Ian.

I have a question for you.

Let us, for the sake of arguement, say that Young Master Evermeadow -had- written you a letter inquiring about the skyboxes... and, again for the sake of arguement, let us say that you were unreachable, or that you simply forgot to reply to said letter for a large number of months.
Is it your assertation that the planned renovations should be scrapped or only half-done, simply because one person, yourself, could not be consulted?
I ask this because it is highly probable that there will be major difficulties contacting Baphelocutis concerning his skybox.

Lastly, I understand your belief in your bond with Lady Starfare... however, given her willingness to state bold-faced lies about myself, even in the face of contradictory evidence, I cannot trust it.

Var,

This is meant in a friendly manner, as actual helpful advice. A very wise man once said, "It is better to say nothing and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." Please, don't write anymore until you do a lot more reading and thinking. From a lot of what you yourself have written, you seem to be missing the point and even somewhat mistaken on the issue of the facts.

Lady Silvertree:

"Let us, for the sake of arguement, say that Young Master Evermeadow -had- written you a letter inquiring about the skyboxes... and, again for the sake of arguement, let us say that you were unreachable, or that you simply forgot to reply to said letter for a large number of months.

"Is it your assertation that the planned renovations should be scrapped or only half-done, simply because one person, yourself, could not be consulted?"

In most civilized societies with well-founded rule of law, there are, indeed, provisions for the disposition of property when the owner has essentially vanished intestate (i.e., without a will or other instruction). There is a certain amount of time which must pass without response in such societies, which varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction; however, in all of them which I am aware, some sort of effort must be made to, in fact, contact the
owner - as opposed to expecting the owner to hear about the proceedings second-hand (or third-, or fourth-...).

" Lastly, I understand your belief in your bond with Lady Starfare... however, given her willingness to state bold-faced lies about myself, even in the face of contradictory evidence, I cannot trust it."

My "belief"? I understand your "belief" in magic, Lady Silvertree, however, given your inability to perform it upon my person, even in the face of contradictory evidence, I cannot trust it.

Point taken, I presume?

Ian Rex.

"In most civilized societies with well-founded rule of law"
Where can I find a civilized society with well-founded rules of law around here? If anyone has directions, I'd appreciate it. Colorful maps would also be helpful.
Oh, and Drake ... what would happen if one person didn't want their skybox renovated when they were reached? Is it your assertion that they lose because otherwise the plans for renovation would have to be scrapped or half-done? If not, then how difficult would it be to work around that particular skybox of one that could not or would not give an answer? Seems like you're edging into degrees of fairness.
What's done has been done. MacKenzie made his point and I'm sure it's now been given due consideration by the people it affects. While some may seem to think it affects the entire community, I assure you that, at the end of the day, the Swords do not live or die by the number of skyboxes hanging, however tenuously, above the Arena. And, while MacKenzie might like to think to the contrary, nor does the Swords live or die by his actions (or the
condition of his skybox, which, I might add, smelled fairly rank, though he'll deny it to his dying day. He has an odor problem.).
So, with this, I propose an end to the needless bickering over a smelly old box that hung over the Arena for God-knows-how-long-considering-MacKenzie's-age. If people insist on bickering over smelly old boxes, I'll be more than happy to hunt them down and stuff them in my locker for two days. Then we'll see what really deserves renovations.
With that, I'm going to have a cup of cocoa. And I'm even going to put it on MacKenzie's tab. Then I am going to go throw snowballs at MacKenzie's carriage simply because he can't catch me. And you people thought you lived dangerously because you play with swords.

"And, while MacKenzie might like to think to the contrary, nor does the Swords live or die by his actions..."

Nope. MacKenzie wouldn't like to think to the contrary at all on that issue... believe it or don't.

"He has an odor problem."

You only say that because you're not used to being around people who actually bathe.

"If people insist on bickering over smelly old boxes, I'll be more than happy to hunt them down and stuff them in my locker for two days. Then we'll see what really deserves renovations."

Christ, he's not kidding. Everytime I remember the... incident where I happened to be standing behind him when he opened it... gah. Shudder to think.

"Then I am going to go throw snowballs at MacKenzie's carriage simply because he can't catch me."

You have to sleep sometime, mon frere.

