"If I have offended you, I apologize. It's an old habit of mine to use "sir" when I'm unsure of how to address someone I've yet to meet. On a similar note, you may stop referring to me as "Lord" since I'm not a lord of anything, nor the center of any religious dogma. So, call me Del."

Very well, Del... or, perhaps, Baron Ev'rt. (I find it difficult to refer to people informally amid formal discussions, but I will try.)

"Now, as precedent always has validity in legal matters, I'm sure you are aware that precedent is not an immortal stature. A judicial body will often interpret the law differently to parallel the changing patterns of its community. Given, contradicting interpretations don't happen overnight, but they do happen progressively."

For my comments on this, see the message I just placed on the cork. I'll add that I agree with you, but the progression must first involve someone actually making a ruling which changes the interpretation. For example, if Lord Evermeadow ruled tomorrow that the Supervisor is transferring the right to determine extensions to the Council, then that would henceforth be the state of things. Had he made such a ruling before granting the extension, I
would only agree with that based on the fact that it was his own rights he was transferring (i.e., he couldn't make a ruling which altered someone else's rights in a situation which was already transpiring; he could, theoretically, make such a ruling in regard to later situations). It's all about not changing the rules in order to alter a situation which is currently ongoing.

"So I must ask, in the case of People vs. Gloin, MacKenzie, Ray, Gnimoi, and Ar'Din, who actually interpreted that the Supervisor reserves the right of extension?"

There is, even today, an authority to whom the Supervisor must answer; in those days, that authority was the Lady Kairee.

Ian Rex.

A question, Laird MacKenzie.

""That duty, privilege and responsibility resides with the uniformed officials of this sport. Master Valentine Evermeadow, hast by fait accompli, removed the right and privilege of the officials of this sport to come forth and declare a forfeiture."

Excuse me, Lady Starfare? This is not Lady Silvertree you're conversing with here. Lord Evermeadow IS THE uniformed official of this sport. They all serve at his sufferance."

Not even considering the fact that I was not even in Rhy-Din at the time... what does this post, this situation, or Lady Starfare's comment have to do with me? Save perhaps as an easy way to insult her and I both.
I have, from the moment I became a member of the Duel of Swords' Staff, declared that any ruling or decision I made was subject to the possibility of being overturned by the Assistant Supervisor or the Supervisor.

So again I ask you... why did you feel required to use my name in this post in such a manner?

Drakewyn,

Do you not take enough insults on this board to keep you satisfied? Or is there some masochistic need to read yet more insults into writings obviously not aimed at you?

Ian was comparing the way in which Jonalyn responded to a statement he made, to the way she generally speaks to you. I trust you'll agree that she tends to treat you in a harsh and demeaning tone... whether deserved or not isn't the issue.

Keep reading though, I have no doubt that it won't take you all that long to find an insult actually directed at you. Perhaps it shall sate your apparent thirst for them.

Lady Silvertree:

Kalamere answered the question much as I would have.

I could, in turn, ask you: Why did you feel the need to respond to a weeks-old, long-forgotten comment by asking a personal question in public?

Ian Rex.

Laird MacKenzie.

Were I present when the post were made, I would have questioned it then.

In future situations, I would ask you to refrain from using my name as a goad against Starfare, as you did with this post.

In future situations, I would ask you and Lady Starfare to refrain from goading one another.

I will pay your request as much attention as you pay mine.

Done. Though I certainly have no control over Starfare's actions and can only hold up my side of the bargin.
As to her side of it, you will have to make arrangements yourself.
