>Avery was -Never- declared in Forfiet of his Title, therefore, it doesn't go
>to the council.

On the contrary, when Avery failed to defend his title within the given time restraints, he was automatically in forfiet. As for your comments in general, G, since you have disgraced the Ninth Ring, they're not worth anyone's time.

This is not true, because he was granted an extension by the Supervisor. Until that extension period is over, Avery is not in forfeit and this matter does not belong in the Council.

Avery was scheduled to duel Drey on Sunday May 14, 4 days before the end of the allowed time period. On that day, Avery managed to send notice before the match he would be unavailable, and Drey even posted in his own hand Avery wrote him and the match would be rescheduled. As Avery did take the time to get a letter out, and as it was before the end of the alotted period, Val was within his rights as Supervisor to grant this temporary extension and
the matter does not belong in Council until that period is over.

Avery did not forfeit. He gave something of advance notice and made an effort to say it would be rescheduled. Val is right in this matter, and you, the Barons, are trying to push him into a corner and take back that decision.

Why is it you all back Val on rules issues when they suit you, but when y'all don't get what you want you go off and demand his head?

A few questions . . .

First off, just how long is the extension? Is it for an indefinite amount of time?

What happens if this duel is not fought before the Warlord Tournament? Does Drey's challenge take priority over the challenge from the winner of the tourney?

"Sidartha, I wouldn't say such a thing. Jonalyn might insult you."

Dustin, I really couldn't care less. Been there, done that.

Sid, I realize that you don't give a damn what Jonalyn has to say, nor do I. I was just being funny.

Gnort and Drey~

Certain power comes with certain responsibility. If the Supervisor cannot suppress the temptation to drop to the level of this lynch mob in a situation of this level, what in the world is he going to do in a more serious situation than even this?

I agree that he has the right, as the Supervisor, to make the decision he did, but those rights come with the responsibility of being at the very least *tactful* to the patrons he serves...ALL of them. Especially when posting in an official capacity such as now.

I want a supervisor to give me the truth, I don't need one to put daisies on the walls of the Arena. Val's bluntness is not what bothers me, it's his issue of "this is my place and I do what I want with it, simply because I can" that bothers me.
There are simply more people affected by Val taking it upon himself to give Avery the extension when Avery does not appear to be working with Drey on establishing a time.
Magnus has to wait, the Barons are turning into pawns, and anyone who has followed or will follow the rules in the future have been insulted. This isn't JUST between Avery and Drey; it involves the community, and anyone who wishes to uphold its standards.

Var, I would like you to point out *where* in my post I said that Valentine should, as you put it, "put daisies on the walls of the Arena". There is a difference between fawning and tactfulness, just as there is a difference between being blunt and being downright insulting.

If Val honestly thinks "to hell with the council, I'm going to do what I want," then I want him to say exactly that. To say, "I'm sorry, I don't think this is the council's place" when he feels more strongly, then he would be putting daisies on the walls.
I would rather dislike someone for the truth, than to respect them due to false security. Maybe you don't want to have daisies on the Arena walls, but not wanting to hear the truth for what it is almost sounds as if you do.

Say for example, I hate you. Would you rather have me say, "I hate your guts" or "I don't like you?" I know if someone hated me, I'd rather have them say that as opposed to trying to coddle me.

Var, though I understand where you are coming from, you must look at it from all angles here. Perhaps the overlord is currently in a crisis? He was allowed a brief extension granted to by the 'tyrant', which is with in his ability. Should he fail to duel with in the time that remains in his extension the match shall be declared forfeit, then, and only then, will the council get to take hold of the decision. Everyone
seems to be clouding the actual facts of this matchup. Think about it, four days prior to the challenge deadline the overlord sent missive to those involved. And perhaps it is courtious to send missive to the council, and even the community, the only people truely involved in this matter are the two challengers and the supervisor. He requested an extension, and seeing as how he shall not be challenged now anyhow (24 day grace period) it won't effect
anything. Aside from Magnus who is trigger happy on challenging for the thirteenth, but by the time the grace period is over, so shall this be. Then he can commence in his actions, before the end of the cycle. Valentine was fair and just in his ruling, and it truely does not involve anyone but those involved until the challenge is either finished or forfeited. Oh well, perhaps only Gnort and myself are on the same page. Now then, the decision is
made, move on.

Aside from avoiding my other quetions Var, thank you for answering this one.

Who Declared the Overlord Forfiet?

Riddle me that.

Son, Don't presume to know anything. I never disgraced the Ninth ring. I did what was best for it. If anyone believes otherwise, they're a fine case of why the Arena has degraded into such a pit of despair.

That goes for you too, kiddo.

Do forgive me for failing to retort to this remark in favor od such whimsical diatribe.

Avery missed a match, sure. Then when Drey said that he wanted to fight Avery and would grant him more time, Where was the Forfiet afterwards?

I've never once referred to the First forfiet, in which Drey did indeed grant Avery time to reschedule, I'm arguing over the missing Second Forfiet that would cause it to be placed into a council decision.

Since there was NO second Forfiet, There is no need for a council Decision.

Know your place, kid. Or for once, try to use your head. That's the lump three feet above your brain.

Unless I hear otherwise, Val is a Human Being. And therefore is subject to all feelings that race presents to him.

If the Lynch Mob can only understand words by way of insult and talking down to them, then that's how you have to address them.

Gods above and below certainly has shown that intelligence has been lacking with most of the Council already.

My Petition, Start over. Remove all Barons and only have the Overlord like it was way back when the Duels first started.

Activity is low enough. Who needs Barons anymore? All it has shown is that it's easy for the moronic of the universe to get a seat of Power.

The only question I have on the matter is whether the extension was asked for and agreed to by Drey, or if it was forced upon him by Val.

There is a large amount of precedent for two people agreeing to extend past the deadline and the Supervisor allowing it, going all the way back to when Gloin was Coord. If that is what happened then the uproar is misplaced.

On the other hand, if it was Val who agreed to the extension and then informed Drey of it, then I would have to agree with the petitioners that the matter should have been turned over to the council.

As has been pointed out, with the upcoming tournament of warlords there is no possibility of someone else challenging for the crown. Hence, the only injured party is Baron Starke. If he is in agreement with the extension then the matter should simply be settled. As the injured party, allow him to make the decision of extension or council. Presently, it would appear to me he favors to the extension.
