"This doesn't happen to be about the crown, Cas. Besides, since when has
your opinion been a popular one?"
It seems to be a common opinion on this matter, at least.
" Baron of the Sixth,"
A title I once held. Perhaps I should try and hold it again, no?

Hold on a minute.
Th' Baron Corackshnae tells everyone thet he's challengin' fer th' crown simply because he made a promise thet he would challenge whoever took th' crown from Seamus.
Then he goes an' tells th' Roman thet, "This doesn't happen to be about the crown."
This has everythin' tae do with th' crown, as it be th' crux o' th' matter.
Ifin it don't be about th' crown tae ye, then maybe ye shouldnae be talkin' about challengin' fer it.

Baroness Wilder, it indeed is not about the crown. It is about a vow I made months ago. Nor was that vow about the crown. The vow was about at least making an attempt myself to bring down whosoever might manage to defeat Seamus. Should Sartan manage to defeat Ralez before I can make the attempt, he would in doing so deny me the completion of my vow. And let me assure
you that when I give my word to myself that I will do something, I more then dislike it if that word is broken.
Thus, all things considered, should Sartan win, I will have just as much if not more reason to challenge him then the current Overlord. For I will no longer be looking to complete a vow, but I will instead be looking for the restitution of a vow I could not keep. If the public so wishes it, I have no problem with retiring the crown the moment I gain it, should I gain it at all... But I will have that challenge, one way or another.

Baron of the Sixth,
This is a sport. Unfortunately, we're all ignorant of the laws in Strallenland. I know that's no excuse for ignorance in your own little world, but out here in reality, we don't know you're going to do something unless you tack up a huge sign. Thinking back, I vaguely recall you stating, outloud, you intended to challenge Ralez. Now, granted, I have zero attention span, but I've looked over most of the boards and I've checked the Arena for even
medium-sized signs saying "I'm going to challenge the Overlord - Love, Strallen". Can't find anything. There were about ten people in attendance for that particular challenge. About half of them were barons, two of the rest were fighting the challenge, and one of them was observing.
So besides a couple of words spoken in front of a huge crowd of roughly ten people, how did you expect your intention to be heard? I'm slightly suspicious about Baron Var, but I'm fairly certain the rest of the folks in attendance aren't gossipy grandmothers, so not many people heard about this intention of yours until after the fact. I'd suggest you break out the construction paper and the fingerpaints now, Baron, if you're going to once again
intend to do something. At least let the rest of the Arena know what you're planning before they completely disregard it and overstep you anyway.
While I'm here, let me give everyone a lesson on intent - it doesn't mean anything. Sometimes I intend to use the bathroom in the morning. Sometimes my family beats me to it. Know what I do if I know I'm going to reeeeeaaallly need the bathroom in the morning? I get up earlier. And that's what you have to do, Baron Number Six. The road to hell is paved with the intentions of people that don't back them up. And the side of the road is littered
with the bodies of people that sat down to cry about not being able to back their intentions up. Ironically enough, it's always someone else's fault, too.
Maybe all the other barons should camp out in front of Charlie's house and follow her to the Arena on the day she puts up the standings, then they can all throw their pieces of paper at her and see which one she reads first. I wonder how many challengers can overstep Strallen's "intent" to challenge before his head explodes.

While normally I don't make issue of this, nor do I usually think this is the place to ask... but what?
I'm curious what the above line is making reference to, Nova. I'd appreciate clarification.

Sorry, G'nort, but I just received three applications to be my buddy and none of them have your name on them. I'm afraid I can't allow a queue either. Please go back and read my lesson on intent. Thank you.

Nova, on the first point. I don't even know why the bunch of you are trying to argue that angle either. To my knowledge, within my visibility, Sartan has not claimed once that he wasn't aware of my statement of intent. Until he does state something to that effect, it doesn't much matter whether I bought everyone T-Shirts for the occasion stating
the Intent; because that's obviously the kind of extremes you expect people to have to go to. So long as he was aware, your point is moot, so try waiting until he does state something to the effect before arguing about that point.
As for Intent. I never stated that there was a rule that allowed for it to override all other challenges, I never implied it, I never even bought a T-Shirt for it, though I'm sure you would have. I've never once said that my statement of Intent had any effect whatsoever on the rules, never said once that it somehow prevented someone else from challenging. But that does not mean Intent did not have meaning.
You know, long ago, people had this insane idea that the world didn't revolve around caring about only themselves. They actually tried to have some semblance of courtesty towards others, they actually tried to uphold some sense of integrity, if they could. They focused at least somewhat on the world outside of their own desires. Sure, these may be outdated beliefs, but are ours really any better? The popular theme to thought nowadays seems to be
"I'm going to do what I want, when I want to, and to the hells with everyone else", an opinion Nova, G'nort, and others are obviously fans of. But in reality, it is that sort of thought process that has sent Rhydin, and most of the rest of this world, to the hells with it. To believe in only your own wants is the quickest way to bring down the world around you. That happens to be the only 'lesson' that matters. Because otherwise all others are
eventually torn down because of their 'inconvenience'.
Disgustedly,
Strallen

Um, can someone tell me how Strallen ended up with a baron's ring anyway? Strallen, all I have to say is you are such a putz. You are a title holder, and you don't even know the rules, and you try to use your position to make others look inferior and dishonorable. Please, someone put him out of our misery.

Lets make the facts clear and concise.
If you "intend" to challenge, do so. Just saying you intend to means nothing.
That's it. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

You assume quite a bit, Strallen. And we all know what happens when one assumes. Here's the long and the short of it:
Long before there was ever anyone intending to challenge, there was a code of honor whereby no one blamed anyone else for what was essentially their own fault. You intended to challenge. You weren't fast enough. I can't say I pity your situation. In fact, as long as you're bringing up the subject of self-importance, I'd have to say your blaming the fact that you do not get to uphold your promise on someone else is tantamount to self-importance of
the worst kind.
You keep coming back to someone suggesting there's a rule that talks about intent. Or someone saying your intent held anymore meaning than a bunch of air being spewed from the business end of a donkey. Your intent obviously has meaning. To you, and you only. And this promise means very little when you do not have the speed with which to back it up. How long should people wait to give you the opportunity to challenge ahead of their own
intentions? Just long enough for you to be able to get your challenge in first? At the end of the day, your promise to rain vengeance upon anyone that defeated Seamus turned into a new promise to rain vengeance upon anyone that would get in your way of raining vengeance. Tell me, Baron - where does the cycle stop? With each new party you blame wrong-doing on, you spiral further into a self-important world where your words take precedence over the
intentions of others.
You've made it a point to blame Sartan for stepping ahead of you and to suggest I wait until Sartan says he had no knowledge of your intent before saying anything. I suggest you read his message that says he intended to challenge for Overlord long before your promise to rain vengeance upon the evil that defeats Seamus came into being. In fact, I heard him say it once or twice before I heard you say it. So, Baron Number Six - when and where do your
own words become more important than those of others? Caring about oneself indeed. The world isn't against you, Baron. Nor are we of the Arena essentially selfish and uncaring people. You just think that's the way it is and I have a feeling nothing anyone does or says will change your opinion on that. More's the pity.
