A Surprising Coincedence

Something fascinating has occurred to me today. Something that, due to a lack of serious attention given to a challenge in which I was not terribly interested, I do not catch as soon as I really should have. It makes me wonder if anyone else, for the same reason as myself, failed to notice this same fascinating fact. If they have, then I am sure they will say so
and this will all come to nothing. If they have not, then I feel it absolutely necessary to enlighten the community.
The Baron Cory Havoick was, until last week, Renegade to the Overlord Cletus Ganderfald. Fine. Everyone who holds a ring has the right to align themselves, as they choose, to the sitting Overlord. I admit I am not quite sure whether he chose this alignment himself or had it given him by the Overlord simply because he failed to choose himself, but for whatever reason he was Renegade. Also, for whatever reason, he had not yet chosen to realign himself
as Loyal or Neutral.
Then, last week, Cory was challenged by Ariadne. Also, last week, he petitioned Cletus for Loyal alignment and this was granted. I find this to be a very interesting coincedence. That a Baron who has been Renegade suddenly becomes Loyal around the same time he receives his most recent challenge is a fascinating turn of events. Even if something deeper is not at work, it is a coincidence worth of comment.
I would certainly have to say that, if Cletus were now to intercede for his new Loyal Baron, this would create a certain amount of suspicion to accompany the comment. At least in my mind.

Percy,

Nothing surprises me with how people manipulate the rules and the sport to further their own ends. Who knows what and how it all happened, but that kind of behavior has been the norm around here for years since the Baron titles were developed.

I am aware that the Baron changed alignment and also that it was done right after I pressed challenge. Furthermore I am expecting Cletus to intercede for his new loyal. After all, isn't that what this sudden change of alignment was made for? Should the OL interceed, I will look forward to meeting him and his loyal in a ring.

For those that seem to care about such things,

The Baron Havoick sent me a letter two days prior to Ariadne's issuance of challenge saying he wished to meet with me and discuss his alignment. Anyone who knows me knows loyalty is something I do not take lightly and is something I do not consider fickle. After Cory and I had met to discuss his alignment, we sent word to the council and officials saying such.

The subject of Ariadne and her challenge was never brought up. I, in fact, did not learn a challenge had been issued by this wench until later that night when I returned home and had a chance to persue my missives.

Sorry to disappoint you, oh expert on wenches, but I don't know Cory personally. Certainly not well enuogh to have any motive for spouting against him personally. As for hypocrisy, you are more than an expert on that subject as well. I realize that this is a public board, but I am not certain that you realize it is generally considered a good idea to know what you are talking about before you open your mouth.
I made my comments, Cletus furnished me with an answer. Whether I am satisfied with his answer or not will be determined when the challenge itself takes place. What is important, however, is that he gave me the answer I sought.
