~~Challenge for the 6th Baronial Ring~~

Baroness Simini of the 6th, Barons Council, Overlord Avery, Lady Drake, and all patrons of the Duel of Swords,

I hereby challenge the Lady Simini for the right to wear the 6th ring. She is a skilled dueler, for I've seen her in the ring many times. The reason I challenge, though, is not for personal scorn. I believe that she is a grand dueler and a challenge to beat in the ring. I mean no disrespect to Lady Simini, no disrespect at all. Quite simply I challenge to further my skills within the Duel of Swords and get a dream I've had since starting
nearly two years ago---To get a Baronial Ring. I am sure that we can get the challenge done quickly and honorably and that is all I wish. My peer wins stand below:

Lord Daryl Kyle
Warlord of the Duel of Swords.

1 Lord Daryl Kyle def. MadDwarf, 5.5-2 -- RDI Drake -- 10-14-99
2 Lord Daryl Kyle def. Drakewyn I 5 - 2 -- ((Caller Unknown)) --10-15-99
3 Lord Daryl Kyle def RLupton 5.5-3.5 RDI Kid -- 10-23-99
4 Lord Daryl Kyle def Secondat 5-3 RDI Silver -- 10-28-99
5 Lord Daryl Kyle def Skyler CJ 5. 5-4 RDI Fish -- 10-28-99
6 Lord Daryl Kyle def Cas Maxim 5-4 RDI Drake -- 11-5-99
8 Lord Daryl Kyle def Cletus Gandrfald 5-3 RDI Mystik -- 11-5-99
9 Lord Daryl Kyle def ANGELDST19 5-4 RDI Riever -- 11-6-99
10 Lord Daryl Kyle def Dae Dragonsblade 5-3 RDI Marit -- 11-6-99

I often wonder when people challenge for this reason. How does challenging increase one's skill? I understand that dueling one with exceptional skill like Simini can indeed lead to the betterment of skill on a duelists part; however why challenge when you could just get the duel in the arena on one of the many occasions that she is there? Hopefully someone can enlighten me on this one.

I've faced each of the baron's in the ring, all exept the Lady Simini. I've seen her exeptional skill in the ring but have never been able to get a duel from her. As said, I intend her no disrespect at all. We both are honorable people and I look forward to our first face-off. I've wanted to become a Baron for nearly two years now...for that is how long
I've been dueling...that is the reason I challenge...The Baroness and I have never faced in the ring...but I am impressed with her skill. The challenge I set forth is one of honor. It would be an honor to have our first match in such an important event.

You're okay, Daryl, but you've already heard my thoughts on this. I'll be pulling for Simini in this match.

But good luck to you both.

Baron Zam.

As has been said many times before... in a challenge match, people tend to duel much more intensely than they do in a standard match...
And it's certainly better than challenging because you always beat someone.

With practiced care, the features of her face remained composed, giving no sign of emotion within.

The crystal blue of her eyes, however, faced nothing but the corkboard, and she allowed passion to flicker in them a bit as she acknowledged the inevitable had finally arrived... a Challenge.

She'd been expecting one for quite some time, although she hadn't known from which direction it would come. Indeed, if anyone wanted to be a Baron, only a fool would not Challenge the Sixth, for its holder had been unable to keep up a record befitting the rank. That, coupled with an obviously shaken confidence, made for an easy target.

Air sighed softly between her teeth and she looked about the busy basement thoughtfully before leaning over to pen her reply. It was less personal than some of her other public missives, but it was all she cared to say at the moment.

To Lord Kyle,

I welcome the Challenge you set forth. Once Lady Silvertree has validated your request, I will be happy to work on setting a date amenable to both of us.

Respectfully,
~ Simini

She stepped away from the cork without a word. She'd already done the best she could by the Sixth... all she could do now was to continue.
