The green cloaked man entered the Arena, for the first time that weekend, he had planned to come and duel earlier in the week, mayhaps to improve his already growing record of successes against the sword-toting people he encountered there. He was different, he was an enigma, a prodigy almost. Not many people experienced his tactics, but he liked seeing the different variety of responses to it..some didn't even notice,
which he thought was pretty odd. His foot hit the bottom floor of the steps as he hit the last of those thoughts and he looked around. No one was around, and chairs were overturned from last night..he shrugged and walked around, a steady *clank* heard as his feet hit the solid stone flagstones, coming to the side of the Arena, his grey eyes did the work of his profession, scanning very quickly, memorizing details, even the most minor ones..then he
looked on the standings and a soft chuckle erupted from deep in his stomach, his stone grey eyes ran over the words again..just to make sure he read them right.

"Up and coming duelist of the week..Talroon Deadeye" he said aloud, this caused him to laugh again.

"What exactly is that..does that mean I get a flock of people to follow me around or what? This is rich.."

Hearing a soft scrape on the stone floor, he turns, hiding himself in the varying shadow of the wall..only to spot a young teenage kid with a rag..picking up chairs and dusting things off with a yawn. Smirking, the mercenary crosses the distance between them, silent..deading the *clanking* of his footfalls, something his military career taught him to do quite well..a few inches away from the boy, he grabbed his shoulders and whirled him around..the
kid almost fainted until Talroon's hard face broke into a smile and he said aloud his favorite phrase.."Bang. You're dead."

After the kid's initial shock wore of, Talroon explained how he wanted a copy of those standings and the kid nodded..not bothering to ask for a tip..in the meantime, Talroon wrote up a small piece of paper, reading over it before placing it in a corner of the boards, probably not to be read.

Attention Duelists:

I really appreciate being the "Up and Coming Duelist" if that's what you call it. I don't know about all this really. Anyway, just what do I get, besides my name on here..because that's on there all the time. I think I should get some sort of prize..maybe some free drinks, or some of the nice looking Here he pauses, thinking of a word that won't cause a commotion. PTSIZE=10>members of the female sex for a few nights, that'd be nice. I mean, I think it'd be nice, not that I don't appreciate the title..but don't you guys think it's in order, I earned it?

Talroon
Deadeye

Your up and coming duelist of the week.

With that he walks out, smiling..now he knows everyone will comment on how the new people are declining in honor and all this other sort of trash, that would be fun..

Oh yeah, he'd been watching this happen many times over..now he'd watch it again, from a new vantage point.

::Strolls into the Arena and sees the message by the up and coming dueler of the Week, having been in a sour mood since Friday his eyes roll slightly as he scans over the post, chuckling somewhat as he finishes taking in the post.::

Up and coming dueler of the week eh? Free Drinks? Women? For us that have already up and come what is the prize then?
I have never actually heard of a Baron or even an Overlord gaining such special treatment...

What do we respect more, a diamond in the rough? Or one that has polished itself through the sweat off it's brow and the blood in its veins. So congratulations Talroon, enjoy your title.

Comrade Talroon Deadeye,

You get the pleasure of being singled out for your better success than most of the other lower ranked duelers this week. And as your prize you get the chance to see if some Warlords or Barons would like to see how could you really are. Since from what I can tell of the records of duels you faught, you have yet to test thy steel against the higher ranked duelers. I am usually around Friday evenings in the Arena if you would be interested to test
the steel of the Baron of the Seventh.

Heh not bad for yer second week congrats again. Heh I guess Ecore only counts Overlord and Barons as higher ranks. Good luck to ye in yer future duels Talroon. I know ye dueled well in our duel.

Warlord Zamhulem,

Please tell me where I said I only consider Barons and the Overlord as higher ranks? 5 Commoners, 1 Swordsmen, and except for the Swordsmen, all the others with losing records account for this dueler's wins, and his one loss is to you, a Warlord. Perhaps Warlord Zamhulem if you read closer before commenting because you felt slighted, you would realize what I was talking about. If I were you I would be more embarrassed for losing to a guy who's
record is padded with losing Commoners, rather than worrying about what I consider as higher ranks.

For the record though, I consider Warlords, Barons, and the Overlord as the "higher" ranks of Swords. And I consider GrandMaster and below the "lower" ranks of Swords. It's a simple way to seperate for reference when dicussing the various levels of Swords, and my classification has nothing to do with dueler worth. Because obviously Warlord Zamhulem, if that were the truely the case, you got beat by a worthless dueler when you are supposed to be
a worthwhile dueler. However, Swords is a venue of any given dueler can win any given duel on any given day, it's the one's who win when a prize is on the line that history will remember best, or in some cases, at all.