Duc Percival Marchand de Clermont,

How utterly drool of thee to comment, "Thirdly, Drey, Ian is basically right. If his source is reliable. That's the problem. He was quoting hearsay evidence. It all comes down to everyone's personal opinion of his source's honesty in general."

Much ast I, His Majesty, Ian Ryan MacKenzie, ist nae wont to comment based on 'hearsay" evidence, though the same cannot be said of thee. Were I to list all the 'hearsay' evidence thee hae stated ast fact, sir, there wouldst be a rather large clearing made in the forests outside the town.

M'lord Var Medici-Giovanni,

I am most astounded that thee wouldst make comparison betwixt that cur, Methous' acts and those of Ian MacKenzie. I find it also appalling that any wouldst consider his sending laborers to carefully dismantle and remove his own property ast being in any way a rash act. What wouldst more truly be considered rash wouldst be Master Evermeadow's seeming callous and uncaring attitude with respect to another's property.

M'Lord Gunthar O'Dwyer,

For shame, sir. That thee wouldst so callously dismiss those who hae spent nae only time but coin, nae to mention sweat and blood to add nae only to the histories but to the esthetics of these ancient caverns ist distressing. Be thee indeed so enamored of the 'patrons of the day'? Indeed, for shame, Gunthar. Thou perhaps hae grown callous thineself? Perhaps thee hae chosen to accept the mediocrity perpetuated upon these once grand caverns by
those of much lesser talent, intelligence and honor than Lord MacKenzie?

Madame Silvertree,

It is always amusing when thee insinuate that I am less than forthright or truthful. It is further amusing that thee wouldst question the bond betwixt myself and Ian. Thee hae shown thineself to be much less than forthright and truthful upon numerous occasions, Madame. Thee may deny ast stridently ast thee chose, Madame, however, tis been shown thee hae a penchant for a much less than forthright and truthful manner with regard to numerous
happenings, not the least of which be thine penchant for claiming one who speaks out about thine handling of various matters be a liar.

Tis to be expected of thee, Madame, that thee wouldst support young Master Evermeadow for in that his father before him didst nay deign to remove thee from thine position ast Standings Keeper e'en in light of the many happenstances where in thee didst show thineself less than capable of performing thine duties in an unbiased and forthright manner. Madame, thine penchant for attempting to wield thine employment ast an official of this sport ast a
right to do ast thee chose with nae thought to the consequences of thine attempts at displaying thine power within the hierachy ist but the attempts of a wench who ist need of an ego trip. Perhaps thee may find young Master Evermeadow willing to perform that service for thee. Rest assured, Madame, I find no such need to do so. Madame, if thee were to but sit upon thine laurels ast a duelist and nae expect to sit upon those ast Standings Keeper,
thee may find the former first seat much more comfortable than the latter. I for one am most heartily amused that thee hae yet to apprise the community of the "new traditions" thee alluded to in a missive nae long agon. Perhaps thee hold that the officials be above the law, Madame? Certes, though the caverns fall within the desmense of Rhydin Towne, a lawless place, one wouldst think a wench who bleats so oft of proper behavior and propriety and
who ast well dost bleat so oft that honor shouldst be a genteel matter, that thee consider the act of removing one's own property from this cavern ast being a rash act. Madame, I for one find the removal a wise and considered act. An act that perhaps hast indeed saved the very lives of those who may have attempted to invade the structure. Thine own rash acts are nigh legendary, Madame, though rest assured they nae be worthy of anything but scorn
or perhaps a sad shaking of one's head at yuir follies.

Jona,

I see that you're using any chance you get to again attack Drake with your usual insults. It amuses me to no end that your focus upon her can remain so steadfast.

As usual, you take what she says in the wrong way and twist it just so you can insult her. If I am ever in need of some colorful insults, or someone to twist some words around so I can make an attempt to make someone look bad, well, guaranteed I know who to go to.

G,

Shouldst thee e'er be in need 'o aid in learnin; anna colorful insults, thee certes aire welcome ta inquire. Ast ta Madame Silvertree's comments, th' wench's words nae need anna twistin', though Ah hae witnessed her manna attempts ta back pedal after behaving in a foolish and rash manner.

