Challenge for the Sixth

Ladies and gents,
twould seem the ring of the 6th has no champion after all.
The chosen champion, Baron of the 10th, Cassius Maximus did not appear at the appointed and agreed upon time this 27th day of June and at the 9th hour and until the 10th hour.
A sidenote is that the warlord, Jacob Dandy was present for this match as well the original match against the former Baron, Ramus Llegron Tidewater.

This matter has been passed to the Duel of Swords Commission for review and a ruling as to the status of the ring.

This is a very unfortunate circumstance, when not only does the Baron under challenge not defend his ring, but the champion selected by the council to defend the ring in the Baron's absence also shows himself less than reliable. It would seem, to me, that Messr. Dandy has been more than patient in this matter. It would also seem to me that his patience in the face
of an utter failure of those whose duty it was to defend the ring to discharge their duties should count for something.
Rather than allow this situation to continue, I believe the Duel of Swords Commission has only two options. Firstly, they can return the warlord's peer wins and allow him to challenge anew. Secondly, they can give him the ring as reward for his responsibility and patience. Personally, I have no preference between these two options. However, I strongly believe that to appoint a new champion after both the ring's holder and the council's champion have
failed to fulfill their duties would be to further draw out an already appallingly overextended series of farces.
I also believe, considering the series of farces that has prevented him from dueling for the ring for which he challenged, that the commission would do very well to consult with Messr. Dandy before making any final decision. The gentleman has certainly earned a right to give his input with his patience.

I would feel the ring I wore had no meaning if I had acquired it without a fight. I hope that guy feels the same way, cause it would be a shame to see a coveted Ring simply given away.

While I understand your point of view, and agree with it up to a point, I think that this is no longer just another 'Challenge as usual'. The Baron failed to perform his duties. The Council then performed its own duties, but its appointed champion failed to perform his own. The warlord has now been effectively stood up twice. Once by the Baron and once by the Council champion. This has necessitated the official's taking a hand in the matter. While I
am still not satisfied in my own mind as to the legitamacy of the 'Commission', they are still the duly appointed officials of the sport.
I feel that it is time for them to cut the deadwood out of this process and make a real decision. The warlord has shown his willingness to fight for the ring. He has shown up for not one but two separate dates to do precisely that. It seems, that other are not equally willing to fight for this ring, however.
As a result, I feel it is time to stop jerking Messr. Dandy around. Either give him the ring or give him his peers, but don't subject him or the rest of us to another farce.

Officials,

I would be happy to put up peer wins at stake and duel Mr. Dandy for the right to wear the 6th. I would indeed show up and I believe regardless of the circumstances all titles should be fought for and not given to someone. I agree that Mr. Dandy has shown patience and has been commendable in this situation and therefore would further believe if given the choice he would continue to honor the titles and elect to fight someone for the right to
wear the title rather then be handed it. At least that is what I would like to believe and would hope for and offer my blade for.

At your service,

hold the phone
Jacob has seen fit to allow the Baron of the Tenth a final opportunity to champion the council. They are rescheduling the match as the Warlord prefers the fight rather that freebie so to speak. I am told the match will be held this coming Monday but knowing the way things go around here, it may change

I don't think he should be "given" the ring for his patience. Patience comes in many forms. Soon enough we would have to give people the rings because the baron they challenged tested their patience with stupidity. Or we'd say the baron doesn't have to defend the title because his patience with a stupid challenge is good enough.
Personally, I think he should choose whether he wants to fight another champion or get his peer wins back so he can challenge someone else. If he wants to fight another champion, let the council pick who. It's okay to acknowledge someone's patience, but let's not just give him the title.

I am glad to see that Jacob prefers to fight for the title and is giving a reschedule a chance. Let's just get this done and have it settled once and for all.
