To the DoS staff,
Except for Renn and Var, and Altara now that she's back. The half of you need to be fired. Thanks a lot for not showing up for your shifts tonight as seems usual around here. At least in DoF and DoM they are nice enough to write us a note here if they are gonna blow off the patrons. Nothing bums me out more getting ready for a night of dueling, get all stoked to find my groove and it gets derailed before I can even get more than a duel or
two in. No, I am not trying to power duel, but sometimes it takes a couple duels to get warmed up. If I had known there would be no caller after Renn tonight, I wouldn't have bothered coming at all.
Please, if you are gonna continue to shirk your duties around here and blow us off regularly without covering your shifts, please quit. Or at the very least if you are gonna blow us off, you could at least give us forewarning and post something here so we know. People get very annoyed sitting around the Arena waiting for a host to show up and one doesn't.

I had told Renn that if things got busy enough, I might come in to cover for Celes. She told us ahead of time she would not make it and asked if someone could cover.
Our callers do all they can to make sure someone covers up for them for the days they cannot make. I had the opportunity to, but didn't. If you have an issue about the lack of another caller showing up this evening, please feel free to discuss it with me.
For the record, I do apologize to those who wanted to duel and I didn't cover for the callers who told us ahead of time they could not make it. I also apologize to those callers, especially since they are being blamed for something beyond their control. No excuse for it, just poor judgment, and me wanting to duel for a night.

According to my knowledge, Thursday nights were Renn, me, and finally Celes. I'm taking a break because I've better things to do with my time. I'm not the only one who has taken a break or quit so maybe it would be best to be nice to the few callers that are still putting up with you all.
I'm sure Celes was simply cashing in one of the many personal sanity days that she has earned.

If a caller makes the effort to cover for himself/herself, and figures someone will be there, there is no reason whatsoever to inform the public. The caller has every reason to believe someone could fill in for him/her.

I do, and I believe the other callers, understand how you feel when you can't duel. However, understand that we callers do our best to make sure someone does come in to fill for us... and while I can only speak personally here, I do not find it necessary to inform the public of a "potential closing early" when I reasonably believe someone will show up to fill in for me.
Believe me, E. You've got great callers who care about the duels, the history, and the integrity of the sport working right here, and I hope you reconsider what you said about them in your earlier writings.

While you have generally shown respect to those holding queue or calling in the arena, the next one that addresses me as maggot or any other such name, as was done on the first day of my return, will not be treated as politely as the last one that did.

Is it too much to ask the DoS staff to follow the suit of their peers in DoF and DoM by posting notice when they are gonna fail in their duties so that the community is not left in the dark? If the three sports are to be as one and work similiarly as one, isn't not also fair to expect the staff to act similiarly as one and get the same courtesy as patrons of Swords as the patrons of Fists and Magic do? While I could have belabored the point
about missing shifts as more often than most do make them, all I was saying is it would be at least nice if they could give us a heads up so we're not wasting our time sitting in an Arena without an official expecting one to show up, if maybe a little late.
While some may be annoyed with me and my attitude, I think I have a perfectly valid point that the officals at the very least could keep the duelers informed as to what the schedule is and if there is gonna be an irregularity in the schedule so the patrons do not have their time wasted wondering if one is gonna show up or not. I'm no longer one of the regular DoS callers so the whole "you guys" thing in your response is kind of false. I can make far more money showing a little leg in that calendar for Gravy Boat than I can putting up with all the whining and griping.
It's just like any profession. You get what you pay for. If you pay people very little, they don't hold much loyalty to the job. Perhaps a benefits package would help. Heck, I might even come back if they threw in some kind of medical plan.
As a patron, I'd rather the callers tried to find coverage than immediately putting up a note which calls off dueling for the night. If I head into the Arena and there aren't any callers, my heart won't be broken. There's always next week.
Try not to be so uptight. Meditate or get drunk or something. This isn't the end of the world. The sun will come up tomorrow.
