Results of Challenge for the 9th Ring (Gnort vs Galin)
From: rdimarit@aol.com (RDI Marit)
Date: 29 Sep 1999 09:16:53 EDT
Patrons of the Duel of Swords, Ladies and Gentleman of Rhydin,
I, Marit Takcouma, did on this 28th day of the 9th Month of the year 1999, officiate and witness the Challenge match between the Baron Galin Taelca and the Warlord G'nort Espelande G'neesmacher Dragoon Talanador.
The Warlord Gnort chose as is Lady of honor, his wife, Ariana. Lady Drakewyn Anastasia Alabaster-Silvertree stood to second him. His chosen colors were that of a dark blue and a shadowed gray and the house of honor was none other than Dragoon-Talanador. He dueled with his spiffy new hammer named "Skuld, The DeBugger".
The Baron Galin chose no Lady of Honor, but as his second stood Cletus Ganderfald. He dueled under the colours of Turquoise and Silver, the emblem of two golden fireballs streaking past each other and his chosen house of honor was Oor~Tael. He dueled with the short sword, "Disruptor".
Ring of 99, First Round: The challenge commences G's open.
His stance tis a stop hit...as he speaks..and Galin fancies a
duck..mayhaps to stop and listen. Nae a point fer either tis first
round.
Ring of 99, Round 2: The Baron's eyes take focus and he lunges
forward wit' his short sword Disruptor fer a thrust....
G'nort quickly spins his spiffy new hammer into a circular parry
and fancies the movement at that.
1 - 0, G'nort.
Ring of 99, Round 3: Along with the company of G'nort flashin
his usual smile, comes a high cut...
and in exchange...Galin cuts low. Each take a point.
2 - 1 G'nort
Ring of 99, Round 4: The Warlord and Baron differ ....
nae much on tactics tis time as they both thrust.
3 - 2 G'nort
Ring of 99, Round 5: Galin stumbles back and it seems it would
be easier to cut low from tis position. There it is! A low cut....
and so does G'nort arc his weapon in a low cut too.
Nae a point fer neither, this fifth round.
3 - 2 G'nort
Ring of 99, Round 6: Gnort does move forward....Aye...he does...
And forward too comes "Skuld, The DeBugger" ...maneuvering a
thrust. Galin fancy ducks tis. Ouch.
4 - 2 G'nort
Ring of 99, Round 7: With a grimace, G'norts expression seems to tell all....mayhaps, ...fer he stop hits. And Galin gains a point by low cutting.
4 - 3 G'nort
Ring of 99, Round 8: G'nort seems to 'ave that accent and
command ingrained into his haid...
He cuts high and Galin ducks down fancily under it. The match is
tied.
4 all.
Ring of 99, Round 9: And mayhaps more rounds....
G'nort swings out with "Skuld".....
and he swings ....ummmm.....low. Galin steps to the side fancily
to watch him win!
5-4 G'nort
And so may tis event be sealed by my hand and reflect that on tis evening wit' the date as stated above, G'nort Talanador defeats Galin Taelca, 5 - 4 in 9 Rounds.
The fourth time Baron aligned himself Renegade to Overlord Manus Eques.
Twas indeed a very honorable match between the Challenge and Challenged and one I 'ad much the pleasure to officiate and witness.

First I would like to thank everyone who made it to the match and cheered me on.
Second I would like to thank Galin for facing me in a very Respectable and Honorable way this entire time from the issuing of my intent, up until the the time he left the Arena.
Third, I wish to thank Marit for calling on such short notice (A day) and for doing such a grand job for us.
Finally,

In no way did I think or feel Galin needed to be humbled. The entire time he reigned as a Baron, he did a good job, I beleive. I hold no ill will to Galin, and In fact, I hope he makes an attempt at a rematch with me at some point, as I would be honored to face him again. I think Galin is a good person, and the remark about being humbled was uncalled for.

Actually G...
Wasn't that the same guy who said "Galin will eat you alive"? The poor sod can't make up his mind, it seems.
Truely a finely fought duel on both sides, much like when he challenged you for that very same Ring. A fine example of sportsmanship, honor and enjoyment of the duel from both of you.
Lady Drake, aka the Gryphon.

Yes, it was. And apparently, he can't. But then, consider the source.
