradition of the quarterly tournements for this sport. There should never be any reason why this alters, not for
holidays, not for the other sports, or anything else. The Swords Warlord Quarterly Tourneys were taking place before any other dueling venue had theirs. This event should take prescedence over all others and should stay within the traditional times. People gather and travel from afar to celebrate these moments in this sport. In case people need to be reminded, I post the usual schedule.

Winter Tourney, End of Febuary.
Spring Tourney, End of May.
Summer Tourney, End of August.
Autumn Tourney, End of Novemember.

Like so many other things, it seems tradition suffers here as well.

The records of the past tournaments seem to be missing, but from what I remember, the WL tournaments were not held on exactly the same weeks of the cycle. The records that used to be there I remember showing that the tournament would drift farther and farther into the month when there were only two months per cycle. With the WL tournaments happening randomly every three months, and moving them always later instead of
earlier, I think one was lost somewhere. With the advent of three month cycles, however, I can't see it happening, so at least be glad for that.

Another thing that I thought was brought up for the last WL tournament was staggering the times on the first day, for a number of time-related reasons. When the suggestion was put forward, I thought it was waived for the upcoming one then due to lack of prep time, but was it just completely forgotten about for this time?

Walker,

Even with the two-month cycles of the Standings the Warlord's Quarterly tournements were held in Febuary, May, August, and Novemember on the last week of those months. The first Tourney of the Orignal Nine started in Febuary and have been on that schedule since then. The Warlord's Rankings always ran in conjunction with those Quarterly tournements despite the Standings cycles, because of their purpose for tourney seedings. I am quite sure on
this aspect of the sport.

Walker...I 'ave nae a memory o' ana askin' bout staggerin' the times fer the last tourney since none asked me. The times were altered 'owe'er due to numerous complaints and gripin' at the start o' the tourney so actually the start times were staggered which caused numerous groanin' and complaints. After a few rounds there were warlords complainin' that it 'ad gotten late and they couldna stay and so on. I refuse to let that 'appen this
time 'owe'er and it was nae forgotten about since it was ne'er asked o' me.

What I find most saddening is the fact that no matter what anyone does anymore, there are those who find nothing but fault with it. No matter what. There is nothing wrong with the times set for this Warlord Tournament, nothing at all. It fits the needs of the callers, takes into account the holiday and works best for everyone. So chill out.

It is the nature of the Duel of Sword's message boards. It isn't the Duel of Words at this board, but instead, the Duel of Whines.

You do realize that just because a tournament was previously held at a certain timeslot doesn't set it in stone, right? That this time is better for most duelers and callers?
Great, now I need a double-footnote to put in a stupid and/or witty saying. "Shut up and duel!"

What you don't understand is, that's precisely the Duel of Swords. Plus, there is only a minor amount in my mind of whiners. What do you think this cork board is here for? We all have our opinions. This is why I happen to love the Duels.

I find no fault in the tournament and welcome it with open arms. Hush, E. :)

The whiners, while maybe a mere 10% of the Duel of Swords, make 90% of the posts.
