Challenge Results (8th Ring) Between Damien and Ariadne.
From: rdimarit@aol.com (RDI Marit)
Date: 04 Dec 1999 03:05:25 EST
On Friday evening at the hour of 8:30 pm on December the 3rd of 1999, I agreed to officiate the Challenge between Holder of the 8th ring, Damien Mortis and Warlady Ariadne Angeles. .
Damien dueled for no house. He chose noone to second him and no lady of honor howe'er he did swear loyalty to his best friend, the bottle of Jack Daniels and ifn my ears 'ave not betrayed me Jack Daniels was, in fact, named Second. He dueled for his one arm.
Ariadne Angeles dueled as a retainer to the House of Miyamoto of which the colors were white cherry b'rossom on a sky-blue. Her chosen Lord of Honor was Phantom Latere Valzhon. She named noone to second her.
The match within the Ring of Challenge was recorded as so:
1 - The duel began as Damien's intention of defending the ring begun. He fancy sidestepped away from her openin' thrust.
(Fss/Th 1 - 0 Ariadne)
2 - Both the Baron and Warlady low cutted resulting in no points.
(Lc/Lc 1 - 0 Ariadne)
3 - Ariadne moved forward possessing quite a thrusting attack which Damien fancily ducked into.
(Fdk/Th 1 all)
4 - Damien moved his weapon called Plague up high and cut from there. This was well defended by Ariadne with a fancy lateral parry.
(Hc/Flp 2 - 0 Ariadne)
5 - Ariadne continued forth with her penly weapon extending low and cutting, which Damien was unable to stop.(stop hit)
(Sh/Lc 3 - 1 Ariadne)
6 - Damien positioned himself into a fancy duck and found himself the target of Ariadne's slashing attack.
(Fdk/Sl 4 - 1 Ariadne)
7 - Damien unsuccessfully defended keeping the 8th Baronial Ring manuevering a fancy circular parry when Ariadne's high cut came in swift and fast for the taking.
(Fcp/Hc 5 - 1 Ariadne)
And so it entered into the appropriate records, a new Baroness name, Ariadne Angeles. She pronounces herself Loyal to Overlord Avery Shiv Blade.

Just to clarify, it was 1-0 Damien at this point.

Just being a bit helpful, Marit, darling, I know you need your sleep. ;)
On a side note, I'd just like to say...
I, personally, have no idea how the poor Eighth Barons Title could fall any worse unless Methous was made able to challenge, and win it again.
Beyond that, my heart pities the Eighth Barony, and I can only hope and pray that it will someday, end up in worthy hands. It's been sullied too long. And it continues.

After the bout was complete. The Spirit of the Eighth Baron's Ring of the Duel of Swords finds a shape. A soft, almost pathetic, whining sound can be heard moaning softly in the wind.
"Why me? What have I done to deserve such a fate? I had been a good ring. I was faithful to those whose fingers I adorned. But lately. First Methous, then Aspen challenges him for me. Then the fiend, Methous destroys me in a childish display. Shortly after, it appeared I could be on an up swing."
The Spirit can be heard sighing.
"The Roman, Cassius, had won me as a prize in the tournement. It seemed well. But then, he loses to another fiend. Damien Mortis. Woe is me, but Damien loses me to Ariadne! My what a fate has befallen me! Can it get any worse than this? Oh, the humanity! Won't some worthy sould please save me from such wretched patterns as is forming? Help Me, Help Meeeeee...."
The Spirit's vocalization was heard trailing off, a sound of such intense dispair.
One could only feel pity.

A small shiver ran down her spine she neared the cork. The agony and soul wrenching dispair of that soft moaning sigh echoed eerily in the vast cavern. She tacked a note to the cork, then, pulling her cloak more closely around her she vanished.
Gentles,
The darkness deepens. Fools, jesters, lackwits curs an' louts hae sullied the Eighth Ring. An now tis in ta 'ands 'o a liar, a rude personage wh' hae shown repeatedly 'er utter lack 'o respect fer either ta duels, ta Community or for ta 'onorable traditions which once flourished so brightly.
Ah join with thee, Baron Talanador in 'opin' that one day an' verra soon, th' once glorious Eighth shall again be upon the hand of someone worthy. Mine condolances unto House Miyamoto that the proud name wouldst be sullied ast well by ta Goddess. E'en more tis truly disgustin' th' ta Goddess didst permit the insulting one called Phantom to stand as her lord of Honor. Tis truly a sad day when one what strives fer th' title wouldst honor one such
ast Phantom what most loudly an' with utter callousness an ignorance didst shout ta the rafters that the Baron, Dexter Montoya hae 'cheated" in earning 'is title, an' further didst offer deadly insult unto Janella who wast officiatin' durin' ta recent warlord Tourney. Ist this wh' be th' once proud sport hae fallen ta? Truly th' darkness deepens.
Thee, Baron Zamhulem, thee shouldst ast well 'ang thine head in utter shame for thee hae declaimed t'was thee wh' hae taught ta Goddess.
May the caverns, nay may all the planet be spared ta likes 'o Ariadne, for though she claims ta be a Keeper of Dreams, she herself be but another nightmare come unta th' caverns.

Thank you Rix for catching that.
This brings to my mind the reason I do not particularly care for posting the results at such as early early hour in the morning which is what happened. Usually I post soon after the match is over or wait until the next day. Howe'er, I was asked to help call duels since I happened to be present in the arena and staff was at a low and for the latter of posting at such early hour, Drake kindly requested that I put up the results.
I failed to go back over and check the results before I made it public. I have to admit, my mind set was more focused on wanton sleep.
Now, as I go over the record, I have made the following corrections and here tis stands in new outfit as follows:

::tacks up a small note::
In my opinion, Ariadne is the lesser of the two evils, but, of course, an evil nonetheless. I'm just relieved that Damien no longer has it. We should all look to the bright side of this. That cur no longer holds the 8th.
Now, someone just has to remove it from Ariadne's hold by someone more decent.

Phantom keeps getting more immature by the day. I was not at the challenge match the whole time and did not see Phantom say harsh things to abron Dexter Montoya but if he did I feel Baron Montoya should rip Phantom's head off. Oh and Dex if you want someone to be a witness to you shoving the Phantom's rude and incoherent words down his throat you can always ask me.

I think I made my feelings perfectly clear after the duel was completed, and I pretty much said what I think in my previous post. Now, all I wonder, is how long the line is to put it in better hands.
Any takers? Anyone? Please?