She hae shown herself long adept at attemptin' ta present herself ast a righteous an' upstandin' individual an' hae managed ta gull those wh' may be less than willing ta call 'er 'pon her deeds an' acts.

For those what nae be cowed by her and with eyes and ears, she hast shown herself to be indeed a callous an' uncaring individual, 'ell bent 'pon doin' ast she pleases an ta 'ell wi' ta consequences 'o 'er actions. Tis if'n annaone be makin' Madame Silvertree 'look bad' tis she. An' she be doing a right proper job 'o it. Further if'n anna be th' personification 'o th' darkness wh' hae descended 'pon th' basement, it be she an' those wh' hae nae ta
wit ta stand agin such follies.

Madame Silvertree indeed made nae comment attal save to hae a grin plastered 'pon her face whilst young Master Evermeadow an' Ah conversed. She seem indeed right pleased an' took nae umbrage attal th' young Master Evermeadow indeed advocated th' breakin' an' enterin' 'o private property. For one who dost claim friendship wi' Lord MacKenzie to sit an' grin whilst being aware that 'is property might indeed be tampered with dost certes nae speak
'verra 'ighly 'o her concern for her 'friend' nor for his rights or for his property. For that matter, it dinna speak verra highly 'o Madame Silvertree's concern fer e'en common courtesty nae ta mention civilized behavior or for that matter anna concern for annaone's property. Och, with such ast Madame Silvertree ast a friend wh' need hae one 'o enemies, neh?

Not really. I've seen you attempt to present yourself as such, but you make it sound like Drake's much worse. Which I really don't think that's true.

>For those what nae be cowed by her and with eyes and ears, she hast shown
>herself to be indeed a callous an' uncaring individual, 'ell bent 'pon doin'

She is hardly callous and uncaring, I think even you know that. Nor do I see her "Doing as she pleases."

>Further if'n anna be th' personification 'o th' darkness wh' hae descended
>'pon th' basement, it be she an' those wh' hae nae ta

If she did something really that I could say is a darkness falling upon the Arena, rest assured I'd call her on it. Frankly, I haven't seen her do anything so horrible that she can be classed like that. And I don't see where you find that.

As for the whole Skyboxes incident, If you want my entire opinion on how that was handled, feel free to call upon me, cause I'll be more than happy to tell you.

And in closing,
>Och, with such ast Madame Silvertree ast a friend wh' need hae one 'o
>enemies, neh?

I count her among my greatest friend, Jona. I want noone else standing beside me in any dark hour rather than her. I think, perhaps, friendship is in the eyes of the beholder, as I could probably find several who would say the same line about you. I hope someone could say teh line about me, because I have no wish of being someone who has nothing but friends. I could use some enemies.

Good evening,

Jonalyn,
I will keep this brief. You now have insulted me upon the cork twice, in a matter of several weeks. Both times the issue was not regarding yourself, and the first time, once you spoke with me, you understood where I was coming from. Countless times I have defended your name when others have spoken bad upon you when you were not to present yourself, though perhaps my doing so was a mistake. I cannot say for sure, though when I read your post
concerning myself, it was not so much the comments upon me that were amusing. It was the fact you had listed several names, smothering them with insults. As it seems, Jonalyn, you are never in the wrong, so it seems futile for me to state my case, no? Perhaps, Jonalyn, I am simply another patron, but at least this patron knows of values, and I as well know of decency, I take into consideration a person's feelings whom I have known for so long,
or whom I do not know at all.

Regretfully,
Gunthar O'dwyer

Gunthar,

I shall nae apologize for stating what I hae observed nor for stating mine opinion upon the matter. If thee felt the need to defend mine name, I do offer thee mine gratitude, howe'er, I am inured to such insults cast upon mine name.

Gunthar, thee aire ast free ast annaother to state thine concerns and if'n thou hast taken umbrage so be it. Howe'er ast a patron of these duels, certes tis mine sincerest hope that thee hae nae chosen to turn a blind eye unto the tyranny being attempted against this community.

Thou perhaps hae nae concern for t'was nae yuir property that wast to be altered. I must say, howe'er, thee hae nae struck me ast a lawless man. Quite simply, Gunthar, those who stand silent in the face of tyranny in time oft find themselves upon their knees.
