Another retirement right after the loss of a title. It gives me a heartache when I consider how these "retirements" hold no merit to me anymore. What's even more sad is that the importance of the arena is limited to however long one can hold the title, in which after that people decide to "retire" and not simply "take a break" in which that's what they usually do.
In either case, well won Daelin. Glad to see you holding a ring again.

Gimmzak was trying to be less boring, Var. Unfortunately, his technique was an old trend by the time he used it.

I knew it wouldn't be long before Daelin would be a Baron again. Congratulations Dragonsblade, though I'll miss fighting in the tourney with you for the 7th.

Var,

I believe if you've been holding a title for as long as he had (or Jeff), it's quite alright to take a break. It doesn't necessarily mean he's just downright quitting because he is a poor sport. Give him some credit, he's held it over a year plus the time he achieved the peers wins and etc.

People can grow tired of a sport. Have you ever lost interest in something, but then in the future you just couldn't help yourself but to try it one more time for kicks... And just, fell back into the addiction of the game or whatever.

So what? He'll be back.

Before this gets down into some sort of bickering thing let me put a stop to it now.

I am not ending my dueling career. I am simply taking a much needed break. I have been here dueling for about 2 years now. I think I deserve a break. As of late it is no secret I haven't been around much. At this time I don't have the time I need to fully devote my self to the Duels.

Untill such time as I do have time, then I will return and we will see what happens.

As for Lup, dude, I know you have a very lovely lady at home, why don't you spend your time fussing over her, instead of fussing on how boring I may or may not be.

Not an attempt to nitpick, Gimm, but I just wanted to share a couple thoughts. Instead of declaring retirement, why not just say you're going to take a break? While perhaps it is none of my business, but I admit that whenever I read the words "retirement," it is one's plans to stay away from the arena. The concept of retirement, while sounding a lot like "taking a break" is a lot more grief invoking upon your friends, because they wonder if
you ever will come back.
While it's easy to see that I did jump to conclusions, I will admit that I don't think one should announce retirement after losing a challenge. I do agree with "breaks", as sometimes people duel so much they do need a break. Even then, I don't feel that a break is something so long lasting as a couple weeks, though for others it applies longer.
In either case, it's just another matter of personal opinion, I guess. Like I said, though, the words "retirement" hold little merit to me anymore.

Var:

Though I have my differences with the former Baron, I must defend him here.

He did state, when he announced his retirement, that he would indeed return after taking his rest, and hoped to once again hold the Eleventh. The would be no reason for his friends to "wonder if he'll return."

Drey,

Gimm didn't amass any peers wins to get the Eleventh. Although he's been her for a good 2 years. He won the Eleventh in a Warlord's Tourney. Just thought I'd clear that up. And as Ian said, Gimm said he would return after a break.

Like I said, I was probably jumping to conclusions; I was not there when he announced the retirement. My feelings still apply, whether or not it was Gimm or someone else who announces retirement.

Var,

Quit nit picking on a term someone decides to use to label their current status of their career. Everyone knows around here retirement usually means "taking a break" and that they will return. Perhaps instead of being so literal and fatalistic all the time, just relax and wish the guy well.
