I am not surprised that you believe the terms of the duel favored me, Morgan.
It is public knowledge that the Ward has little to no effect upon my person. I use my own magicks to heal myself when I duel.
It is public knowledge that I normally use a blade which has very great magickal powers and enhances my own physical strength and speed when I wield it.
It is public knowledge that Jonalyn has more experience than I in dueling... both in years and in duels watched. I cannot say for certain if she has actually dueled more duels than I, but given the records in the older copies of the Standings I tend to believe she has not.
Now tell me again, Morgan, how these terms benefit myself over her.

Imagine making the same terms to Karnafexx. That he cannot use his signature weapon (sap gloves), but instead, must use steel blade as you demanded in your challenge to Jonalyn. What if you challenged me with these terms and my weapon was an enchanted wooden staff? Would, I, too, have to give up my preferred weapon in order to meet you on your terms? Would you also ask that I hold back my earned skill? If I were too tall, shall I fight upon my
knees so you will think it more fair? Perhaps tying one hand behind my back might soothe your concerns about a "fair" duel.
If you want to duel someone, then duel them as they like to duel. To ask for anything less is cowardly, dishonorable, and reprehensible. Do not try to force them into your concept of what a duel should be fought with. If a person refuses to duel under your terms, do not muddle the situation by saying they must be afraid to duel you or whatever else you concluded. The plain fact of the matter is that they do not wish to go by your suspicious,
restrictive terms of combat.
If people use magic in their duel, it is not your place to restrict them. What you should do is adjust your own strategy to compensate.

The particulars are relevant as the particulars are the terms of the duel. Had there been no terms, then you would be correct that the particulars are irrelevant.
If I understand correctly, and I will admit I am applying a prediction of how I would react, Jonalyn refused to duel Drakewyn based on those restrictive terms.
I wonder had Drakewyn simply challenged Jonalyn to a duel with no other terms other than the Ward would prevent against serious injury or death, would Jonalyn have accepted the duel? We will not know as Drakewyn was too greedy and asked for too much.
Perhaps next time, she will not try to manipulate a duel to her advantage so she has a better chance at making whatever point she is trying to make. Or maybe she will continue making unreasonable terms and add that Jonalyn must wear a too-tight beanie, or lead-filled shoes and dance a tiring jig after each round, as well as fight only with steel weaponry and ban usage of personal magics.

Unless Jonalyn accepted the duel, no matter the conditions, she did refuse the duel. You said so yourself, even though you added an addendum to the end of the sentence.
Drakewyn was utterly correct in saying as much. If you want to argue particulars, at least begin by basing your arguments on the right fact; that she refused for certain reasons. But admit the fact that there was a refusal in the first place.
I'd like to point out the fact Drakewyn was called a liar for stating truth in this case. I'd like to see a retraction of that particular attack as well.

I already tried suggesting that, Turi.
