Overlord match
From: shivblade@aol.com (SHIV BLADE)
Date: 04 Nov 1999 20:42:58 EST
Community,
The match will take place this Wednesday, the 10th. It will start at nine by the standard time. It should prove to be a great night of dueling, as I will be testing the baron. So come enjoy some great duels, and I hope to see you all there. The match will take place in the Arena. I should note that I have heard rumors of a new building. Some sort of dueling hall. While it may be built, or may be being built, I don't know. Perhaps it is only rumors,
but I should note, that if it was suitable to use, I would probably use it.

((A.N. I thought I just might add in the new room, starting it off as a rumor. Maybe we can get some RP going about how we find it or what not))

Well, looks like I can't be there to lend the underdog a hand so I guess he gets thrown to the wolves. I doubt anyone else will take my place in the matter and since I've yet to even speak with this Damien person concerning this matter, I doubt anyone will.
I will make a prediction though.
If and when Avery actually meets Damien for his title, the kid will win. All the odds are against him as well as all the support in the community. I know I always dueled better under those circumstances, maybe the kid has the same stuff in him. Then again, maybe not.
We'll just have to wait out this nadir of the overlordship for now though and hope for the future.

Since when do I have to know a person to have questions about them? I don't have breakfast at his table and I'm not the godfather of his kids, but I've used my eyes and although there isn't anything "wrong" with Avery at all, there's something about him I don't like as Overlord. Nothing concrete or substantial mind you, just a gut feeling.
One thing you may not know from what I've posted though is that I think him a competent dueler. Hell, he and I are on the same TDL team for cripes sakes! The man is a good dueler or I wouldn't want to be on his team.
Maybe as we roll to victory over all the other teams in TDL, I'll come to know him a little better. For now though, I keep my feelings in reserve.
It's not like Avery has ever approached me to see if he'd want to get together on this.
You may find my outspoken nature disturbing but at least you never have to wonder where I stand on an issue. I'm the most frank and honest SOB you'll ever meet.

Billy,
as you stated, you don't really know Avery nor Damien.
"Since when do I have to know a person to have questions about them?"
Because otherwise, the questions are very shaky.
First things first. You don't know Damien, but you know he insults(I hope). You don't know Avery, but "although there isn't anything "wrong" with Avery at all."
Nope. You've never really met neither of them, and yet, nothing is wrong with Avery, and Damien seems quite alright. Better than Avery, thus far. Why?
What's the questions with Avery?
And is there any for Damien?
Is there a reason for the challenge? (I hope I didn't miss it. ;) )
Have fun and win, Avery.
Duel well, Damien.

This is what I mean-- how well-founded can the questions be if you only know him in passing-- if even that well? Perhaps if you knew him better, that could answer some of the questions you have.

Some can just tell what a person is made of in one passing, perhaps that BRK boy is one of them. Often it is easily seen. On the other hand, he could be a complete fool. Either way it makes no difference on the outcome of the challenge.

::Reading Drey, Zen's and this Bozo characters posts and shakes his head::
Will someone tell the three stooges to shut their damn pie-holes?
Get a barons ring and Zen is suddenly a hot commodity?
Boy, I'll whip your ass with your momma strapped to my back so don't think you can't be dealt with.
The fact that any of you little turds have accomplished anything in this declining era of dueling skill in the DoS make me bust a damn gut.
Zen, for instance, was more likely to see the virgin Mary inside Prince Fyres cloak than get a well earned win for most of his career. The fact that he finally learned how to duel isn't all that surprising, a chimp can put out an intelligent sentence if you let it scribble with a crayon for enough time.
Just stop questioning why the hell I do what I do. Damn amateur psychiatrists.....go pick some flowers or hug a tree or something, damn pansies.

Having a hissy fit, Billy? Poor guy.
Can't think of anything to say besides all your hormonal ramblings? Awww. Whatsamatter? I'm really interested. Please, besides getting all pissy, answer the questions. Don't dodge them with "I can kick your ass, because your no hot shot, because "I big man" and I tough and no one beat me and and and" -- Shut up.
>Get a barons ring and Zen is suddenly a hot commodity?

What made you think of that? Just reaching for something to say? Zen's had how many now, though? 3 rings and the crown? But that still hardly matters.
You're nothing but hot air, casting random words out just to prove whatever point I have further.
Keep whining, Billy. I take back the 'shut up' part.

To the one known as Drey,
Try using this new pen, it may help you write something that makes sense.

Avery: Keep the crown. May your champion shed his blood.
Damien: Try not to embaress yourself too much. And oh yeah, I'm coming.
Drey: I applaud your courage saying a message that will be bashed, and can partly see it's merit, but ...forget your medication? Calm down a bit friend
Unknown Voice in this Argument: At least Drey's pen has the courage to sign his own name
Gnort: This isn't related to the topic, but slashes rule ; )

Courage? Heh.
Medication?
Anyway. It made perfect sense... I think.
All I want to know is, what's the questions with Avery? And is there any with Damien?
Why does he claim that he doesn't know neither of them, but nothing is -wrong- with Avery. - So he'll stand on Damien's part. I think I get partly that he thinks he'll win because the odds are against him, but I don't understand is 'why' he wants him to win.
Will this better the sport, if Damien succeeds? Hardly.

Ah, yet another "BIlly speaks, and people try to make sense of it using the entirely wrong value set" occasion.
Drey, Billy does what Billy does because it is what Billy does, and there's no getting around it. Sometimes I agree, sometimes I don't; this time, it's the latter. Still and all, inasmuch as there's nobody here with the brass to shut him up, my best advice is to just accept it.
As for why Billy wants Damien to win... he's already pretty much answered that, and his answer had nothing to do with either Avery's character or Avery's skill. I saw it fairly clearly; perhaps you might go back over his words more carefully, and you'll see it yourself.
Regards,
Ian Rex.
