Marius Duel: Director's Cut.
From: mariusix@aol.com (Marius IX)
Date: 15 Sep 1999 18:57:22 EDT
As I write this I cannot help but wonder what diety I may have offended for my luck to be so. It seems a week cannot pass without me becoming the center of some controversy or other. ::sigh:: I suppose that is just the wretched hand life has dealt me.
From the time I knew I was to recieve a ring, the thought never occured to me that my challenge against Zaf was still valid. When Ian brought up his point I had no previous knowledge that he was going to do so. I was just as shocked as everyone else.
I agree with Ian that the rules need to be made clearer, there has been too much confusion over various dueling aspects as of late. Beyond that however, any decision we, or the council, or the administrators make will be merely philosophical and technical in nature.
I do not now, nor did I ever intend to continue my challenge against Baron Zafiroo of the First. If it is deemed legal for my challenge to proceed, I hereby withdraw it.
Var:
"I would be honored to wear the ring AJ wore. If the one ring at a time isn't enough for Marius, or anyone else, then maybe they're not cut out to be a baron after all."
How dare you question my right to be a baron? I AM honored to wear the ring that AJ and many other legendary duelers once wore. I am deeply hurt that you would see fit to judge me off Ian's speculation without me having said a word about it. You were there last night in the arena when I announced that I had no wish to lodge a complaint against Zafiroo. From that
conversation where did you pick up that I was avaricious... no greedy enough to continue my challenge for the first?
In closing, if all of you wish to argue over the technical aspects and validity of my challenge, feel free to do so. I wash my hands of the entire affair.
Exhasperatively yours,
Gaius Marius Colestae'

I certainly hope this means you did not intend to continue your challenge after you earned a ring.

I guess I need to work on my revision skills to make sure that the right point is made. If you read another post from me, it was not a question of your worth.
Basically, you were the topic, regarding your right to challenge for the first. I said if you or any other baron did not feel one ring was enough, then they're not cut out to be a baron. You pointed it out; it was greedy. It wouldn't be for the community.
If you're hurt, though, there's nothing I can do about it. It wasn't meant to hurt you, but it was meant to serve as a hypothetical stance. In either case, if you're hurt by my hypothetical situation, you're going to have a hell of a time being a baron. There will people who won't like you, who will scrutinize you to the point of monitoring how much air you breathe.

I intended the challenge to be over and done with by the time the tourney came around which is why I challenged early on. It is because Zafiroo refused to set a date that I was annoyed and complained out loud. Ian heard and there you go.

I heard you too, and I also heard you say the situation with Zafiroo's out of your hands. However, I think the question was whether or not you'd press your challenge if you had lost the tourney.

Yes, of course I would have pressed the challenge if that had been the case.

Var, you are right. I should not be so thin skinned. While I do think you were to quick to attack me I myself was too hasty and defensive. I was just annoyed as to how everything I do seems to wind up being a huge controversy. I do not bear grudges. ::Sigh:: The path of my life is strewen with cowpies from the Devil's own Satanic heard...

NO, Var, Marius was NEVER the topic. I am utterly suprised at you, and a good deal disappointed that you seem incapable of grasping this.

"If" the one ring at a time isn't enough for Marius, or anyone else, then maybe they're not cut out to be a baron after all.
For one thing, he never said you would demand the challenge to proceed.

It should be Zafiroo was unable to make it prior to thrusday of the following week due to the fact he was not going to be in the area.
Just wanted to clairfy that I did not refuse to do anything.
I also responded within 3 days of the validation of the challenge.
And dont take this as an attack towards Marius as it is not.
