Challenge for the 4th

Post by DoS Archive » Sun Nov 07, 2004 6:51 pm

((As copied from the letter of challenge sent.))

On this morning of March the Twenty-Second, I do hereby issue challenge to Baroness Karen Wilder for the right to wear the Fourth Baron's Ring..... I issue this challenge without any vehemence towards the Baroness, as I have nothing against her. This is simply for the ring itself, with no driving force of vengeance or anger, only the drive to possess the ring and the title of Baron. Whether the Baroness wishes a single duel, or to offer a Best of
Three, I will accept either that she desires.
I would like to make it known that it is my hope that the Lady Stormi could officiate the match on the night of the Challenge in question, should she be available, and should the Baroness agree..... If the Baroness prefers another to officiate, though, she has but to name them...... As to the place, day and time, well, the first I shall leave entirely to the Baroness, as I really have no preference, and the latter, I will await the Baroness to
offer times that would be convenient for her, and then I shall simply see which is the best thereof...... To our future match I wish the Baroness as much luck as I wish myself, and may the best of the two of us walk away from the night with the ring on their finger.

Yours,
Strallen Corackshnea

Gentles,

How verra amusing, tis the lad dost challenge for the ring, desiring only to possess the ring. Tis precisely why the once glorious sport ist become merely a petty amusement.

It matters nae whether the challenged or the challenger wins this match. The ring be sullied, the sport dishonored.

The sport is dishonored because the match itself at least holds some semblance of respect to it? Instead of alot of yelling, insulting and name calling? Would you prefer I disagree with Karen on various matters, even dislike her, and because of it try to drag her name through the mud, and have mine drug through it as well? Is that what you consider honor, Jona? Is that
what you think a Baronial Challenge requires in order for the Ring in question to remain pure? In order for the sport to remain pure?
Well I'm sorry to tell you that I for one think that to fight with respect for your opponent, to even like them, to have no desire to rip them to shreds, has honor in and of itself, and in no way 'sullies' the ring, nor dishonors the sport. If you think a Challenge needs two people tearing into each other to be worthwhile and to maintain the sport's honor, then I really ought to think even less of you then I do already.

Always,

Jonalyn;

It seems you forget something. My challenge to Jeff had no propose but you honored it. Least my friend challenging is of the same value not afraid to admit he wants the taste of the 4th ring.

To all concerned..... I and the Baroness have agreed upon the specifics for the duel, and I just recieved confirmation from the Lady Stormi that that time is acceptable for her as well, so I hereby set forth the details to you all....

The Challenge match shall be in the Best of Three format.....
It shall be held on Friday the Thirtieth at Ten o'clock in the evening.....
It shall be in the Arena itself, where all those dueling on the regular eve, as well as those who come to watch it alone, may view it. Again, I wish luck to both the Baroness and myself.....

Until Then,

It has always been my opinion that holding a challenge match in the arena during regular dueling hours is disrespectful to all parties involved.

It makes things much too hectic, distracts from both the challenge and the regular duels, and the result is generally an utterly forgettable challenge. Show some respect for everyone else and move it to the annex.

To Rix: In my opinion does not distract people at all, and actually increases to the honor of the challenge because it allows it to be seen by more, but........

((Copied from a letter sent to the Council and such))
Well, though the Lady Stormi initially agreed to the place, it ends up turning out that Nych vetoed allowing it to be done in the Arena, and though I asked him why, he was too busy at the time to offer a reason for it, so....... Anyways, it appears we'll be forced over to the Annex for the Challenge in question if that's alright with Karen, Stormi has already agreed.....

Strallen's a moron. Rix is right. You guys can find somebody else to call Friday night if Nych gives in because I'm not going to be a part of that particular disaster.

That's all I've got to say about that.

All,

For what its worth I favor the Baroness and wish her well in the defense. I would also wish she showed up a bit more often in the Arena. I dunno, sometimes people get an honor and dont come around no more. Oh well, give it some thought.
