There is no cowardice in Taylara's inaction, and to say so reeks of self-righteousness. What does the Overlord need to prove here? Damien's already made it obvious that he is no more loyal than Barons Morgan or Starke. He can't be hiding under the alignment to limit challenges against him to one per month, because no Baron nowadays receives them so closely together.

The Overlord will not give Damien an excuse to challenge. She will not give him the chance to mask his true intentions.

The Overlord's not afraid; she's not folding her hand. Instead, she's calling the Baron's bluff.

Perceptively,
Deluthan

She is not calling a bluff. She is sacrificing her integrity by allowing someone to insult her and remain Loyal.

If she had any backbone, she'd make Damien a Renegade and face his challenge. But then again, this is the Overlord who confessed that keeping her title is all that matters to her. Even if she loses all respect during the process.

Deluthan,

While ya are a loyalist, ya are not spokesman fer Taylara. Yer statements are no more "perceptive" or truthful dan my own assumptions. I'm waitin' fer Taylara ta come out and offer up a reason why she allows Damien ta remain loyal.

I'm well aware she feels no need ta justify her actions as Overlord, as such I should not expect an explaination forthcoming. Luckily fer me, I'm in a position ta remove an Overlord I cannot respect. Live by da blade, die by da blade, a motto fer true fighters.

Let's take this from the top...Damien challenged Var, Damien won, Damien declared Loyalty to the crown, but why? Only Damien can answer that question, anyone else can only speculate. He has made it quite obvious that he bears no loyalty to the current Overlord, but the choice was his to make.
The general consensus is that Damien chose to stand Loyal in hopes that his demeanor would offend the Overlord to the point that he would be realigned to Renegade. That in turn allowing him the opportunity to place himself, before any other, in a clear shot at the Mantle. I find that a tad selfish and self~serving.
Damien had the opportunity to align Renegade to the Crown which would have allowed him the same opportunity, but behind that of *one* other person. I'm sure there are Warlords that have entered this tourney in the hopes of winning that title free shot at the Overlord. Grant them that privilege, Baron Mortis. As a Baron of the sport you have ample opportunities to vie for Overlord.
Coward, no ... for either way I would have to face the challenges. Desperate for Loyals, no ... for I know there is no loyalty behind the Baron's alignment. And if ignoring insulting words, mind you I said words, is sacrificing my integrity then my integrity would be non~exisitent by now. My integrity remains intact because I can look beyond those words; to me that would take a lot more backbone then knuckling under a mere insult. Rix, never
once have I confessed that the title of Overlord is all that matters to me that is your personal concept. If Baron Mortis seeks to stand Renegade, he'll do it by his own volition.

Tayalara,

I would expect by your reasoning then, should you survive the Warlord Tourney prize winner's challenge, that you will immediately realign Damien Mortis to Renegade to maintain your "integrity". Which I am of the opinion you have none whatsoever even before this issue arose, and it is painfully obvious not by your words, but rather by your actions, all you care about is glinging onto the Overlord crown like a mother would a child to her teet
despite the fact that your milk is posioning the child.

Rest assured if I place high enough in the tourney, hopefully winning it, I shall pass over any available Baron ring prizes to take that Intercession free challenge to your title. In all my years of dueling in these halls you are probably the worst most pathetic example of "Supreme Dueler of Swords" I have ever witnessed both in and out of the rings. And considering how vocal I have been about some past Overlord's actions and beleifs that's
saying something.

Loyalty means nothing to this woman. She has no concept of it.

Of course, her former husbands could tell you that.

Taylara was a far more appealing person quiet, obedient, and on her back. I think she'd be a more appealing Overlord this way, as well.

Well, I for one am happy ta know Taylara is not a coward and is merely looking out fer da well being of a future Warlord Tournament prize winner. ::is careful the sarcasm dripping from his pen does not ruin the parchment::

What a benevolent and kind Overlady we have, truely a breath of fresh air.

No, joking aside, its quite foul at what poor justification Taylara chose ta defend her pitiful actions. I hope she enjoys her 24 day grace period, it just cost her some respect. If Taylara was privy ta da rules of DoS, mayhaps she would realize you may postpone a challenge 3 weeks (21 days) from da time it is issued. just maybe, 3 days means da world ta her.

Taylara, you allow a Loyalist to insult you yet remain Loyal. He has all the benefits of a Loyalist and he could spit in your face and you would not realign him. That is not showing integrity, that is showing you have no honor and would allow such acts to continue, giving the man all the benefits of his position, all in the name of delaying a challenge for as long as possible.

