I think we should name the Overlord crown, "Suz". As in 'pass around Suz', because this girl is getting alot of action with the guys lately.

I am sorry I couldn't be there tonight. I was swirled in absolute turmoil from early this morning til about midnight. I see you didn't need my prescence though..may your reign be long and prosporous, Overlord Eques.

Gunthar,

Well dueled, fine reign my friend.

After reading the parchment of Stormi's, she can't help but shake her head and murmur various things about the ever-changing Overlords.

Her feet take her from the boards to avoid eavesdroppers.

as he passes the cork, he finds it slightly amuzing at how after the crown is passed as of late, quite often too, that people frown upon all of the challenges. Though when the challenges are made so swiftly, though he himself cares little, nobody minds. Why is that? He ponders as he walks off.

Julian decided to take the time and check out this "war zone", as some have called it, and spots the challenge anbouncement, followed the sentimental crap he's seen elsewhere here. Unable to think of a witty comment, he continues on, wishing he'd been able to stay last night...

Magnus,

Congratulations on your victory. Then again, we always knew you could duel.

Folks,

I think it will be interesting to see what happens now. If Magnus's past record and words can be taken as evidence of the future, Intercessions won't be happening and there won't be any Testing of Challengers to the Overlord. It will be interesting to see if, under such conditions, Magnus will defend the crown with the same skill he has shown in the defense of the 13th ring.
I, for one, think that things may develop in a fashion worth watching. Whatever anyone's individual opinion of Magnus.

Indeed, I remember the insults flung by Magnus and his brother in the days of the late Dalamar Ar'Daumon's reign as Overlord, concerning Dal's position on Intercessions and Tests.

I will be watching to see if his words had any substance.

And I am sure he will not even think of offering the best of three option to any challengers to his title.

Morgan...

I realize you were probably being mildly sarcastic... but you know as well as I that once your average person has something, they do their drannest to keep it and will say anything to justify thier actions.
I truely doubt that Magnus will alter my opinion on this.

Drake,

I disagree. If I ever actually become Overlord I have some simple basic rules for my reign. No Intercessions/Tests of Worthiness. One duel take all, no best of three series. All Barons aligned Renegade. Simply for the sake I chose to try and reign like the Overlords of old before the Intercession/Best of Three series came into effect. Maybe some of those Overlords would have exercised those options given the chance, but I'd like to last
longer then Xeno's 6 months as an Overlord of old by not exercising those options. Or last longer and more challenges then Dalamar without sending others to fight for me. For me it's about personal pride of besting my foes myself regardless of the options. Like the upcoming Warlord's Tourney, I care not really what prize I end up with, just that I win for the sake of dueling reputation. That's why I have no respect for cowards who send others to
fight their battles and defend their titles for them. Whether I lasted one defense, a cycle, months, or years, my rules would remain the same, regardless of who challenges who for what titles. ALL DUELERS HAVE WORTHINESS TO GAIN TITLE IN SWORDS BASED ON THEIR SKILL ALONE, regardless of what people think of them. Swords is nothing more than King of the Hill, and if you can fight your way to the top then so be it. Leadership is not a factor,
because what is there to lead in a sport? Examples of Honor? Not everyone will ever agree on honor or what honor should be, and to me is not a factor in someone claiming a title. People will give all kinds of justification and excuses for challenging someone based on honor or whatever, but in the end does it really matter? No. The only thing that matters in Swords, is if on that certain day you can beat that certain dueler in a certain match for
the prize, rather than any given dueler can beat any given dueler on any given day in any given duel. All duelers are worthy, though not all duelers may be liked. Popularity should never be a determination of worth, but rather their ability to kick someone else's arse in the ring.

Question: What do you call a King of the Hill who is not smart enough to employ anything and everything he can to keep challengers from wresting away his claim to the title?

Answer: Ex-King of the Hill.

The race is on to see which hyuck-hyuck can hold onto the OL title for the least amount of time. You, too, can join this prestigous group by following the Sitting Duck Code of Conduct:

1) When leading troops into battle, the best place to be is right up there in front so the enemy can get a better shot at you. Make sure your loyal subjects stay far behind and make it clear that under no circumstances are they to try and help you. This makes it too confusing for your enemy and is not fair to them. All of your sworn enemies deserve the easiest and most expedient path to your claim. They work hard for everything else, grant them this
luxury.

Ignore those advisors who tell you the other side might have better strategy by keeping their leader back a bit guiding the troops with his wisdom and savvy. What do they know? They just are political schmucks who do not have anything better to do than try to make you think when you would rather fight.

2) When you meet your enemy on the battlefield in hand-to-hand combat, go ahead and hand him your crown before you start to fight. He has experience handling these ornaments and will take good care of it for you. He will be touched by your courtesy and respect for him. Be noble and tie one arm behind your back. This will relieve some of his stress. Your people will loudly cheer for you in response to your bravery.

Ignore the advisors who are telling you that the people are cheering for your death in hopes they might actually get a smarter leader. The advisors are just political leeches trying to confuse you.

I'm frankly curious why there is apparently so much opinion that Magnus plans to reverse his hardline stances now that he is Overlord.

Perhaps someone who is of this opinion might explain to me what he has said or done to warrant such.

No sarcasm here, just a genuine curiosity.

Morgana,

This isn't a battle of countrys. This is a sport where individual acheivement determines your status in the game. At least that is what the sport was founded on, before politicians ruined it with cowardice. King Arthur was foolish enough to send Lancelot to fight his battles. Gywn decided she rather have a man who would fight rather then send someone to fight for him. So hence, it's about reputation of personal worth and ability. Joan of Arc
led her troops into battle and they rallied around her banner at her bravery. All leaders die eventually, the one who leads their troops into battle is no different then the guy on the otherside of the field. One will win, one will lose, and fate should be determined by your own hand, not someone else's.

I agree with Elijah to an extent.

The Duel of Swords is a sport, violent and bloody, perhaps, yes, but still a sport. Not warfare.

Personally I didn't use the test because I wanted to be the one to fight. I had enough confidence in my skill that I could get it done. I was wrong, but I don't regret the decision. And I'd make the same one if we fought again.

That's the difference between war and this sport: In this sport, life goes on if you lose.
