Kidnapping of Te1eperien
Date: 12/19/97 5:23 PM Pacific Daylight Time
From: Runic Ryme
The Kidnapping of Queen Teleperien They could never understand. It was his business, his livelyhood. He was well revered in his homeland because he provided a valuable service to his race. Though not of noble status, his was a position of high esteem to each and all of the high courts and Kingdoms on his world.Runic was a collector. For at least a milenia the peoples of his land were geneticly cursed and none of their modern miracles of science or magic could remedy their population's fatal flaw. Any child fathered by an Anarian would be MALE. Without exception. Even the constant influx of new blood from parallel dimensions had no effect on reversing this tragic genetic mystery. Therefore, all females were collected. When young female children or infantswere brought in, they inevitably grew up to marry the most highly noted citizens or royalty. Adult females collected, if they were willing, were owned and lived out the remainder of their lives as kept Anarian citizens. Those less cooperative were more or less... farmed, to produce the next generations of Anarian males. A tragic but necessary evil for the continuation of the race. When Runic caught sight of the Elf Teleperien, he was thrilled by his luck. Yet another new species with pristine genetic potential. Perhaps this new influx of blood would be the key to creating successful and viably male and female infants. After a detailed report to his superiors, they insisted that the Elf be collected at once.

In RhyDin, Runic only had two advantages. In other worlds, he had more, and some he had fewer. The first is the cloak he wears which permits him minimal teleportation within a very limited range. The second, the simple three-word-phrase which summons a glowing portal to his homeworld. But when utilized efficiently, he needed no greater tricks. Luck was on his side again. Teleperien showed up in the arena. Runic made one courteous attempt to purchase the Elf from a male known as Marzan whom it appeared she belonged to. The offer was refused and there was some debate over the ownership of this rare and exotic female. Runic discounted their protests as insignificant because he was there for a reason, only one reason: To collect her. It was always a challenge, collecting. Sometimes his skills were put to the test. In the arena, all his simple ploys happened to fail. Marzan proved to be a quick witted gaurdian of the lovely Teleperien and even a fairly clever attempt to drug her scotch was washed down the drain. Soon he could see suspicious looks from many of the other men in the Arena. It became obvious to Runic that cunning would avail him little. The tension in the air wasstrong enough to prove fatal to his mission and a decision had to be made. The cloak served him with reliable precision and before any of his many stalkers could prevent it... Runic teleported himself and the Elf out of the Arena. His legs worked hard as he had to rush his prize through the back alleys and out of town. Earlier in the night Runic had scouted out a small fruit cellar in the middle of an orchard. The clear bright moon lit his escape. Again, he was lucky that many citizens of RhyDin mind their own businesswhen a struggling woman is dragged through the streets.

Now, every businessman has his moments when he just can't resist a little gamble. There was another prime candidate for collection, and even more than that, he learned that Teleperien had an infant daughter. And elven infant daughter!! Runic knew that if he played his cards right... he could have Tele, her daughter, AND the Duchess of Navarra who just happened to be pregnant with aFEMALE child! His job just could not get any easier than this. It almost made him want to do a jigg right there in the fruit cellar. One drawback to his profession was that inevitably the females he collected would cry. He had grown accustomed to it, perhaps it irritated him more than anything now. The Elf was no exception and sunk to the cellar floor in tears shortly after their arrival there. Runic gave the standard collection speech and as usual it did nothing to console the crying Lady....who he soon noticed was reaching for a dagger in her belt.Runic Ryme: Hand me that dagger if you will...Te1eperien: ::hands him the dagger..her sobs audible::Runic Ryme: Thank you... ::tucking the dagger neatly away:: Everything about this venture had been convenient. The fact that Collie MacCleod was skilled in telepathy molded perfectly into his plan. With very little effort on his part, he sent her a subtle message. He struck a bargain with her. Collie was to bring to him the Elfin baby Erwyn in exchange for her mother. Collie agreed so readily he was sure that either she was a simpleton, or a calvalry of rescuers would be right behind her...and more likelythe later.

