Fellow DoS Members,
I am concerned about the practice of bringing children into the DoS Arena while duels are occuring. I feel this could be traumatic, or at least upsetting, for the children.
Ulath and I have a son, Aleath, who is two now. Sometimes he watches Ulath practice with his axe, sometimes he watches when I am taking lessons from Ulath. This has caused him to, naturally, enjoy playing with his sword. (Which is really any available, similarly shaped object he can reach)
I have brought him to a duel only once, and that was when he was asleep. While he was there, I realized that, had he been watching his father duel, and bleed, he might have been rather upset. It can't be easy for a young child to watch their beloved parent getting injured.
Add to that, the presence of the wards around the Arena and Team Duels, which heal the wounds received in dueling. That is a seriously different occurance than what would happen outside the duels. Should he stab a friend while "play dueling" (when he's a little older) then that friend could easily die, because there are no such wards, generally speaking, in the world outside of the arena.
I do not presume to tell any other parent how to raise their children. I only wish to present these ideas so that parents of RhyDin and DoS might think about the practice of bringing their children into the Arena.
