Last evening (Dec 2) I was called to officiate the challenge match for the Sixth Baronial Ring of the Duel of Swords. The Warlord Daryl Kyle did press challenge to its holder, Baroness Simini.

Daryl Kyle dueled under the colors of silver and white, under the banner of the House of Eldicor. Cassius Gaius Maximius stood as his second, and he had no Lady of Honor.

Simini dueled under neither colors or banner, and Fantasy RC stood as her second. Her Lord of Honor for the eve was Lupton est Dracoern.

The match started out in Daryl's favor, as it appeared Simini wasn't quite ready to engage him in battle. (R1-LC/Dis, 1-0 Daryl) The second round, however, she seemed more ready, and moving away, gave no points. (R2-FSS/FDU, 1-0 Daryl) Then, in the third round, Daryl scored with a wicked slash the Baroness just couldn't evade! (R3-FDU/SL, 2-0 Daryl)

The next few rounds there was a lot of manuevering, but nothing was scored. (R4-SH/FLP, R5-LC/LC, 2-0 Daryl) It was after this respite that Simini scored her first point, avoiding a second slash. (R6-FSS/SL, 2-1 Daryl). Round seven, though, Daryl got his two point lead again, getting under the parry. (R7-FDU/FCP, 3-1 Daryl) Then in round eight, again Daryl scored, deflecting Simini's thrust. (R8-TH/FCP, 4-1 Daryl)

It was here that Simini scored again, a simple parry to stop the cut. (R9-LP/HC, 4-1.5 Daryl) Again in round 10 a simple parry was used, and she gained a little more advantage. (R10-TH/CP, 4-2 Daryl)

In the last round, Simini kept on defense, but in doing so, she allowed Daryl to score the final point. (R11-SS/HC, 5-2 Daryl)

Daryl Kyle is now named Holder of the Sixth Baronial Ring, and announces his alignment as Loyal to the Overlord.

Well dueled both of you.

Daryl my friend, congratulations an attaining the 6th, make it proud. You are a good man and I am sure you will be a more than decent Baron.

Simini, good fight. I am sure this is not the last the council has seen of you. I was just speculating, I dont think you were losing all that many challenge matches before you hooked up with Loopy, just a thought.

Amicably,

::written with a soft chuckle::

My dear Marius... I had "hooked up with Loopy" long before ever becoming a Baron... and Daryl's Challenge was only my second. My thanks for the vote of confidence, in any case.

Daryl... my thanks to you for a fine match. I look forward to watching your activities on the Council, and to seeing you within the rings.

Christopher wrote the letter for Avery. Something he had never actually done before. Yet, his condition worse, he could not afford the energy. So Christopher set down and wrote what he knew Avery would say....

Community,

Let it be known that Avery wishes to congratulate both the new Barons. Each has secured themselves a place in history, and he wants them to feel proud of the accomplishment. Of course he is very sorry he could not be there to give them the rings in person. He wishes them the best of luck as they strive to honor the rings.

I was just speculating too, Marius. I don't think you were losing all that many challenge matches before you got a woman drunk and married her. Just a thought.

Also, it's good to see that you're picking up the slack in overlong signatures, now that Cas has trimmed his down.

Well won, Daryl. See that you wear the ring as well as you took the ring. With many of the happenstances of late, it is important that Barons show themselves to be positive participants in the community. Don't let the criticism of those who are bigoted against you personally provoke you to behaving in kind. That is a weakness, one I confess to possessing myself more often than I would like. Remember that answering
pointless accusations intemperately can make people wonder if they have a point.

Simini, it was very well tried. You have always comported yourself with sportsmanship and courage, and you deserve to wear a ring again. I hope that time is as soon as is possible. Perhaps you could let your attention affix itself to the 8th at some point in the future.

You know Zen, until you made that comment, I was gonna stay out of this.

And of course, you are an expert on how challenge matches are lost, you yourself have never lost a Baronial challenge match, as you have reminded me many a time. But, I wonder how big a part in that is played by the fact that you have not once, but twice, disappeared without reason or trace, not answering a challenge issued to you and causing the Council to convene, hell, causing the Council to be created, even? Just a thought.

And with that, I formally step away from this bickering.

Cas,
What did that have anything to do with a signature?

Oh, gee, is Cas commenting on situations he doesn't know anything about again? Not only that but doing so unprompted. That's fantastic. I gotta agree with Drey, where do you get all that from me commenting on someone else's signature?

For someone who wants to stay out of the whole argument you sure worm your way back into it a lot.