The following events were more or less predictable. Collie brought him the baby and Runic used the dagger to keep Tele under control. Tele was allowed to pick up the baby. His plan was to take both mother, daughter and friend through the portal and be done with it. The trick was getting out of the cellar and into the portal. Technicalities: the portal must be opened above ground and whereit would open was never a precise calculation. Runic's luck finally shifted south when the portal he summoned was nearly 50 yards away down the orchard. Drat. But...as if on que...PrlUnicorn: Let Tele go..PrlUnicorn: I'll give ye myself in return. Perfect, that would do nicely. He would agree and ask Collie to kindly step through the portal, and then take Tele and the child through anyway. If she would only stop struggling! But luck had already turned against him tonight, and it continued to worsen.PrlUnicorn: ::snags the child and makes a run for it::Te1eperien: Collie..::holds out Erwyn..the dagger in her skin:: keep her safe!Runic Ryme: Damn fool girl... !!!Runic Ryme: ::irate howl:: Not so perfect. True to his word, the surroundings were truly luxurious. The night before, Runic had escorted Teleperien to the suites he called her home. After he got her through the portal, Runic was kind, gentle, though he spoke to her as a prized cat or dog. Opening the door, Tele stumbled in, blinded by silent tears. Servants.. young elves as far as Tele could tell, jumped to their feet. He hear Runic bark orders.. unintelligible in her ears. He released Tele..she fell to the floor.. her knees unable to hold her. One young elf knelt next to her.. supporting her. She heard halting words in her ear.. "You are safe.. you will be well..""Give her a bath, and put her bed." His voice was almost kind.. solicitous. He looked at Tele and smiled triumphantly. "Yes master.." another voice murmured. "At once."Runic left the room.. the elves flocked about her.. their soft hands lifting her to her feet. Kind, gentle words floated about her.. "You are safe.. get accustomed.. well treated.." Tele stared at these elves with eyes of shock and confusion. She offered no resistance when they removed her torn and stained garments, and led her to a hot scented bath.. filled with floating petals, and at hand any scented soap or oil she could wish for.The elves left the room, but one. Tele stared at the young elf as she went through the motions of washing Tele's body.. She smiled back shyly.."I am Gwenith." Tele only stared.. but the elf, who must have been accustomed to this, only smiled."Tomorrow you will be well.." were her only words. After she was dressed and her hair dressed, she was led to a bed. Soft.. scented.. soon she was fully asleep.

The next morning was bright and clear.. Tele opened her eyes, sunlight in her face. Blinking, she sat up scattering pillows. Sitting in the chair close by was Gwenith.. the young elf who bathed her.. "Good Morning." She said quietly. "I will get your tea things." Immediately she rose and left the bedroom. Tele looked around with disbelief. Her own apartments at Eldicor were beautiful, but paled in comparison to this room. All in white, silk draperies, art work on the tables, a bed spread.. thick and cushy. Pillows on the expensive couches, and living plants of all kinds. A bird in a beautiful cage hung in the open window, where the smellof spices floated in. Slowly Tele got out of bed, throwing back the blankets. Looking out the window.. she never saw the like in her life. A sprawling city, strange towers with roofs that built to a sharp point.. but a base that was round and slightly flattened. Warm air flowed through the window.. She studied the bird for a moment. It was beautiful, white and grey plumage.. with the slightest touch of yellow at it's neck. It peered at her with intelligent blue eyes.. and sang softly to her.. Tele reached a long finger into the cage.. "NO!" Tele jumped and swung around.. her heart pounding.. Gwenith stood with the tea tray in her hand, her eyes wide with fear. Carefully she set the tea tray down."I am sorry m'lady I frightened you. We are not to touch the bird.""Indeed." Tele's voice sounded strange in her own ears. "Master wished it.. we are to only look.. it's very valuable.""Master wished it.." Tele repeated.. Memory of the last night flooded back unbidden. Tele poured a cup of tea..sipped it thinking. What happened? Why did she act so? She was furious with herself.. As soon as Runic touched her.. she felt helpless.. trapped. Like a rabbit in a trap. She couldn't think.. immediately she obeyed his wishes and gave him the dagger that Collie had given her. A spell? A form of hypnosis? But today her mind was clear, sharp.. And she remembered Marzan.. he didn't defend her.. did Runic cast a similar spell on him? Or did he just catch him unawares, and was unable to react.. she refused to entertain the idea he didn't wish to follow her..Her mind reached out.. hoping.. somewhere.. he could hear her..>>>Marzan... <<<<

The Druid simply waits at Eldicor, protecting Erwyn. Missing the elf......vastly hurt by the comments made regarding her kidnapping. The druid had posted five guards and did not pursue her, because he had no idea where she was taken. The ensuing word spread by some of her friends that he had did nothing...and the word that Teleperien herself thought he had done nothing, had struck him to his heart.
He shakes his head, and moves up the stairs to the attic, holding Erwyn in a wrap on his chest. He takes the golden key given to him by the elf.... opening the door, he enters Nomrah's work room. Without reflection, he takes the green cloak and wraps it about himself. He takes the gnurled staff. Without a second look, he leaves the room and sets out to the courtyard, seeing Tisman and looking about for anyone interested in helping.

::::a messenger arrives at the hoodlum's hide out:::Sir, I fully intend to reclaim my love. We will do this peacefully or violently. I understand your culture is different, and that is alright. But she is my woman. Her and I are attached in a way that your society may not understand. On our planet, females of the sentient species possess an inner strength..a spiritual independence.... this disallows slavery in the light of Honor, unless it is strictly voluntary. I know that on your planet, elven females are prized as gems or treasures. Fine. Think about what you love, Sir.....if you were denied your cut of cash, wouldn't you feel incomplete? You need your cash, I need Teleperion.... If the shoe was on the other foot Iwould be taking your cash.......how would that make you feel? Angry, right? I think you understand me. I am no stranger to combat. However, I also believe a gentleman strives to resolve his disputes honorably. My code of Honor is like your code of Greed. I would not touch your code, so do not seek to press in. You are going to have to reconsider your plans.I want you to take this very seriously. And by the way, I was aware of the beating you recieved at the hands of Viper. ::winks:: The Druid Marzan Deburgo (3-0 in DM's)
