Claiming a Vacancy

Ladies, Gentlemen, and Otherwise:

It now appears that the community is without an Overlord.

A look back in history shows us that the first Overlord, Gondar, did not withstand any sort of structured trial to attain the rank. Nor, for that matter, did he ever defend it. Indeed, Gondar, claiming to be the best, simply claimed the title for himself.

After consultation with my associates, and answering the cries of the community, desperate for competent leadership, I have come to a decision. Since there is no Overlord, and, really, nobody can stop me (and for God's sake, why would they want to?), I am hereby claiming the title for myself. I have faith that the community, recognizing my unique talents, will happily support this claim. Those who do not are invited to speak to Sartan, who will
quickly alter that opinion. Current Barons who intend to declare themselves Renegade will, of course, be treated in like manner, with the exception being that Sartan won't buy them a beer afterward.

All Barons, of course, are expected to declare their alignment promptly.

Thank you. That is all.

Regards,
Ian Rex,
39th Overlord of the Duel of Swords,
Whether you like it or not.

This joke is dumber than 95% of mine... wait, make that 98%.
I truly hope you are not serious, either. In fact, if you are serious, Ian and Cas, you will be written off as imbeciles bigger than Methous and Aspen combined, at least by me.

Well this is a whooper....Avery went and disappeared making himself look bad. Now Ian has surpassed that by going over everyone(or trying to) and just giving what I believe is a good laugh. Then again he could be serious in which case I think he needs more help than than I originally thought. This could become popular though just claiming titles and not challenging for them. Hmmm maybe I could just
turn in fake duel results to the standings keep and boost my WoL to about 200. Since they weren't there they can't claim they won now can they? Maybe Ian is taking a dive for Val here making himself look far worse to everyone than what Val did. Anyways....no difference having Ian over Avery right now niether of them are around, with the excepetion of Ian's numerous arguementitive notes here on the board. As for Cas.....be easy on him...we always
knew he's a follower....he'd jump off a bridge if Ian told him to follow him.

Thanks for the laughs Ian

Oh, no. What's good enough for Gondar is good enough for me. Besides, aren't you the one with the attitude that if you claim you're right often enough regardless of the evidence, then you must be? I'm learning from you, you see.

I take it you're declaring Renegade, but, then, we expected that. Sartan should be over shortly to... discuss the matter with you. You will see the light. You will be assimilated.

Wait, that was someone else's bit.

Oh, no matter. Just remember that you're not doing yourself any favors here. After all, if you're going to compare me to The Cur, you can't very well expect me to allow you the honor of defending me. What on earth are you thinking, you silly man?

I hope you are also willing to call Gondar an imbecile as well, seeing as he also didn't win his title by the means we are all used to by now.

Your narrow mindedness astounds me even more, Sid. There are rules now with how the Overlord title is obtained in the case of the forfeit, and Ian must be quite the imbecile to even think about comparing himself to Gondar. I see how you're willing to bend into the wind, though, just because Ian did it. If I did such, I'd "be on a power trip." Or how about we have Jona claim Overlordship? I'm sure you'd like to see her take the crown away and
break the rules.

" Besides, aren't you the one with the attitude that if you claim you're right often enough regardless of the evidence, then you must be? I'm learning from you, you see."
And you always criticize for such. I guess that speaks much about your hypocrisy.

"I take it you're declaring Renegade, but, then, we expected that."

I'm not declaring any alignment. I'm not going to play to your stupid game. The Council has not called to have Avery stripped of his title yet, either, so this little display of yours is quite pathetic.

And Cas playing to your stupid game is even more disappointing. I wonder if he's the one walking for you, since he's got himself so far up your posterior.

The title of Overlord is being dealt with. Follow your own advice and let those who have the jurisdiction handle it.

What I also forgot to add is that after recalling an earlier post, Ian, you must either be a liar or a coward.

Didn't you write something to the effect of: "If I had more time, I'd take care of 1/13 of the council myself."
In a matter of days, you happen to suddenly have the time? Or did you just say you didn't have the time, to make up an excuse?

Ever so curious,

Well, if you can do that then I suppose I am going to have to take up the fifth baron's ring again. I claim renegade.

Sorry Gunthar, I already laid claim to the fifth. It was better kept in my possession anyway.

Ian,

While Gondar's precedent does exist, I think that since then the rules have been developed to the point where the past precedent has been voided. All the same, however, perhaps this is much better than leaving things up to our current council of Barons. For some reason they haven't been impressing me much of late.
However, unlike Var (who seems to be suffering from a lack of fiber in his diet lately) I do see the humor in all this. Even how it is appropos. Good luck in the rather large and deep morass you will mire things in for a bit. Should be amusing.

Really, Var. I know you can do better than this.

It's a shame you won't declare an alignment. I mean, after all, you could declare Renegade, and then challenge me and solve the entire problem for yourself.

Of course, to do that, you'd have to pull your sword out of your backside, wouldn't you?

Well crap. I'll take the sixth, which stands renegade still. Once I am put in the standings I think I will challenge Ian too.