Baron of the Seventh,
You speak in such a round about manner, I must as you to clarify for one who has not attained so lofty a position as yourself. Be careful, Baron... one so high should fear a fall from the heights.
In your previous missive to this board, you cited that this dueler's only loss was to Warlord Zamhulem, but then you say the Warlord should be embarrassed to have lost to one whose record is padded with commoners with losing records. Which do you believe to be true? The Warlord lost, or the dueler in question had his one loss to the Warlord?
On a separate note, do you not fear that if you lose to this dueler that you will be so embarassed as to walk from the Arena in shame?

E, he's been around for two weeks. What do you want him to do, shut out the Council? Talroon has potential from what I've seen, and is going at his own pace, which is a much wiser pace than everyone else seems to take.

First,

In no way was I trying to belittle the dueler Talroon Deadeye or demean his accomplishments. I apologize if that was taken as such for that was not my intention. My orginal missive to Talroon was to say if he would like a shot at something more challenging I would be interested in testing his blade.

Second,

Warlord Zamhulem was the one who responded to my missive about what I considered higher ranks. To insure I wasn't speaking out of my posterior orifice, I went and researched Talroon's actual dueling history to insure that Talroon hadn't beaten a Warlord or higher, for I realized I might have errored when I said he hadn't a chance to test the higher ranks by my personal definition. When I discovered that I was indeed correct that Talroon hadn't
beaten what I consider a higher rank, I replied back to Warlord Zamhulem. Obviously, Warlord Zamhulem feels slighted because being the only higher ranked dueler by my definition that dueled Talroon, he not only lost but felt like I don't consider him a high ranked dueler.

Warlord Zamhulem is obviously wishing to engage in a personal rivalry with me. Calling me out on my views and challenging me for my current agenda. Which I don't have a problem with and after I am done with Jeffery, I look forward to wiping the ring with him next. I am not saying anyone should leave in shame, I am just saying if you desire to step up and confront me, be prepared to deal with everything I have. If he wants to dance with the
dragon, simply beware the talons.

Third,

I don't consider myself so high just because I am a Baron, and I am not afraid of falling anywhere. I have always had the same attitude about myself and my place in this community regardless of what title or rank I hold. I've fallen to the worse depths of reputation in this sport anyone can I do believe. I have nothing to lose, and I have nothing to gain by any of my actions anymore. I am an island in the sea of duelers, I am alone, and so I
duel for myself and my own agenda.

As Guardian of the Seventh till Draco fails me,

Ok just for the record I didn't lose to him not saying he is not ver' skilled with the blade. Zamhulem def. Talroon Deadeye, 5-1 in 9 rounds. And as fer paddin with wins over commoners just look a the dueling results and ye will see I do not do that. Ecore I was just trying ta clairify that Talroon had dueled more than commoners . Talroon I commend ye once again on yer skill with the blade and congratulations again.
Thank ye.

Master Talroon.

By signifying your accomplishments under the title of "Duelist of the Week", I sought to show others that accomplishments in the Rings are noticed by myself and suitably acknowledged and praised.
If you prefer a few free drinks, I can understand and appreciate that. I'll leave some money with Hubie to cover your tab this coming weekend.
I acknowledge your skill and dedication.

Warlord Zamhulem,

To be short and to the point, you are a stupid moron. I didn't say you padded your record with Commoners.

I am sorry to say this, Zam, but you heard this from an expert on the subject. You will have to try to raise your IQ some.

Talroon rises from the table after a few hours of drinking the drinks that he paid for of course..mumbling something, he walks to the boards, his composure still in tact.

After awhile of standing there, he smiles over the variety of posts.

"Ahh..well..lemme see..what should I say now?"

He found the results of an old challenge and wrote on the back of those, placing it under the last of those papers..nodding..he then stepped back and walked around the Arena, looking for some more mischief.

Guys,

Hey can't we be nice? I mean this is a community..one where everyone beats others with sharp weapons, but does that mean we gotta beat others with words? Ok..enough of that, lemme just say a couple of things. Thanks for your offer Drake, but I didn't really want drinks, women would be nice..but near as I remember, your married..and I already got a collection of wedding rings, almost died getting them too..but that's another story.
And Baron Triple E, nice job on, if that's what you call it, complimenting it..But near as I remember, I was a Bowman and Commoner when I dueled those Commoners and Swordsman, since your a Baron would that be the same as you dueling a Baron and some Warlords? Wait..no that couldn't be right. Anyway, about the duel..well, I'll see you on Friday.
