EDITORS Column Anarchy in the Arena by Garumph Fondor
As reported to me and verified by an interview of several reliable sources they have witnessed a descent into the maelstrom of anarchy. In a shocking display of barbaric behavior the notorious slaver Anubis brutally attacked Lexi after she had defeated him in a match in the DoS on the 21st day. Without provocation, as she was congratulating him on a good match he charged her and kneed her in the stomach then continued the assault. In short order
many of the patrons were involved in the riot which went on long into the evening. Many a stalwart member of the DoS will be sporting cuts, bruises and other marks of this unhappy event. All men and women of valor condemn the wanton cruelty of the slaver Anubis. It is the opinion of this editor that this vile man be sent into exile for his actions.
Official Events Reporting? One of the distinguished clientele of the DoS stated that in writing of the challenge matches we are but repeating information already known on the cork boards. While this is true, we do this as a public service. Please let me know your opinions, it is our intent to avoid redundancy. We have included a match from the DoM as a matter of courtesy
DUEL OF MAGIC
A Challenge to the Keeper of Air, Irus Greylock, was made by Tim Enralyte. The challenger won in two duels, 5-0.5 and 5-1, and is now the new Keeper of Air. A challenge has been made to the Keeper of Earth, Ceoz "Knight," the lost Prince, by Xavier Blight.
On a more disturbing note, we have come across some references of an entity called the “Pale Soverign”. This creature is apparently attempting to find a way to tap into the powers of the isle like Alysia the guardian of the isle and the Keepers can. It is not clear what this creatures intents are, but in time they will unfold.
DUEL OF FISTS
Tarenth Thorn has stated that as the Eternal Opal he is the best fighter around. You have to admire a man for his convictions and beliefs.
THE SOCIALS
Rumor has it that GoldGlo has fired Ria. One can only speculate as to why this occurred. One of the speculations making the rounds is that a certain young lady, high in the DoM has run afoul of Ria who seems to feel that all of the young woman are pursuing Chris. Pleaaase Ria, Chris is not at all good looking and his penchant for walking about the city with a club on his shoulder speaking archaic words of something called “beeseball” can only
lead one to believe he is touched by the gods.
The Baroness Wilder is such a treat. By her words one would get the impression she was a gentle soul. By her actions one learns rather quickly that her spurs are used to ride more than horses.
The inestimable “G” has returned to the world of the rings. He has been seen amusing his acquaintances and friends with his quaint commentary on people. He is such a tease.
NEWS OF THE CITY
Once again a city bank was robbed and looted by a gang of cut-throats, a beautiful, scantily clad lady, and a wizard of impressive powers. The lady charmed the security officers until the wizard was able to summon a earth elemental which cracked the vaults. With fine control the wizard was able to confine the activities of the elemental in a very narrow zone. The band of cut-throats were able to disarm and route the private security force. This
is a gang of professionals. If you have any information please contact the First Bank of RhyDin. A suitable reward is being contemplated by the Board of Directors.
The body of a Knight of Thunder has been found under the bridge footings of the Temporal Bridge. No marks or wounds were detected. The bridge keepers guild has offered a 10G reward for information. A message has been dispatched to the Thunder castle.
A vast body of rats was seen frantically racing away from the structure called Higgins Tower which has taken on a faint blue radiance. This will bear watching, however the Wizards Guild has declined to take action until or unless sentient life is endangered.

Dear Editor:
A note in your Socials section began with the following statement:
"Rumor has it that GoldGlo has fired Ria."
I'm not entirely sure to whom your reporter refers in this comment. I assume the latter referent is Miss Alexandria Wells; beyond that, one is left to guess as to whether your reporter is alluding to either Commander Matthew Simon, or to Lord Nycholas de Gyrlington.
Would it be possible for your reporter to (a) clarify this matter and (b) explain for the benefit of your poor, addled readership just what this "GoldGlo" reference is about?
Regards,
Ian Rex.

Chris is good looking, it's BASEBALL, and he is touched by God.
Oh, and Ria's a babe.

Masters Fondor and Grady,
I am not sure where you are getting your information from, but the above excerpt from your publication most assuredly is not fact. I am unsure as to whom this entity you refer to is, but there is no one that is "tapping into the powers of the Island". Most assuredly, if this were the case, I would know of it immediately due to my complete bond with the Island. The goddess knows I hear and feel every thought and sensation the Island does. I would
think that uncommon or unusual drawing of mana from the Island, or attempt to do the same, would certainly fall within those.
I would further offer that such statement could be seen as liable in inferring that the Island is unstable or unsafe, both of which could be presumed in logical thought. If such were to happen, it would distinctly unbalance the delicate balance of the Island's powers and prove a danger to both myself and the Keepers of Twilight Island.
Rest assured, if a loss of duelists and business of the rings ensues from this erroneous assertion by your publication and reporter, I shall seek advice and representation in recovering said losses from your offices and persons. Especially in light of the ArchMage Challenge Tournament occurring this coming Sunday and Monday nights.
I have offered my time to ensure that your publication has accurate, factual and timely information about the activities of Twilight Island and the dueling rings there. May I suggest that you avail yourselves of that offer rather than dreaming up inaccurate information from the bottom of a bottle? I am sure my office is a little more difficult to find that the end of a bottle, but surely not that much more so.
Oh, and kindly note the signature at the bottom. the name is spelled A-y-l-y-s-i-a, not A-y-l-s-i-a. I would be much appreciative if you at least spelled my name correctly. My parents were rather distinct in how they named me and the spelling.

