"Well, I wouldn't call Ganderfald crazy... But then, he did willingly give shelter to a known murderer... for the sole purpose of having said murderer duel for him."

Not that murder is something a sizable portion of this community has never committed or anything...

"As for the Damien challenge, I have and had no obligation to tell you anything, the minute you saw me. My only obligation there was to the Baron's council, the official, supervisors and Overlord."

On the contrary, matters of challenge are the concern of every member of this community. People who feel that issues related to a change in hierarchy are nobody's business but those within the hierarchy itself need instruction in basic sociological concepts.

Amen. Words can't express how irritated I get when someone decides that they don't need to inform the Community of their attempt to become a holder of titled rank. Hell, if I had my way, it would become required challenge procedure. Challenges are *not* private affairs, and anyone expressing that opinion doesn't seem to be indicating that they care foe the Community, even though they are trying to join it's most prestigious and visible body, or
in some cases, it's highest rank period.

I've delayed writing this because my family has been through enough in the past two weeks. There is no need to cause anymore unnecessary drama. However, a close friend convinced me that I should let the community know.

I find it somewhat convenient that after so long without challenges, one comes so soon after Cletus almost dies, especially since Ariadne was in the room when Damien told me that Cletus had been attacked. She was teasing Damien and laughing at him, distracting him from telling me what happened to my husband.

I, personally, don't know whether she chose Cletus because he had recently been injured or simply because he was one of many renegade barons but I think that it would only be decent of her to not push for this challenge to be resolved quickly.

Why should we have a Baron that's practically handicapped? I know, let's give him room to breathe and make him as comfortable as possible. No challenges for many more months.

Ariadne, whoop his ass. It is certainly interesting and common of Arane to jump to such conclusions. Nice of ya to worry, Arane.

Funny Starke, I seem to recall hearing from sources that you were responsible for the attack on Baron Ganderfald. So we wouldn't have a Baron that's "practically handicapped" were it not for you.

You are a cancer on this sport, and it's saddening to have watched you transform from a great guy to this.

Ariadne Angeles,

Yuir first difficulty ist thee hae the ill breeding to address me by mine diminutive, though that ist likely the least of noteworthy of yuir pitiable attributes.

How verra like one of yuir ilk to actually think thee hae nae anna obligation to inform the public of circumstances surrounding a challenge for title. Be thee now making claim that ye were nae to appear that eve?

Ast to mine laughing, Ariadne Angeles, quite frankly, the mere sight of thee ist what brings it on, much ast dost the sight of Master Drey Starke. Both of thee be laughable caricatures, sterling examples of shallowness and ignorance. Rest assured, the fact that thee failed to appear wast nae something I thought in the least amusing, just ast there wast nothing in the least amusing in the fact that Master Starke failed to appear for his challenge.
Perhaps, though, thee consider that part of yuir "fun". Tis thou what be pitiful, Ariadne Angeles. Thou art just another of the jokes which that the Fates hae decided to play upon this ancient sport, likely for the 'fun' of it.

Master Starke,

How verra interesting thee wouldst comment upon a Baron being handicapped. Indeed, nigh amusing, considering thine most obvious and certes severe handicap, that being thine mental abilities.

While I agree with this general principle I believe that the original point of Ariadne's words may have been lost in the focus on whether the community has a right to know or not. While her words to the effect that it was no one's business but those who were directly involved were unfortunate and incorrect, it seemed that her point was not to say that the community and large did not have the right to know. Her point seemed to be, at least to me,
that she, as an individual, had no special duty to answer to Jonalyn, as an individual, about her challenge.
If I am wrong I hope she corrects me. If she truly believes that the community had no right to know, then she is very wrong. However, if she did only mean, as she seemed to me, that Jonalyn had no special, personal, and inalienable right to be the first person told what was going on, then I agree with that sentiment whole heartedly. There are several of us, myself included, who tend to behave (at times at least) as if we need to know everything that
happens and everyone else needs to know what we think about it. To a certain extent this shows community spirit and activism and is a good thing. However, we all need to remember that, while we have the same rights as any other members of the community, we have no special or unique rights or priveleges because of the fact that we are busybodies. Something of which I frequently have to remind myself.

