No ruining our fun now, Ian, my dear.
Anyway, Mr. Pyre, you have apparantly failed to notice that you are little more than an annoyance whom most of us are abusing for our own enjoyment. Of course, you come sadly close to the line between those with and without mental handicaps that it's almost no fun to turn you in verbal circles. Almost. You have just enough mental capacity to make it enjoyable to abuse you and yet not nearly enough to come even close to "hitting a nerve".
In one small way I have to thank you though. I haven't had this much fun putting quill to parchment in years.

Pyre,
You have used that word 'dear' again. I would strongly recommend against it. I might start taking you seriously.
I believe that I would like to see you show the specific example of times when the pen has bested the sword. The pen may record the deeds of high and low, but the sword accomplishes those deeds. The pen would be worthless without the sword. If there was no sword, there would be no history to record. Deeds often live on with or without the pen, however, as the oral traditions of many illiterate cultures show brilliantly.
Indeed, only one ignorant of history and strongly biased against reailty could claim that the pen was mightier than the sword. Especially in this venue, where the sword means everything. I would have to question your connection to the real world.
Tell me, do cockroaches talk to you?

My Dear Ian,
Your modesty is so refreshing and reflects well on you. To think that someone of your immense statutre would ever admit that on extremelty rare occasions they were wrong is touching to say the least. It is unfortunate that you did not do that.

My Dear Sartan,
It is unfortunate that you seem to reflect the current malaise of the spirit rampant in this charming city. Good things do not come easy and do require some effort. Please try a little harder and with a bit of the customary verve.

My Dear Sidartha,
What is one to do about you? Each missive from you degenerates deeper into the realm of incoherence and flying spittle. Perhaps your having a problem with phrasing your thoughts? Perhaps you are feeling a bit vulnerable? I am not sure, but your words are not the ones of a lady with ambition and hope for a better future. If I can be on any assistance in helping you determine the source of your feeling of inadequacy I would be most happy to do so.
Please do keep me informed

Andrew Pyre

My Dear Bleys,
I am pressed for time as events compel me to absent myself for a week or ten days to attend to the needs of others. However, I would like you to do some serious soul-searching of your position on the sword vs. the pen.
I can not take your argument seriously at all, please before I expend energy without purpose consider this. Avery was toppled with nothing but words and the skillful malignant use of them. The reputations and power of various Warlords and Barons have been ruined by naught but the use of words. Indeed, your reputation suffers as up to this point I had considered you a possible candidate.

To all my friends, enemies, etc.
Due to circumstances beyond my control I must depart for approximately 10 days to tend to the needs of the body and spirit.
I will return, as my business here is not yet done.

Avery was toppled because he wasn't here. Words may have been the device that remoed him from his position, but they are hardly why he was removed. Depending on the circumstances, which I am not completely aware of because I was not here at the time, he either has only himself to blame or else is in rather serious danger and was (if that is the case) toppled by whomever now has custody of him and not by the words which voted him out. Indeed, had
actions not taken place first, no words would have been capable of removing him from his title. He did not show for a challenge and was found to be in forfeit. Therefore he either toppled himself or, if he was prevented from showing, was toppled by whomever prevented him from making the date. The fact that you are unable to grasp such facts makes me worry very little about whether you can take my arguments seriously.
Something else makes me worry very little about whether you take my arguments seriously as well. You claim to have some sort of knowledge of me, and yet you know nothing at all about me. The handful of things you have said have been factually inaccurate. I have never been a Warlord or Baron, let alone having been toppled from either position by words alone. I never have any plans to be either a Warlord or a Baron either.
I must say, for a man who has nothing to say, you certainly write a great deal. Maybe you should stop before you accidentally poke your eye out with the pen.

Mr. Pyre~
I find it odd that a man who has the capacity for 20 gold piece words is in actuality illiterate. Or at least as dense as this rock we live upon called RhyDin. If I was feeling inadequate I'd be taking your words seriously. So far, however, I've simply been insulting you for my own enjoyment.

Either you didn't read my last note properly, or you're incredibly arrogant. Either way, I'll restate. My lack of care is directed towards you. I know now what good things would be achieved by my continuing to bother with you or trying to wheedle an answer to my simple question from you.

::Wearily he puts down his valise, pausing to read the odds and ends on the corks and smiles with great pleasure at the idea of his idol Avery returning from the tombs. Finds nothing of interest to comment on in the posts and in a rare moment of warmness towards the human condition allows a small smile to show. Picks up a pen and writes a few words::
I have returned, and am pleased to note the return of Avery and perhaps the punishment of those richly deserving it. For the rest of you, I bear you no malice and wish you well in your pursuits.
Your humble servant,
Andrew Pyre
