Challenge for the 6th Baron's Ring
From: lorddarylkyle@aol.com (Lord Daryl Kyle)
Date: 05 Mar 2000 21:02:49 EST
As you all know Damien Mortis, former Baron of the 8th has challenged for the 6th Baronial Ring. The Lady Simini has agreed to call this challenge for myself and Damien.
The defence of the 6th will be held tonight, March 5th, at 10 EST within the confines of the Arena.
I will duel under the colors of Pitch Black and gold and will wear my cerimonial armor that is black with golden vines encompassing it. The weapon on to which I will defend this ring with is my longsword "Fontneaux".
I duel alone and with no second, and my Ladies of Honor are the Lady Nessa Raven and the Lady Ceridwin Cresent.
Come by one and all and watch this challenge for the 6th Baronial Ring of the Duel of Swords.
Daryl Kyle,
Baron of the 6th Baronial Ring of the Duel of Swords

My second stands a Xeric Mues. I deeply apologize to Xeric for my forgetting him within the post.

Let it be known that on the fifth eve of this moon, I did officiate a duel between the Warlord Damien Mortis and the Sixth Baron of the Duel of Swords, Lord Daryl Kyle. At stake was the Baron's title, ring and all other endowments due a Baron.
The Warlord fought independent of House affiliations, banners or colors, and declared his sword, Plague, as his Second.
The Baron fought under the colors of pitch black and gold, reflected in his black armor engraved with golden vines. His weapon was an English longsword called Fontneaux. Xericmues stood as Second, and both Vanessa Raven and Ceridwin Nimue Crescent stood as Ladies of Honor.
The match progressed as follows:
Round One:
The Baron earns the first point by skillfully parrying away Damien's low cut.
(fcp/lc)
Score: Warlord Mortis 0, Baron Kyle 1
Round Two:
Stepping forward, Daryl glides into a stophit, which proves absolutely useless against the Warlord's (fancy) duck.
Score: Warlord Mortis 0, Baron Kyle 1
Round Three:
The third round is the reverse of the first, with Damien stophitting and Daryl (fancy) ducking.
Score: Warlord Mortis 0, Baron Kyle 1
Round Four:
The Warlord swings Plague high, and the Baron lifts Fontneaux to defend with a parry... but Damien switches low at the last second and scores with a low cut! (flp/lc)
Score: Warlord Mortis 1, Baron Kyle 1
Round Five:
Damien switches high again, following through on the cut... and finds himself chest-to-point with Fontneaux! (hc/th)
Score: Warlord Mortis 1, Baron Kyle 2
Round Six:
Mayhaps expecting what is known as the "Bishop's Block", Damien decides to go defensive... but Daryl has instead sidestepped for the point! (fcp/fss)
Score: Warlord Mortis 1, Baron Kyle 3
Round Seven:
Daryl finishes the sidestep by snapping to with a quick thrust... but finds only air when Damien pivots and twists out of the way! (th/fss)
Score: Warlord Mortis 2, Baron Kyle 3
Round Eight:
In the eighth round, Daryl moves his longsword laterally... right over Damien's ducking head! (flp/fdk)
Score: Warlord Mortis 3, Baron Kyle 3
Round Nine:
Trying to take back the advantage, Daryl risks a quick slash but Plague thwarts him with a surprise stophit!
Score: Warlord Mortis 4, Baron Kyle 3
Round Ten:
Thrice, the Baron has parried laterally, and thrice has the Warlord defeated it. (lp/ss)
Score: Warlord Mortis 4.5, Baron Kyle 3
Round Eleven:
Dual stophits prove the tenseness in each man but do nae advance the score.
Score: Warlord Mortis 4.5, Baron Kyle 3
Round Twelve:
Damien... steps aside, avoiding the Baron's circular parry for the win!
Score: Warlord Mortis 5, Baron Kyle 3
And so it was that Damien Mortis did take possession of the title of Sixth Baron of the Duel of Swords, and declared it Renegade to the Overlord Shiv Blade.
Dutifully submitted,

Fellow patrons of the Duel of Swords,
What I have failed to do was defend the 6th Baronial Ring of the Duel of Swords against Damien Mortis, who now holds said ring. For this I can only apologize for my weakness in the ring. Still though, this apology is not enough to compensate for my indiscresion of the duels. I beg each and every one of you for your forgiveness.
If you cannot forgive me then I offer you this. I will hereby retire from the Duel of Swords if you wish. Again, my retirement and my apology is not enough for this vile act upon the 6th Ring. I truely am sorry.
Daryl Kyle,
Warlord of the Duel of Swords.

Asking for an apology is pretty sad.
It's not the End of the World, Daryl. No one's out to get you. Sometimes you gotta fall, and sometimes you gotta rise. Take it back if you feel you've wronged by letting him have it.
Please, don't ask for sympathy. Just duel. Have fun. No sympathy.

Master Kyle,
Be thee now begging forgiveness? How utterly pitiful, man. I hae nae doubt yuir lackeys an' sycophants shall beg thee to remain. One wouldst opine that a man wouldst nae whimper in defeat but wouldst hold his head high in adversity.
The Sixth be well rid of thee, sir.

Cute.
Now that we've so maturely established that Damien has one arm, let me ask you Lady Starfare....do you really think Damien is an improvement over Daryl?

Lady Starfare.
Mayhaps you have failed to notice that "the other hand" does not exist, along with his entire left arm.