Whoa, it seems your "sources" are nothing but sad assuming fools. I've done nothing to harm Cletus, but hell, it was a good idea.

Maybe if you knew the truth before throwing accusations I would honor you with some sort of respect (I wasn't kidding either). Alas, of all people, I would indeed expect you to go along with whatever someone else says. Oh yeah, I attacked Cletus.

Cas,

I assure you, Drey was not responsible for the attack on Cletus. I have already taken care of that. But really Cas, do you think Drey to have the cranial capacity to fulfill such a scheme?

::thinks whoever attacked Cletus should attack Jona, but this time do the job right::

I agree with what Percy is saying. The entire community has a right to know the involvements of challenges. What Angel was saying, JONA, was that you need to pull your head out of your "holier than thou" ass and get to the realization that you are not a goddess as you think you are. Till this point I have kept my insults of others to myself because they are my feelings and not others. There are many people here that are grand duelers but aren't
good people and vice versa. To some, like you Jona, it doesn't matter if they are good people or good duelers...You have to critizize them anyway.

The reason for this in my opinion is that you feel inferior to the ones you critizize. Therefore you feel the need to make yourself look better by bashing them at every opprotunity you can find. Be it that they were dealt a lose in the ring or them challengeing someone. Don't worry Jona, there are many good theripists in Rhydin that might be able to help you.

Percy

Take the time to peruse the jottings of Ariadne Angeles. She quite adamantly opined more than once that it wast nae the business of the public to be cognizant of annathing surrounding her challenge. Furthermore, she most adamantly stated precisely that same position afore witnesses shortly after her failure to appear for her challenge match and repeated that position upon numerous occasions thereafter when queried by others within the precincts of
the basement.

Let us also nae forget, Percy, that thine own penchant for desiring that circumstances surrounding challenges shouldst be kept from the public, witness thine 'secretive comments' made unto the Lady of Avalon, Morgana du Cornwall le Fay when thee sought to unseat the Baroness. Let us also nae forget thine adamant support for the perfidious and deceitful wench, Jaycynda Ashleana, and thine strident demands that I make public mine reasons for
condemning her. Further, let us nae forget thine leaping to assumptions ast to mine reasons for the condemnation.

Percy, thee hae long been a proponent of secrecy in matters pertaining to challenges, which I must admit be a rather surprising stance when one considers yuir claims to having been a participant in this ancient bloodsport ast far back ast the reigns of Siera of Redwin and Xenograg kathu Darelir. A claim, I might add, sirrah, for which, beyond thine word, there ist verra little evidence.

Percy, thou art ast always, attempting to speak out of both sides of thine mouth. In truth, methinks thee hae nae anna more cognizance of matters now than thee did nigh eight seasons agon. The focus, sirrah, ist indeed that the public hast every right to know precisely the sort of personage what seeks title in this sport ast well ast dost the public hae every reason to question and opine upon those what seek title.

What ist ironic, sirrah, be that certain of those personages what deign to seek title, actually believe they are above such scrutiny ast well ast seem to believe that the public shouldst sit in silence, nodding, smiling, droning nothing but laud and praise. Rest assured, when such a one ast Ariadne Angeles or anna of like ilk issues challenge for title, questions shouldst be raised.

Master Kyle,

How verra appropo, coming from a dead man. If'n I recall properly, thee couldst nae manage the simple task of issuing a proper challenge, then whined like a whipped cur upon thine defeat and didst thine verra best to keep the matter of thine challenge and the penalty lain upon thee from the public.

Certes thee wouldst agree with such ast that ignoramus, Percy. Thine comments but show thee to be indeed among the ignorart rabble what infest the sport. Perhaps it escaped thine notice that Ariadne Angeles be the one what made claim to being a goddess of some kind. Tis hilarous to observe certain of her worshippers.

Master Kyle, do attempt some modicum of originality with thine insults. Thee sound like a little boy being coached by an ignoramus. When one considers the extent of thine knowledge of either mineself or of the vastness of Rhydin, let alone of this ancient sport, one canst merely laugh outright at thee, sirrah. Thine ability to judge the character of another hast long proven inept, sirrah, and certes thee again show thine ineptitude.

Amused,
Jonalyn Starfare