Aylysia,
You are a silly goose. Please be advised that it was Garumph Fondor, not I that commented on that ridiculous infestation you appear to be having on the Island. I did take the time from my busy schedule to reread what he said and I am quite sure he used the word "attempting" vs. actualy doing something.
As to your comment you are in tune with your island I would hope you are not as big, green, and dumpy as it is
Sweetly,
Evan

Mister Grady:
First, it pains me that you yet fail to understand that "Rex" is not my surname. That someone so uneducated as to not recognize the standard form of address for royalty has a position of informing the community is sad, indeed.
If you feel the need to fail to address me in proper form concurrent with my station, might I ask that you at least do yourself the courtesy of failing to appear the fool, and refer to me as "Mr. MacKenzie." Just plain "Ian," "Lord Tynsdale," or "Your Highness" are also acceptable.
"Mr. Rex" is not.
In reply to 'Evan,' whomever this may be, I can only say this:
Neither I, nor anyone else I have spoken to, knows who this "GoldGlo" person is. Again, I ask that you clarify which of Miss Wells' employers you refer to; Commander Simon or Lord de Gyrlington.
Surely this minor task isn't beyond your capabilities; but then, after all this time, you also haven't been able to determine G'nort Dragoon-Talanador's name either, so perhaps I shan't be startled.
Regards,
Ian Rex.

Dear Editor,
Your rag, which currently is being used to help train my pet dog, would be best served if the Editor actually performed a spelling and puncuation check on it before publicly distributing said rag.
I noticed numerous errors in your paper as I was laying it down on the floor, and I must say, at least the guildish mentality is still the same, but if you're going to pawn it off on us here in the Dueling areas, you might want to get it right.
Errors in spelling, puncuation, names, and actual stories/events is more disturbing these days. Especially considering the lack of guilds around here to mock.
*G*
P.S. If I've any spelling or punctuation errors in my missive, well, that's because I'm just me, not an editor who gets paid to make sure those errors don't happen.

Your pardon, Sirrah Evan Fondor, since you are not the editor, to whom my missive was directed along with the reporter, Eli Grady, one would assume, apparently mistakenly, you
intelligent enough to realize that one, the missive was not addressed to you, and two most certainly no one stated that you wrote the article in question. It is customary, in the event you are ignorant of the fact, to write the publication's editor and the known field reporter regarding inaccuracies in an article. Should I have issue with a Social section article, be assured you will be addressed in place of the field reporter.
Your insults truly do show your education and "skill" with the pen, sirrah. How droll. As to an "infestation" on the Island, since you and your dubious kin have not, to my knowledge, visited the Island, I would consider it safe to say, there has been no "infestation."

How very grateful we are to have you to speak in place of the publication's Editor. I'm sure we all feel much better knowing that the man who issues editorials and reports inaccurate information has such a sterling individual as his gossip monger to speak in his stead.
Regardless of his wording, since neither the Grand Magi, myself as the Island's bonded Guardian, nor the Keepers of Twilight Island have sensed any such purported "attempt," your editor is still dreaming in the dregs of his bottle. Perhaps he should hire a more reliable reporter? Or make habit of being fully informed himself on the matters he would editorialize on by confirming the veracity of his subject matter?
Since you at the Rhydin Times Reporter seem to be of slow wit, I shall state again, for you. There is no attempt to tap into the mana of the Island by any outside force, being, entity, creature, or individual or personage. Continued repetitions of that allegation, should they cause a loss of business to the Island and rings thereon, or loss of spectators and combatants in the upcoming AMT, will only bring about a press for reparation
on the sport's behalf by a representative retained by me on it's behalf as the Island's Guardian.
In regard to your "busy schedule" I would suggest you spend more of it proofreading the materials you submit for publication. Perhaps not reading and responding to missives addressed to your editor would free the time for that.
Twilight Island is a place of varied beauty. The landscape encompasses many climes and landscapes. Something you would know if you troubled to visit it's shores.
How kind of you to offer comment on my looks. Perhaps you should speak with your field reporter, Eli Grady, as he was seen eyeing me in the Area some nights past in a most common fashion. A gawking street urchin could not have been more common, especially in light of the fact that I was in the company of my companion at the time. Rather than introducing himself, as would have been seemingly and polite, it is said he remained at the bar quaffing
ale and babbling questions to any who would hear regarding my identity.
