He was sitting alone next to a warm blaze when she came in. "You wanted to see me, Khorien?" She took a seat opposite to him and wondered why he wanted her services. All she knew was that he was some crazy wizard the men in change hired to find the blue opal. But she knew that it was worthless. The opal was destroyed, gone, scatered into dust. "Yes, I have need for your special talents. My....sources say that you have the uncanny ability to morph matter. I may have need for that sometime in the future." He smiled, trying to lighten the atmosphere. It didn't work very well, but he still kept up the charade. "First things first, what's the job. I don't just sign contracts without knowing what i'm getting into." She kept up her businesslike demeanor. She didn't like the sound of this. He was just to weird for her to trust him completely. But he just might be trustworthy. She decided to play along for now at least. "Ah, the true business woman. Ok, I'll be frank with you. The people in charge have hired me to find the blue opal. But just in case I can't find it, I want you to create a copy of it." "I might be able to create a physical copy of it, but I can't do a thing about its powers. I just can't do that. But if that's ok, I'll do the job. 500 in gold with half up front and half upon completion. Deal?" She figured it could help her out, get some equipment for her. "Don't worry about giving it its powers. I've got someone else to do that." He handed her a pouch that clinked when she took it. "Here's 300, the rest to be payed upon completion" He didn't like to do this, but his reputation was riding on this job. "Nice doing business with you, Khorien. I'll get on it first chance I get." She got up from her seat, pocketed the pouch, and left, closing the door behind her. A short time later the door opened again. This time it was not Luna, but Seth that walked in. he didn't bother to take a seat. "I assume she took the job?" "You assume correctly. But I'm curious as to why you asked me to use her in the first place. There are many other people out there why could do it better than her." He didn't expect a clear answer. "I need her to complete my plans. Nothing more than that. And stop asking questions. i'll reveal more when I'm ready. The large sum I gave you also binded you to me. If you double cross me, be assured that i will be back to kill you." With that he left.

Old wood creaked as the cranky wizard rested his aching back further into the seat. The power he sensed was more than he could have imagined from someone who looked so young. Truly, he may have seen millenia pass and blessedly not aged a day. His countenance, his demeanor.. it spoke of youth, immaturity, despite his cool style. To Khorien, it was nothing more than a sham, a mask painted to hide the insecurity in his
plans; perhaps it was not that at all. It would take a most arrogant soul to truly believe a man like himself could be bullied. In either case, he was quite sure anyone who had seen centuries or millenia pass like the new dawn would be wise enough to avoid such acting.
This, unfortunately, made him all the more wary of the man. He was strong, that much was obvious. The female could be dispensed with if necessary, but this one who would use her could certainly have the tables turned. After all, the front line troops are the first to die. It was all so simple to Khorien now. This one would lead him to everything he wanted, and when the time became proper, he would take it.
"Pap!" barked the old man. "Get in here!"
Immediately, the apprentice came running, safety goggles limply bouncing about his neck. "Yes, Master Khorien?"
Bones creaking, he leaned forward, a crooked, tooth-spotted grin beginning to surface before his more business like persona showed forth.
"Tell me what you've found."

Luna sat at a desk in her room, hours flowing by like water as she tried to finish the task at hand. She let loose a sigh of relief and satisfaction as she held the object in the air, a blue opal. She knew why Khorien wanted it, but it would be quite useless without its powers. Even if there was someone out there who could duplicate its powers, the opals were sentient. Now just to get this too Kohrien and collect the
rest of her money.
She set the opal down on the table and went downstairs to her kitchen so she could get something to eat. Her stomach growled and she wondered just when her last meal was. She started cooking a few things and set the table for a nice meal.
As her back was turned, Seth slipped by, not making a sound and crept up to Luna's room. He opened the door and cringed as it made a small creak. Hopefully, she didn't hear it. He entered and looked around, spotting the copy of the blue opal and put it in his pocket. He left the room, making sure everything was in its original position. Now that he had posession of the opal, all he had to do was wait for the right time to implement his plans. He
smirked at the thought of everything going according to plan, but he knew things had a habit of popping up.
Sitting in his room, he was slightly shocked as Luna entered his room. Luckily, he had hid the opal in his dresser. "How many times have I told you to knock before entering? You know I don't like surprises."
She was nervous, acting like the world was about to come to an end. "You weren't in my room earlier, were you? Cause I think someone was in there and that they took something off my desk."
"Like what?" He didn't like to drag on the conversation, but it was the best way to remain inconspicuous.
"Sorry, but I can't tell you what. All I can say is that it was something very important to me and a few other people."
"Maybe you just misplaced it, Luna. You know someone couldn't get in here without us knowing. Try looking around and you're sure to find it sooner or later."
"yeah, I guess you're right. Maybe I took too many hits dueling this week. sorry to bother you, Seth." She left, closing the door behind her. Seth had brought up an inportant fact during their little talk. No one could get in without them knowing. That meant that the most likely suspect was Seth. But without proof, she couldn't accuse him. She shook her head. In due time, Seth would pay.