And I thought you said the only reason you stepped in for Ariadne against Zen was because he would eventually threaten your position as Overlord. That is saying, as much as keeping Damien Loyal, that you don't care about anything but keeping your title.

Damien, if you're reading this, it means you got all the benefits of being a Loyal and you're going to stay there for a while no matter what you do. I hope you take advantage of this and show as much disrespect to the Overlord as you can. After all, she has the "integrity" to not let that bother her.

Enough.

In a move that certainly did not surprise me, Damien Mortis has retired the 10th Ring.

Jeff, you had your chance to challenge the Overlord... you did not take it. Perhaps if she retains the Mantle after dueling the prize winner of the Tourney, you will take the opportunity then.
Of course, I expect that Drey will be doing that, so you may wish to hurry your missive along once the Standings showing that result are posted.
Rix, if you have such a care about the integrity of the Titles... duel more often so that you might challenge for one again.
Lupton... it has already been stated, but I will post the exact section of the Rules for you to read... since you obviously do not know them as well as you claim.
3. Barons can either be aligned with the Overlord or not and respectively titled Loyalist, Renegade or Neutral.
4. New Barons must proclaim their alignment upon accepting the ring. If not it is at the discretion of the Overlord.
For additional reference:
4. Renegades may petition for Loyal or Neutral alignment pending approval of the Overlord. The Overlord may refuse the realignment for any given reason.
Obviously, the rules state that anyone gaining a Ring may proclaim themselves Loyal without the Overlord's "permission".
Even reading the Histories, one can clearly see that this is the case.

Drakewyne,

How easy it must be ta tell us ta all shut up and seem da honorable peacekeeper. Why can't I expect an Overlady ta act with honor, at da very least bravery in da face of detractors? Is it my personal responsibility ta remove any and all Overlords I do not respect?

Quite da contrary, I have a right ta voice my opinion against an Overlord or Overlady I see doing a poor job. If *I* choose ta challenge I will do so, until such a time my words will suffice. Certainly, I have proven myself by my own blade, and am not a hypocrite in my expectations of da "Supreme Duelist".

Damien's retirement, and everything else you posted do not change Taylara's choices and our opinions of said choices. Ta be blunt, ya may have had enough, but I haven't so just mind yer own business.

I suppose I am inclined ta refer ta a common cliche. If ya can't take da heat stay out of da kitchen. No one asked ya ta participate or regulate our flame war versus Taylara. It is not yer job nor yer place ta do so.

Funny you should tell me to duel more, Drake. I wonder if you would tell Ian or Kalamere that they should duel more, as well. I'm certain they care for the titles as much as I do.

And of course, you haven't exactly dueled lately either. Oh, wait, you're too busy. I suppose I am, too. Or maybe you just don't care. Seeing as how you're always telling people to take over your job, I would wager that to be the case.

My Dear Elijah and Jefferey,

My my, you both talk and act so much alike I feel this one missive can deal with both of you at one time.

To begin with the rabid behavior you both are exhibiting is full of sound and fury but that is all there is. Neither one of you have any better claim to nobility and honor then Taylara has. Indeed, Taylara has more as she does at least try and communicate in other then belicose tones, bitterness, or blatant disregard of the proper rules of social congress.

Elijah is a dead man walking. You, my dear Jeff have become an institution complete with empty belltower and ivy covered features.

In the end, your own words will betray you and like so many before you, your mortal and for that matter immortal bones will be swallowed up in the dustbin of broken things.

Your humble servant,

Andrew Pyre, or whomever chose ta sign in his fashion,

If it is Andrew, I find it incredibly humorous ta be called and empty belltower, overgrown with ivy from someone who has rarely ever dueled. I suppose my best reply would be somethin' ta da effect of, better a has been dan a never will be. Yer hypocracy is without bounds Andrew, and yer entire existance of DoS resides upon our message board, not in our rings. How convient it must be ta wage yer wars simply with words, have ya no blade ta back up
such words?

If it is someone impersonating Andrew, I'm most curious how you can pass judgement on anyone when ya are too scared ta name yerself, in fear of reciprocated commentary.

I refuse to acknowledge Andrew Pyre's statements and contribute to the trite of fungus he spews on our corkboard while he does nothing to be a true part of this community.

While the Baron Oakenshield and I have had our differences I am sure everyone will be in agreement with me that he is one of our foremost leaders of the sport in many different regards and has more than proven himself by blade and deeds as a title holder and his words should hold more respect here than that of AndrewPyre's.
