Gettin' This Off My Chest
From: ticallioncarter@aol.com (Ticallion Carter)

I got something to say,
1) If you don't like the notice I posted to the boards 'bout the challenge. That's fine, you have to deal with that on you own, sounds like a personal problem. I was just trying to do the "right" thing and let everyone know about the challenge. If you don't like the way it sounded or whatever, fine. That's just my style, and I'm not going to change for anyone.
2) About this "right" to challenge thing and Test of Worthiness. I don't know if you bought this up because of me or what, but if you did, then again that's cool. I'm just going to say one thing about this, I fought pretty hard in that Tournament to step in a ring with THE BEST not one of the Best. I think everyone who fights in any Tournament does that. I said it before in my letter to the Overlord, he's supposed to be the best that ever fought
here, that's enough for me. If I placed 1st or 2nd, I was going to take the Title Shot, I'm just a competitive person. You can't penalize a person for doing well in a Tournament and at least getting a prize, what's the point in competing then if you aren't going to get what you went there to get? It's a Tournament, come on, keep it real. Besides, it all depends on what everyone else picks. If the 3rd or 4th place wins a Baron's Ring, do you want to
take that from them? Or better yet, I bet if you won you wouldn't be saying the same thing. I don't mean no disrespect or nothing, but I know you wouldn't.
3) Hey, I'd rather the challenge be a Best of Three. Why? Because, where I come from, everytime you want to be the best, you have to go through playoff series and win more a certain number of times in those series. This is the same way, plus, like I said, I'm competitive. I want to fight the best as long as I can.
I'm probably going to take some heat for this for some unknown reason, but it's cool. I've been through worse than being hated on by words.

I asked 'cause no one's worthy of facing my Overlord. I don't know you and this has nothing to do with you really other than the fact that you fit the billing this time around.

Sartan,
Nobody is worthy of facing the Overlord? Geez man that don't make a bit of sense since the whole structure of our sport is continuous improvement.
Dalamar is just another duelist who is very good at what he does. The fact that some Barons hide behind him to hold onto their rings doesn't speak well of them. But that is what the rules allow.

Yup. No one is worthy of facing my Overlord for his title.

>Why?
'Cause he has no need to prove his skill again. He's the Overlord because the title should be his; no one dueling is worthy of a shot directly at him, in my opinion.

Okay.
Why should the title be his and noone elses?
I have nothing against Dal. And if he has no need to prove his skill, why bother being Overlord?
No offense, but you need to get your nose out of his butt. Blind Loyalty is pretty sad.
He's the Overlord, and therefore, is subject to being dueled as many times as it takes someone to challenge him. Just saying "He has no need" and "Noone is worthy of dueling him" is no reason whatsoever to say the title should be his.
The Title is no more his than it was to any other previous Overlord who held it.
And sorry to burst your bubble, but he's not all that good. Really. Good yes. Excellent duelist, yes. But to say noone is worthy of a title shot is just plain gullibility.
Who are you?

I'm whoever I choose to be and my opinions are mine to state freely. I'd think someone like you would recognize that right, since you comment on most everything that happens around here.
If you'll note, I haven't rammed my ideas down anyone's throat. If anything, you're the one getting more than a bit worked up over this as you had to resort to insults and what not, which I've started to reply to in kind. Oh well, I guess I'm not the bigger person.
You don't have to agree with what I think and you can dislike me all you want but I'm gonna keep on thinking how I do. If you reread the message you quoted, you'll note I said why he should be Overlord so that part of your message is a bit redundant.
As for blind loyalty being sad and my nose up Dal's butt? Whatever bud, I'm always going to back up Dalamar and that's really what it comes down to; if in any way I can prevent someone from stepping in the ring with him I will. I'm not sucking up to anyone, he's my friend. I'm sorry I support my friends?
As to your statement of my gullibility, that sort of doesn't go along well with your comment about you having nothing against Dal. If me believing no one is worthy of taking his title from him is gullibility, who conned me? Dal?
Nah man, my opinions are exactly those: my opinions. I've used parthenticals several times just to make sure that point got across but I guess you kind of missed it while you were busy trying to jump on me so I'll repeat it here. These are my opinions. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything or take advantage of someone's "gullibility." I asked a question in my initial post and then responded to this guy when he thought it was an attack on
him, which it wasn't.
For my conclusion, I'll steal your finish. Who're you to tell me what I can and can't think? Use a pin to let some of the air out of your head or something, but don't go off on me because you're bored or whatever reason you had. All I've done is state an opinion and make sure it was clear that's all I was interested in getting from people.
Like I said, think what you want about me but if you have a problem with me take it up with me in the ring or in private, that's your choice. Your response tearing into me has little to no bearing on what I asked so I'd ask you stick to that initial topic.
This'll be my last response to you, so you can tear into me or do whatever you'd like. If you're that bored, more power to you.

Last time he was challenged, he lost to Marzan. You gave him the title back. That doesn't prove skill. He has yet to defend since his recovery. I think 'your' Overlord has something to prove.

Magnus,
I wouldn't say anyone "GAVE" Dal a title. He is a formidable duelist.
Sartan,
What's with the possesiveness toward Dal? I never you and he were that close.

::Reads of the undying love for the man who would be king and cannot resist adding a few pence::
As I recall, the warlord Carter has "earned" yes earned the right to a shot at the title.
Dalamar's worth, his skill, his right to test the man are not in question but the rules clearly say he, Carter, will face Dal, untested.
Hence he has every right to face him.
As to loyalty, it is a fine attribute but as in the past, it shows that to the detriment of the sport, a conniving manipulator can stay at the top so long as the status quo remains the status quo.
This should prove to be a good match.
I know full well the skills of the Overlord, both on and off the field of battle. I also know the wrath of his minions when he has been knocked off his pedestal.
To the warlord,
Be prepared for a rash of challenges within days of the announcement should you prevail.
Those lackeys will be nipping at your heels like the dogs they are.
