Results of the Challenge pressed by Warlord Sartan unto the forty-sixth Overlord of the Arena's Duel of Swords, Ralez Raistlin!

Let it be known that on the 27th day of this 12th month, 2001 Rhydin year, Warlord Sartan defeated Overlord Ralez Raistlin in a Best of Three match contest.

Dueling under the colours of red and black, Overlord Ralez wielded a ceremonial saber, the Baron of the Eighth, Nova Grey Shadow, as his second. Warlord Sartan raised "the blade half in shadow" known as Vengeance in salute as the first duel was about to begin.

Fighting not just the Overlord, but seemingly his own weapon, Sartan nonetheless had a 4-1 lead by the sixth round. Mounting a noble comeback, Ralez had the Warlord at 4-4 in round nine. The following round, despite his difficulties, Sartan, with a thrust, reached a 5-4 win.

After a mutually requested pause, and speculation as to whether the match should proceed in light of Warlord Sartan's struggles, the second duel commenced.

From round one through seven the challenger continued to lead, Sartan holding 4-1 again by round seven. As Ralez cut next and scored, it became increasingly apparent that Warlord Sartan's condition was failing. Let the record note that the Overlord requested a break which I readily invoked. Dismayed, Warlord Sartan appealed for us to continue. After listening to comments at ringside regarding the Warlord and his wielded weapon and the
implications of not carrying on, as well as the Warlord's plea, we recommenced.

Round eleven saw the Overlord take one more half point as he parried a low cut from the shadowy sword, Sartan's Vengeance, but round twelve sealed the challenge as, once more, Sartan thrusted for the win.

At this time, after concerns ran high in the Arena tonight regarding Sartan's health, I witnessed his return to consciousness, and so I announce to you Sartan, the forty-seventh Overlord of the Duel of Swords.

To the Abyss with accursed swords! May the new Overlord rid himself of that foul piece.

I shall report, although former Overlord Ralez admonished that such things should be left to the Standings Keeper, statements overheard tonight in the Arena: I did hear Baron of the Fourth, Gnort, say he shall be Renegade to the new Overlord, as well as did I hear the Baron of the Tenth, Var, say he shall be Loyal. May the record reflect that these were simply voiced and were not official written statements by the two respective barons.

Allow me to be the first to post congratulations to Sartan and to state that Janella was an excellent official to have call this match. Best wishes to both, especially Sartan as he recovers. I also request that the community give him some time before taking up a challenge.
