Percy,

Tis thee wh' be conveniently ignoring th' facts. Wast it nae Madame Jaycynda Ashleana's own hand wh' didst write the challenge? Her servant dinna write it, laddie buck, she did. Madame Ashleana returned to Rhydin th' afternoon 'o th' verra day she didst later fight th' match an' didst speak at th' time 'o th' match takin' place at some future date. Mine eyes dinna deceive me nor mine ears when she didst speak wi' th' then Baron, Evan in th'
basement.

Nor am I mistaken in th' she didst hae 'er servant ta deliver 'er challenge by her instructions. Thee certes dinna thin' fer one moment 'er servant didst undertake 'pon 'is own ta deliver th' challenge. He wast certes instructed by Madame Ashleana ta do so. Thee claim 'er servant asked th' advice 'o th' co-ordinator, yet thee conveniently seem ta fergit, th' th' standin's keeper at th' time hae denied 'er challenge. Tis simple logic, Percival.
Wherefore wouldst 'er servant seek ta hae a decision o'erturned, lest 'e or Madame Ashleana were nae pleased wi' bein' denied 'er challenge, fore in t'was on th' face 'o it, an illegal challenge by' th' verra rules 'o engagement wh' govern all challenges. Wherefore wouldst 'er servant seek special dispensation fer 'er if th' challenge hae been properly issued?

Thee conveniently fergit th' Madame Ashleana be an' official 'o th' sport, an' certes wouldst be expected ta be well versed in' th' presentation 'o challenges, nae t' mention th' obvious fact th' she be a warlord an' hae striven ta earn th' bona fides wi' which t' issue a challenge. Or dost thou now claim fer 'er th' excuse 'o ignorance ast thou dost claim fer 'er servant? Madame Ashleana hae denied bein' made aware th' 'er challenge wast invalid.
Kindly dinna take us all fer th' fools thee wouldst wish us t' be. Common sense, Percival, ist somethin' thee seem t' hae given short shrift. Tis utterly droll th' thee castigate others fer presentin' improper challenge yet defend th' same in Madame Ashleana. Mere mistake, a catchall fer all th' ills wh' permeate th' basement? By thine logic, none shouldst be made ta answer fer a 'mere mistake. Dalamar shouldnae hae been censored fer th' 'mere
mistake' 'o nae arrivin' fer 'is challenge. Methous shouldnae hae been stripped 'o 'is ring fer th' 'mere mistake' 'o nae arrivin' fer 'is, nor fer th' 'mere mistake' 'o desecratin' th' Eighth Ring. Elijah shouldnae hae been penalized fer makin' th' same 'mere mistake' wh' Madame Ashleana an' 'er servant made. Lucian shouldnae hae been stripped 'o 'is ring fer t' 'mere mistake' 'o nae arrivin' fer 'is challenge. Shouldst none be called ta account
fer 'mere mistakes', anarchy wouldst certes reign. Perhaps tis thine wish, Percival, anarchy an' chaos, an' standin' silent whilst th' verra thin's wh' once didst seem ta be 'eld in 'ighest regard, truth, 'onor, sportsmanship, fall by th' wayside ast so much dross.

Tis amusin', Percival, th' thee wouldst wish t' facts t' be denied. I am well aware 'o precisely where Madame Ashleana claimed t' hae been in 'er absence from Rhydin. Thee may cry unta th' verra skies ast loudly ast thee wish, yuir grace, yet tis th' facts remain. Madame Ashleana in concert wi' 'er servant didst present an' illegal challenge agin all th' rules 'o engagement. Agin e'en th' simplest precepts 'o 'onor an' sportsmanship which thee,
Percival, so loudly declaim, she didst obtain th' chance ta meet th' then Baron Evan fer th' right t' 'old th' Third Ring. Thine hypocrisy be glarin', yuir grace. An' 'er deceit an' dishonor yet taints th' Third Ring. Tis perchance Madame Ashleana's example be wh' hast set th' example fer others. Truly a sad state 'o affairs, an' e'en sadder th' one 'o th' nobility wouldst 'old th' such behavior ist t' be lauded an' nae decried.

>>Thine hypocrisy be glarin', yuir grace.<<

I am afraid I would have to disagree, even with such a formidable expert on the subject of hypocrisy as yourself. You can believe what you like, as you obviously do. You can ignore whatever facts you wish to ignore, as you always do. I don't see a need to say anymore on the subject. You can't do anything but repeat yourself, and I see no need to repeat myself.

Percy,

Tis nae a matter 'o belief, tis a matter 'o facts. Nae surprisin' thee wouldst nae wish ta restate yuirself since thee hae chosen t' disregard th' facts ast confirmed by Madame Ashleana 'erself.

Having thought on this and many other subjects for some time, I can only state what I've stated for the entirety of my term as Standing's Keeper, and even before that.

One should not rush a challenge. Give thought to it.
One should never challenge with only ten peer wins, it shows a form of greed in the act.
One should never stand by the display cabinet, waiting for the moment the Standings are posted so that one might issue challenge. It shows disrespect for one's opponent.

If you fear that someone else might challenge the person you wish to challenge before you do... perhaps you are challenging for the wrong reasons. If you are challenging for the purpose of removing the holder of a ring, then it should not matter if someone challenges before you do. If you are challenging based upon sportsmanship, there are certainly other Barons who are sportsmanlike as well.

I certainly do not ask anyone else to follow my path... If someone does so it is because it is their path as well, not because I asked them to.

What if you do not get a chance to duel very often? I know some Warlords duel two, three, five times a week, some people just can't.
I plan on challenging for my two year anniversary as a Warlord. If I were to do it with 10 peer wins I won't feel the least bit greedy, 2 years wait is long enough I think.

What if you're challenging because of something personal? Disrespect? I don't think so, it shows impatience maybe, but maybe the situation demands such impatience.

I think this is way off base. My opinion only here, of course. But if it's personal that's *more* reason to be upset if someone has challenged before you. If someone has insulted me or one of my loved ones, I want the "punishment" to be dealt by my hands and none other. There is no "at least he's/she's being taken care of." There can't
be.

Please note this was not a personal attack, it's rare I feel the need to voice any opinions on anything but cookies, but somehow this spoke to me.

Red.

You know, I challenged Var because of a personal matter... and if Lupton had defeated him before I could press my challenge, then I would've taken my issue with him to a more personal venue.
For me, the issue was one of betrayal. I felt that he had betrayed the trust and friendship the two of us had long had and I was hurt by that loss. So I, in turn, intended to show him how much that hurt.
If I am insulted by someone, I will take my complaint to them directly... while it is certainly possible that a challenge for a Ring might help amorialate such a situation, personal honor is best satisfied by personal means. It does not take a challenge duel to duel someone who has insulted you.

As for not getting a chance to duel very often... I know exactly what that is like Red. In the five months since I lost the Tenth to Var, I have dueled fifteen times and have nine peer wins. And yet, I will not challenge without having at least twelve or thirteen.

As I said at the end of my posting, I certainly do not expect anyone to follow my path. What I do, I do for my own reasons... and what each other person does, they should do for their own reasons.

Possibly the answer could be found in how other sport's of a fiercely competitive nature punish those who degrade the icons or whatever is held dear by those that take part.

The council decisions are made by the council members, and until otherwise instructed, the members should come to a conclusion in whatever way they are accustomed to doing, using their own guidelines for what is wrong and right in certain events.

Well wishes,

Well, I have no morals, does this mean I can't be judged?
