"As for my acting like a guild mouthpiece, well, I'm not voluntarily doing this..."

Oh, I'm sorry... would you like me to let go of your arm and stop holding a blade to your throat?

Really, I was wholly unaware that anyone was forcing you to address this community against your will. I do apologize for my obvious stupidity in failing to grasp your dire situation. Please, by all means, if I may assist you in freeing yourself from the horrible influence which forces you to write these missives, do let me know.

Or, perhaps, you merely don't know what the word "voluntarily" means.

Regards,
Ian Rex.

Lupton,

<< I wasn't aware I was speaking of you, but I'm sorry you consider yourself an idiot. One's image of one's self is vital to their success as a person. >>

I, for my part, had no idea you weren't speaking to me. Everyone around believes I'm an idiot (hyperbole, but you get the point), so I assumed that you were speaking to me. If you weren't, I'd like you to know that I'm no idiot, however many think I am.

You completely misunderstand. I simply wrote a notice about the guild, and then G is shoving words down my throat, and one thing leads to another and, Poof! I'm stuck here. This, however, is not voluntary, not in the ordinary sense.

If you do not want to do this, then have the self-control to step away from the cork and leave well enough alone.

I'm sorry you believe everyone thinks you're an idiot. I sense a downward spiraling self-esteem in you, something you should really look to improve.

Not true.
It would look like you and the rest of your guild had the maturity to stay silent in the face of empty words and let your actions prove your original statement. By arguing with people who have no interest in joining your guild, who have strongly held opinions in regard to guilds in general, and who cannot be convinced otherwise by argument, you prove that many of the things they say are true.
If you really wish to prove yourself and your guild, be quiet. Don't return empty words with empty words. Just let your actions speak for you.

If you don't want to do it, don't. Life is all about choices. You make a decision and accept the consequence. Either you a) respond disgruntled or b) Let it go and allow others to think what they want. You can be creative and handle it another way I suppose, but those are the two options I can think of.

You are voluntarily doing it. I am voluntarily officiating every Saturday night. Of course, I can always just say one Saturday night "I'd much rather just duel tonight." If I did, I would have to determine if the consequences of my decision would be worth it. In either case, I still have a choice.

It's all about choices. Nobody's forcing you to do anything. You just think the consequences of not responding are worse than the consequences of responding, in which case... that's your problem, not ours.

Having seen members of this "Guild" personally in action last evening in the Arena...

I can safely say that I am right so far.

Likely, it will continue and I will still be right, as always. Mores the pity.

This guild is like all others before it.

G,

If you comment on thier dueling skill, I should remind you that this guild does not specialize in the Arena, but rather the Isle and Outback. If you mean something else, be clear about it.

I highly doubt G would judge someone based on ability inside the ring in this instance.

Your continuing comments on the boards also seem to support the idea G is talking of your behavior outside the rings.

Methinks the guildie doth protest too much.

Since you don't seem to be understanding what others have said... my advice for you.

Shut up, stop responding on these boards. Each time you put something else up to say "We're different" you're showing just how NOT different you are.

Go about your merry way, guildie, and keep your pleas about being different off the boards.

And have a nice day.

My comments about dueling skill aren't important, and it wasn't about dueling skill to which I was refering.

It was behaviour and attitude outside the ring of which were that of a typical guild dink. Regular power hungry type who thought themselves the better.

One, who for a moment, gained a little respect by saying he quit your guild, but lost it immediately after by saying he's starting his own. But the fact that you say you and your people screen people to let them in led me to believe easily that your standards are, of course, low.

The overall actions and behaviour of your people were as every other guild I've ever had the unfortunate luck to witness.

But then, that's not a surprise.

There will always be people to give the word "guild" a bad image.

That is because guilds are bad images. It's brought upon themselves.

I'm pretty certain Gnort feels the same way about Atrebla as well.
