To clear up any mystery, I was the individual Gunthar quotes defending Ian's right, or anyone's right, to remove their property from wherever it exists. This is especially true when the property's integrity and privacy is threatened without any conversation with the owner.

I would have done the same were I Ian. Considering I was involved in the conversation with our current Supervisor, I probably would have acted even faster.

I hope someone can contact the evil Tyrant, Baphelocutis, before his property is altered behind his back.

There is no excuse for this. However, considering our Supervisor was granted his position via some sort of new birth right, his arrogance and lack of respect should be expected.

OK, so we got this guy here that looks to perk up tight as a damn drum when folks talk of goin and touchin his stuff, yet he leaves them there skyboxes here for Lord knows how long without so much as usin em or cleanin em up so we can.

Dont ya know, Mac, that vandals and such couldve come in here any time they damn well pleased and tore your boxes clean to high heaven? I gotta wonder why ya even put them things here in the first place. This aint exactly your communal storage shed. And hey, we the ones that gotta look at em. If my neighbor offers to wax up my rustmobile cuz hes tired of lookin at it all corroded in the driveway, damn right Im gonna let em do it.

I hope I speak for all us folks here when I say this: Thanks for finally gettin rid of your clutter. I think we might finally be able to breath in this joint, well at least once all the dust settles.

<This, again, is something which Lady Starfare pointed out; I'll remind you that Lord Valentine's response was, "I'll get around them." How would you feel, Lord Starke, if I decided I'd "get around" the locks on the front door of your home, or any other property you own?>

Point well taken. You are correct. My apologies.

Perhaps I should not post this, but I have never been one to simply disregard a situation.

Laird MacKenzie:
As I said to young Master Evermeadow the other eve, I believe you acted rashly, but well within your rights.
I have often found you to be a very reasonable person who has, upon a number of occasions, attempted to mediate disputes rather than allowing misunderstandings to grow... Thus, I was surprised at this situation and the posts that have followed.
As for the information you based your actions upon, you know my feelings there.
I will not debate this matter with you on the public board, for I still believe we are too good of friends for anything less than a face to face talk.
Chance comments taken out of context can be seen in any way the person chooses.

Lastly,
If I were to give someone permission to place some chairs in the Alabaster Manor so that they might watch the duels and training held there, that would be my right. If, after a few years, the chairs went unused and I was planning on renovating the main hall so that the chairs belonging to this person would not match the new style... it would be my right to either remove those chairs or ask the person to replace them with ones that match the new
style.
If, after waiting for two or three weeks without a reply... should I simply leave the chairs, or replace them?
One step further. If the chairs in question were locked in place, it would be within my rights to remove that lock if I did not receive any reply to my request that the owner remove or replace them.

Actually, Sid, I don't think I said anything about Val being in the right at all regarding altering someone else's property. If I did write it in invisible ink somewhere, please tell me.

What I was addressing was the childish fit of rage and then saying, "this is all because X and X said/did this."

In all actuality Sid, the cause is just someone popping their top. It's not because of some "dictatorship," or because of a relayed message.

And finally, Ian, I'm beyond considering you feeling remorse. In fact, your further cries are what I expect.

In either case, wishing me to Hell is a bit premature. I've still got a lot in me and my family's up here. I'm not going there for a very long time.

I am, however, prepared for the worst Hell could possibly give me, by reading "The Greatest Hits of Neo-Meth MacKenzie" on the boards. Good day.

Lady Silvertree writes:

"If I were to give someone permission to place some chairs in the Alabaster Manor so that they might watch the duels and training held there, that would be my right. If, after a few years, the chairs went unused and I was planning on renovating the main hall so that the chairs belonging to this person would not match the new style... it would be my right to either remove those chairs or ask the person to replace them with ones that match the new

"One step further. If the chairs in question were locked in place, it would be within my rights to remove that lock if I did not receive any reply to my request that the owner remove or replace them."

As should be apparent by my statements regarding what I would have done had Lord Evermeadow bothered to contact me, I agree with this. Unfortunately, he did not, even after being informed he ought to.

