Letter from the Overlord

Post by DoS Archive » Wed Nov 17, 2004 7:20 pm

To the Patrons of the Duel of Swords,

My name is Lord Dalamar Ar'Daumon. Many of you I remember from my time here years ago, and it is with great excitement that I look forward to seeing you again. To those of you who have arrived in RhyDin and discovered the Arena since my departure, I shall endeavour to make myself present as frequently in the Arena as is possible during dueling hours so that I might make your acquaintance.
To clear up what might be a bit of confusion, I am sure that many of you who have been present in the arena recently or who have taken note of the challenges are aware that one known simply as The Hood challenged Sartan recently, in a duel to be fought this evening. As might be clear at this point, I was the man beneath The Hood, choosing to wait until the completion of my return to unveil myself to those I did not know and those that I remembered
fondly alike. If any of you may feel cheated or betrayed by my desire to remain in disguise until this point, I sincerely apologize for hurting you with my actions.
With that said, as is the point of this letter, I am here to inform you that by virtue of my victory against Sartan this evening, I am the new Overlord of the Duel of Swords. I have no intention of making a stance on any kind of policy. Quite simply, I know my rights as the Overlord and shall determine how to implement them depending on what I deem fit. If any of you have any questions about me as either an Overlord or simply as a person, I
encourage you to voice your concerns. I will make myself available to those who I know and do not know alike in the coming weeks, as I am sure my return is a shock to many.
I look forward to seeing all of you in the Arena as soon as possible. I have always believed that the Overlord, as figurehead of the sport, should be an active presence in the arena. Accordingly, I assure you that, if nothing else, I will make sure to spend my time in these hallowed halls.
As I continue to digress, let me just conclude by saying that it is certainly a joy to be back among your ranks, and I hope that I will be able to fulfill both the skill and honor required by my current station until such time as fortune deems fit for me to relinquish it to another.

sincerely,
Dalamar Ar'Daumon
Lord of the Dale
Guardian of the Oldest House
Master of the House of Stone

Look at it this way, Drey...

You're no longer the only undead around here.

Raise your hand if you ever saw Dal's body.

Anyone?

Only person I can recall that knew for sure what happened was Roland, and he's not exactly around anymore. So this talk of being undead or coming back from the dead can stop now. Unless you all want to look like you don't know what you're talking about . . .

He's undead.

I am sure. He even has the smell of the undead on him. It's scary.

Rix,

If he just left, and never actually died, he's got a hell of a lot explaining to do.

~Sidartha

She stepped back from the board, running a finger over the original note tacked up by him, her pale eyes clouding in confusion and...hurt.

"He died," Sid whispered emphatically to herself, "I know it...I *felt* it."

With a quick twist on her heels, she strode to the bar. Digging out a bottle of the finest scotch from Ian's stash, she took a glass in hand, but instead of pouring the amber liquid into it, she simply gulped down a mouthful of the scotch directly from the bottle.

She had moved on. As painful and as slow as it was, she had moved on. She had the heart of a man who had patiently and respectfully let her mourn now. And still, memories flooded back, ripping her heart in two.

"Damn you, Ar'Daumon!" Sidartha ground out from clenched teeth, flinging the empty glass towards the Southern end of the Basement, watching as it smashed against the wall where the banner of the Oldest House hung ((or once hung)).

And then, with another gulp of scotch, she went about the task of putting the world around her into a haze.

Funny, I don't really remember anyone checking Dalamar's pulse or his breathing. I do recall me swinging Vengeance in everyone's general direction in an attempt to free up some space around him, though. Whoever checked Dalamar that thoroughly in the few seconds before I drove them back must be quite the physician.

You should get "word" from better places, Karen.

Dal was dead. He was dead when he dueled for RDD. I saw his lifeless corpse fighting. He looked dead, smelled dead, was dead.

That's dead.

Dead people walking are undead. So, he's not dead, but undead.

Dal is undead.

Go me.