Sitting in his room, Seth twirled the fake opal in his hand. Now was the time for phase two of his plan to go into motion. He thought of Luna for a second, and his conversation with Dunn the day before. Undoubtedly, they would come after him, hoping to end his "mad plans". The futility of it amused him. Here he was,one of the only people to have utterly defeated Luna Mask, and people still thought they could defeat
him. he shook his head. Enough thinking, time for work.
He placed the opal on his desk, wondering just how he was going to do it. He bit his lip for a moment, studying it intently. He held up his hands, focusing his power into a shape like the opal. He snapped his fingers and suddenly there were 4 colorless opals in front of him. he took each of them to the buckets filled with the solutions he had prepared and put one in each of them. He waited for the liquids to soak into each of them before taking
them out and polishing them off. He placed them all together and stopped, pondering.
He cursed himself for not having the foresight of this event. He couldn't infuse the opals with duplicate powers, and the was no way anyone would do it after his assault on Luna. He was more or less a wanted man. he felt like a fool, letting revenge get in the way of his master plan. Now it seemed he was paying the price for his near-sightedness.
Still, all was not lost. He decided to take them back to Khorien. Maybe he knew someone who could help him. He had certainly paid him enough for it. That would be the best option, but he would have to do it soon. He knew that the Luna's misguided friends would try to stop him from doing it.
He paced the room, silently comtemplating. Was he "right" in doing this? After all, all it was going to do was through everyone into a state of confusion and give him a few laughs. He wasn't going to attempt to wrest power away from anyone. He wondered if he was the one played from the start. No, that was nearly impossible. he had laid out his plans so carefully that absolutely no one knew what he was doing.
He shook his head and looked out his window. He should get to Khorien before it got dark.

Seth entered Khorien's chambers quietly and took a seat. For once he failed to have that aura of arrogance around him. "Um, Khorien. We need to talk. An unexpected event has occured that even my plans failed to forsee." He hung his head in shame. He didn't like to fail at anything, especially something this big.
Khorien looked at him sternly. What happened to him that so completely changed his attitude over the past few days? "Do you have my opals? If so, I'd like to take them now. Time is of the essence, boy." He sat back and waited for him to give them to him.
"No sir, the job has not yet been completed. The physical copies are complete, but I was unable to infuse them with duplicate powers. Nowadays, barely anyone will so much as look in my direction. I've become a wanted man in these parts." His lips trembled as he spoke. His own plans were in serious jeopardy. There was a bounty for him, alive if possible, dead if necessary. And here he was, asking for help from some guy who had his own hidden
agenda.
Khorien's voice rose as he continued to stare at Seth. "I don't care what your personal problems are, I just want those opals any way I can. Are you going to give them to me or should I end this meeting right now?" He couldn't believe that this, this kid really, had almost completely blown the job. Sure, it wasn't easy, but he had approached him in the first place, asking him for the job. Now he says that he is unable to finish it? He didn't know
whether or not he should slap him upside his head, or just dump him out with the trash.
Seth continued to shrink back. "I will give you the opals, sir. But before I do I have one question. What do you intend to do with them? I need to know so I can adjust my plans accordingly. I still need all the finished opals for my own personal project."
Khorien sat back. He felt like someone had hit him with a sledgehamer. He fails his job, then has the audacity to try to tell him what to do? He had better find a way to end this meeting quickly, before he got really angry. "just give me the opals and I'll tell you all that i can."
Seth rose from his seat. "I'm sorry sir, but i need to know before I give you them. Once I do, you could just write me out of the picture. I can't let that happen. When you feel like talking, contact me." And with that, he left.
