Results of the Challenge for the First!

A couple nights ago I had the honor of officiating the match for the right to hold the First Baronial Ring. A bored Jesse Troyan met the defender, Daelin Dragonsblade, in one duel.

The Baron dueled under the royal blue banner with a gold embroidered dragon at full wingspan clutching two swords in its talons; the banner of Dragonia. The Baron Cassius Gaius Maximius stood as his Second, and he dueled for the honor of the absent Marit.

Jesse had no colors, no second, and dueled for the honor of no one.

The match itself was a long one, thirteen rounds. Jesse quickly scored the first point, but after that, Daelin scored to first tie, then lead the match. Once Daelin took charge, Jesse would never really catch up.

The first five rounds saw only three points scored, one for the challenger and two for the Baron. Quickly people called for blood, and in the sixth round, saw a masterful show of defense in which the Baron outmanuevered Jesse to score a counter-strike for the full point. This brought the score to three to one, Daelin's favor.

Another round of no scoring came next, then over the next two rounds Jesse used simple defensive strategies to bring the score to three to two. No scoring was found in the tenth round, as Jesse seemed waiting for the straight attack and Daelin parried high.

In the eleventh, Jesse stepped back and found himself caught by the high cut from Daelin, which made the score four to two. A moment later, Jesse came right back with a high attack of his own, landing the blow right above the Baron's too-low parry. In the end, though, Daelin secured the win by stepping away and landing a strike past the challenger's ineffective high parry.

Daelin Dragonsblade defeated Jesse Troyan, five to three in thirteen rounds, to retain his right to wear the First Baronial Ring.

Congratulations!
