Chaos in the Outback, Part 1 -- Living Dishes

It all started when Jaycy walked into the Outback for a shift, and no one was there... she couldn't understand it. But it was okay, because Kelli was there too, so she had someone to talk to. Of course, that gave the two ladies ample time to prepare, and while Kelli was setting out her things for the night, Jaycy went to the bar to get them both drinks.

Finding a pile of dirty dishes, the gypsy wrinkled her nose and pulled out a mug decorated with an assortment of multicolored moldy spots. Fighting with the mold, she finally got the container clean, and poured the ale into it. That took long enough for people to start coming in, and it looked that things might be normal after all....

But then. Then another mug, again moldy, dropped from the sink and started.... moving. It started slinking toward the ring Matt and Andrew were in. Amazingly, it went largely untouched as moldy tentacles dug claws into the floor and brought it closer and closer to the ring.

Finally the renegade mug made it into the ring, and went for Andy's foot, trying to strike with those claws... to which Andy threw the mug to a far-away couch... the living container issuing a high-pitched scream as it bounced off the cushions. Not a happy camper, the mug changed... it grew to the size of a small chihuahua and made its way toward Andy once more.

Meanwhile, Seth nicely offered to do the dishes, to which of course, Jaycy agreed. He began them, and they sat still... for a time. Then, a huge fungus covered plate leaped from the pile, and began attacking Seth! It dive-bombed the man, trying to keep the fungus from being washed away. Backhanding it, the angry plate went down... only to be replaced by several from the same set, trying to get Seth away from their fallen cousin.

Finally, a blast from Seth, one which shattered a plate, got the others to settle quietly in the sink. But cooperation was not to be, as the mold itself fought removal from the dishes. Calling Jaycy over, Seth frowned as suddenly everything went quiet. No one could understand it... as long as Jaycy was near, the mold behaved.

Using his chance, Seth cleaned the rest of the dishes... the moldy mug simply dying in the ring, left there.

Settling down, Kelli and Jaycy hoped to finish the night quietly... but of course, it was not to be.

Oh no.... luck was not with the ladies this night.

Simply doing their jobs, Kelli and Jaycy didn't hear the creaking... or notice the swirl of sawdust from a ring in the corner. At least, they didn't notice until it was too late, and there was a full-blown tornado!

The tornado swept through the Outback, slowly weaving through the rings, covering the duelers with a light layer of sawdust as it made its way directly for the calling couch. Jaycy, not sure of what to do, stared at the threat, while Kelli dived under a table, continuing her calling.

Luckily for the ladies, Kelli put a shield around the couch before the tornado could do them harm... and so it moved again... this time toward Ring Styx, where its shape shifted once more... becoming a staircase, as if beckoning both callers and duelers to use the ring.

Its message sent, the sawdust scattered, covering everything in the Outback...

Was this night of... terror over? The ladies could only hope. And groan, as their hopes were denied.

After a brief respite, it began anew. From the corner, a thin line of smoke wafted to the ceiling, soon to be followed by a loud crash. Metal smashed down on metal as the top of the BBQ slammed down onto the grate. Looking over to the BBQ, Kelli and Jaycy noticed to their dismay, small flames were shooting out as metal crashed down on metal once more. Eyes widening, they didn't know what to do, or what to expect. Just as long as it didn't come
after them...

... but it did. Lifting first one side and slamming it down to the ground, then repeating the motion with the other side, it slowly made its way to the couch. Taking her chance, Jaycy sent Harl and Matt to Ring Styx for a duel and dashed to the second floor, safe, leaving Kelli all alone down on the first with the BBQ.

With a raspy, smoke filled voice, the BBQ called out to Kelli... saying she used it. Saying she used it, then shut it off. Thinking quickly, Kelli threw a dagger at the sprinkler system, setting the entire thing off.

It solved one problem, but created a whole other one...

Re: Chaos in the Outback, Part 4 -- The Fern

... The Outback was now covered with a thin layer of water. What to do, what to do?

Well, as it turned out, they didn't have to do anything. The water began disappearing, but where it was going to, no one knew... at least not right away.

But then... a tremor. And another.

And suddenly, a great fern shot out from the floor of the Outback, growing swiftly, framing the various rings. About the main room, various other ferns began... applauding.

This fern, this large fern, was rather friendly, and just sat there... and sat there. Through the last duels, it sat there. It looked good, but it wasn't moving.

As the last rings closed, and the last patrons left for the night, Kelli, Jen, Jaycy and Matt mulled over what to do with the fern... knowing Rask wouldn't be happy with the hole. Not coming up with any viable solutions, other than blaming "Fernie", they turned off the lights and left it as it was for the weekend.
