Results of Challenge to 47th Overlord

Let it be known... on the twenty-second day of the first month, this two-thousand-two Rhydin year...

Renegade Baron Drey Starke pressed challenge unto the 47th Overlord of the Duel of Swords, Sartan.

The Overlord exercised his right to a Test of Worthiness of the challenger, calling the number-one ranked Warlord, known simply as The Hood ((TheHoodedWarrior)) to be his champion. The Hood accepted.

In response, the Baron stepped aside as Drachen ((Ace 0f Spades)) entered the ring as the Renegade Baron's champion.

Let it be known that I, Janella Vallonia, the official presiding over the match at that time, did declare:
Baron Drachen, official standings currently listing him as Unaligned Baron to the Overlord, ineligible to intervene on Baron Starke's behalf due to the fact that he is not listed as Renegade, nor is he ranked as Warlord, which the rules specify must be true in this instance.

Baron Drachen thereby attempted to make motions as if to abdicate his ring and title, expressing the intent to intervene as a Warlord on Starke's behalf.

By my sword, regardless of precedents which speak in favor of or otherwise, I ruled that we are ranked or titled according to what current Duel of Swords standings say we are. Let the record note that the standings do indeed list Baron Drachen as Baron of the 9th, yet I am led to believe that he is indeed holder of the 13th ring. Regardless, a Baron is a Baron is a bloody Baron! I stand by my original statement which I
issued at ringside: those Barons who wish to abdicate their rings should notify the Standings Keeper appropriately and not trouble MY conscience with such spontaneous acts upon the moment of an ensuing challenge match!

In continuation of this Announcement...

Warlord The Hood went on to defeat challenging Renegade Baron Starke five to two in seven rounds.

Upon victory, The Hood exercised his right of immediate challenge to the Baron. In a duel which lasted ten rounds, the Warlord was again successful, defeating Baron Starke five to two, thereby earning the right to the Fifth.

Notes of Interest include:

No particulars were stated to me in reference to the above two duels, except in the case of the last match in which the Warlord requested Overlord Sartan as his second and the Overlord did respectfully accept.

A score of 4-0 in the fourth round of the initial duel - what could've been a perfect "five in five" if challenging Baron Starke had not seized two points following.

Baron Starke having discarded first his broadsword, used in the first match, then his mace in the second, in favor of fists. Let the record reflect my opinion that Baron Starke should dash his political interests in the Arena and come to the Outback, where such tactics are rewarded.

And finally... to conclude this:

After championing the Overlord against challenging Renegade Baron Starke successfully, nominating the Overlord himself as his second in his baronial match versus Drey, and defeating the Baron to win his way to the Fifth ring, the new Baron "The" Hood declares himself renegade to the Overlord.

Congratulations to Overlord Sartan on retaining his title, and to the mysterious Warlord 'The Hood' on achieving the right to bear the Fifth Baronial Ring.

I remain,

::soft laughter rings through the good ol' Basement::

Oh good gods, I need to come to these things more often.

Congratulations, Hooded One (whoever you are), on your win, and thank you for keeping it interesting. One wonders what other surprises you have up your sleeve.

Yours in planning to attend more often,
