Methous,
Perhaps thee hae failed ta recall precisely th' parameters 'o yuir sentence. Ah quote from Master Evermeadow's letter:
"Starting today, August 23, and lasting for a period of approximately three months, Methous will not be given the opportunity to challenge for a title, be that Baron or Overlord. This banishment from challenging will last until the end of the next cycle, on or about November 30. During those three months, any victories Methous obtains against those of Warlord rank or higher will not be considered peer wins. This does not hold true for those
Warlords who defeat him, as those will be considered peer wins. Methous may retain his rank of Warlord, but cannot advance beyond that. After the three months have expired, which will be on or about November 30, he will be subjected to a test. If he passes this test, he will once again be able to garner peer wins and challenge for a title.
To elaborate on this test, it will be a one match duel. The opponent will be one selected by the Council of Barons and those members that it consists of at that time. Two to three weeks before November 30, these Barons will gather and elect a Champion for Methous to face, of any rank of their choosing. On a side note to the Barons, it may be sweet justice to allow the holder of the Eighth Ring at that time to face Methous in this test...just a
suggestion. If Methous defeats the Champion, then, as stated, he can begin garnering peer wins and challenge at his leisure. If however, the Champion is successful, then Methous will once more fall under the banishment of not being able to challenge, although he may begin accumulating peer wins. In this latter scenario, Methous must wait three more months, another cycle, before facing another test and another Council appointed Champion. These
tests will happen in three month intervals at the end of cycles until Methous wins one of these matches and lifts the ban from himself.
On a final note, Methous may enter Warlord Tournaments during this time of punishment, but is not eligible to claim any prizes, no matter what place he finishes in."
At present ye rank ast a Grand Master, an' ast such thee hae nae attained ta rank wh' wouldst permit thee ta be in a position ta challenge fer title. T'would appear that yuir request ta be Tested be premature. Thee aire nae e'en 'o ta rank ta be permitted ta enter ta comin' Warlord Tourney at present.

PS: Perhaps thee wouldst be so kind ast ta crawl back inta yuir grave an' spare ta community ta added stench.

Jona,
While I do not want Meth to hold the rank as much as you, I read the letter a couple times and had trouble finding where it said he had to be a warlord in order to be tested?
It says, "After the three months have expired, which will be on or about November 30, he will be subjected to a test. If he passes this test, he will once again be able to garner peer wins and challenge for a title."
No, he may not challenge for a title until he reaches warlord, but I don't recall reading anywhere, where it says he must be a warlord to be tested.

Galling as it is, I must note that Methous' rank in no way impacts upon the test to be given him. There is nothing which states he must be a Warlord in order to remove the interdict against him; should he desire the test, the Council should appoint its champion and get on with it.
I'd note, additionally, that the surest way of preventing someone from holding title is to prevent them from even having the opportunity to earn the right. This could be accomplished by the mere refusal of Peers to offer their blades to such a person; however, when a ruling has been made granting such a person a specific right to request a duel, that duel must be granted.
Regards,
Ian Rex.

Master Evermeadow's pronouncement wouldst seem ta presume th' Methous wouldst hae retained ta rank 'o Warlord, which ast thee be aware 'e hae nae.
Indeed, Master Evermeadow's pronouncement seems ta declare th' Methous mayest retain th' rank 'o warlord, somethin' Ah wouldst certes believe th' wast nae intended. Mind thee when ta pronouncement wast rendered, Methous wast 'olding th' rank.
Tis ast a Grand Master 'e ist nae able ta garner bona fides nor ist he able ta enter inta th' comin' Warlord's Tourney. Master Evermeadow's pronouncement wouldst seem ta presume th' Methous be a warlord for in th' ta enter ta Tourney th' be required. Where fore wouldst nae 'e also be required ta 'old said rank ta face a champion?
Indeed, Ian, ast Ah meself didst pen long agon, tis mine sincerest 'ope that nae anna duelist 'o anna rank wouldst offer their blade ta such ast Methous, nae jus' those wh' 'old ta rank 'o warlord.

Jona, it appears we are interpreting Golden's statements on different sides of the fence.
Golden stated that the only requirement for him to be allowed to challenge again, was that he had to pass a test issued to him after three month's time. Because Golden assumed Meth would keep his rank, it appeared he wanted to clarify that as long as Meth is a warlord, he may not gather peers until he passes the test, meaning, if he passed the test, he could not use the peers he gathered three months prior to issue challenge as soon as he passes
the test.
This test determines whether or not he may gather peers and challenge as a warlord. Until he can gain the rank of warlord, we won't have to worry about this anyways.
Granted, it does sound like Golden assumed Meth would retain his rank. However, it also says he will be tested around November 30th.
Of course, the decision is ultimately Golden's, and when the council is called upon to choose the champion, then I am sure we will do so in a timely manner.
I have a few ideas of who to use in the test, myself. My first vote would be Jeff, since he has made a legend out of the 8th ring. Other ideas include Cas, Ian, Tarl, Dex, Daegarth, or one of the other former holders of the 8th ring who are still around. Avery, while he has not held the 8th ring, would still also be a good one in my eyes considering he's the overlord.
I plan to write a letter to the baron's council, Golden, Drake, and Turi about this matter. It is something that should be taken care of, especially since the test date was scheduled for November 30th.

Yes... and let's presume the cur regains the rank of Warlord three weeks from now. At such time, either (a) he will then require the test in order to begin accumulating bonafides, or (b) the test will already be out of the way.
Or (c), he'll have failed the test, and won't have any particular impetus to regain the rank of Warlord. Something to chew on, eh?

To close this matter.
Master Evermeadow has made it clear to myself that I should, in the absence of Lady Turienal, inform the Council of the need to appoint a champion to duel against the duelist known as Methous, regardless of his current rank.
Lady Drake, aka the Gryphon.