As for your feelings regarding the source of my information, Lady Silvertree... to be quite frank, I couldn't care less. Lady Starfare and I have a certain bond, and, simply put, I know when she's lying and when she isn't.

Regards,
Ian Rex.

>Anyway, I don't see any real brilliant point Ian is actually making, so,
>please Val... I'm here to chip in with any problems you have.
>

First of all, I believe Ian was making apoint regarding the new supervisor's apparently cavalier attitude regarding private property rights. Namely, his willingness to 'get around the locks' to Ian's old skybox and his apparent lack of a desire to talk to Ian about changes to Ian's property. This strikes me as a major point.

> And another thing... Val writes, "Lord Rex." Ian seems to take mild offense.
>Tell me then, why in hell does he write "Ian Rex" then? Does he have a
>certain fondness of dinosaurs?

Secondly, Rex is not a name. It is a title. It is the Latin word for 'king'. Ian signs his name Ian Rex because his name is Ian, and his title is king. Fairly formal, but still simple enough.

Thirdly, Drey, Ian is basically right. If his source is reliable. That's the problem. He was quoting hearsay evidence. It all comes down to everyone's personal opinion of his source's honesty in general.

Lord Var:

I note you were completely unable to respond to the actual points under discussion.

Continue with your insipid Methous comparisons at your own risk. You know them to be inappropriate and inapplicable. Just as I make my own metaphorical bed with my words, so do you.

"Fit of rage," indeed. In fact, Lord Var, I have been completely calm throughout this episode. I have not threatened anyone; indeed, contrary to your asinine statements, I did not even "destroy" anything. The building materials in question were carefully disassembled by my workers, and are currently safely stored within a shed at my estate, except for the broken glass, which I must confess, I did send off to be melted down and reused.

Indeed, it would seem Bode has the right of it. If the structure was such an embarrasment, I'd think everyone would be glad to see it gone. I can think of only two reasons such a commotion would be raised by my having removed the structure: either the community expects something for nothing, or... well, I'm sure the other one is not one you'd wish to consider.

As to those others who seem to have a problem with me expressing my anger at the thought of someone screwing with my property - who express this as some sort of ego issue on my part - I will point again to a previous message from me, where I noted that the courtesy Lord Evermeadow failed to show is a courtesy due ANYONE, regardless of their station, rank, or importance to this community.

Regards,
Ian Rex.

Well, Gunthar, personally I am more occupied trying to figure out just why a young man with no experience in the DoS is taking over as supervisor. When I decide what the heck is going on, then I will decide whether Ian has done anything or not. While I admit he can get a bit pompous now and then, so can I. It is hardly a failing unique to any one person in the Arena.
Still, I am still trying to understand the whole leadership issue.

Var~

"Fit of rage" indeed. Aparantly you know little about Ian MacKenzie. If he were truly in a "fit of rage" I doubt he would stop at simply disassembling skyboxes.

Learn to grow up and stop blowing things out of porportion, Var.

Var, I take offense to this statement. I agree with Drakewyn, in that Ian acted rashly, but in his rights. Comparing this action to Meth's descruction of the 8th ring is unneccessary, inaccurate, and just plain tasteless. Good day.

The big problem with this, aside from a bad analogy, is the fact that young Evermeadow doesn't own the arena. It is not his domicile and therefore he doesn't have the right to remove or change something just because he thinks it's become an eyesore or needs to be fixed.

If you can find the real owner of the Arena, and I doubt you even have an idea who it is, that person will likely tell you that Ian paid for, and subsequently owns, that particular spot in the balconies. Or should I say that if he should claim any ownership, it would have much greater validity than Evermeadows.

Remember, Evermeadow Junior and senior are caretakers of the sport, not the building itself. You are a caller, you own nothing inside that building save what you have brought of your own.

I stand corrected, and offer my sincere apologies to both you and the Lady Starfare. I would be interested in hearing what happened, I do not appreciate people who would lie to a respected personage such as yourself, nor smear my friend's name.
