Alignment of the Third Ring:
Date: 12/20/97 6:15 PM Pacific Daylight Time
From: Dark Axe
I hereby announce that I am realigning the third baron's ring of DoS to renegade.
While I still respect Dalamar and think he is one of the most skilled duelers around and a fine man, in my opinion he has repeatedly overstepped his bounds as overlord in issuing tests of worthiness.
It is true that it is the overlord's sole right to decide whether or not to test a challenger, but the name "test of worthiness" does indeed imply that if a dueler is tested, he or she is thought to be unfit or unworthy of making a challenge.
Most recently, Overlord Dalamar tested Huma Dragonbane, a fine man whose right to challenge and whose worth as a dueler can not be doubted. Clearly by testing Huma Dragonbane, Dalamar crossed the line and I can not declare myself loyal to an overlord who has insulted a member of my house, Questrion, in such a manner.
Thus, let it be known that Ulath Fici is now aligned renegade to Overlord Dalamar.

I think you have been misinformed. There was no intercession. I officiated that match, and I can say, truly, I think I would have remembered that minor point.

I would however like to point out that you, not once but *twice* have held a baron's ring and disgraced it by not showing for challenges, thus losing the ring as forfeit. As I recall (and I'm sure shall be corrected if wrong) you clearly stated the reason you challenged the second time was to make up for the terrible display you made in regards to the first.I can understand you not agreeing with the Overlord, but none can state he has not made his presence, determination and skill known and well established in DoS. It is simply my hope you do not step up to the ring and challenge him as that would in itself be the act of disgrace.****Quotes from DoS Baron history****7th ring"This ring was first held by Ulath Fici, otherwise known as Dark Axe. Ulath held the ring for just over 2 and a half months, during which he made a successful defense against Juan Sanchez Villalobos Ramirez. Ulath lost the ring when he mysteriously vanished from Rhydin. After failing to arrive at the arena for a full cycle his ring was placed as a prize in the next WarlordTournament."8th ring"After two months of holding the ring, Ulath was challenged by the Elven Warlord, Raiyko Hideo. When Ulath failed to answer the challenge it was sent to the Council of Barons to decide the fate of the ring."Kaprielle "I'm sure I shall hear from Questrion for this" d'Argent

Baroness,
If I might, I will try and address a couple of things here, and I am sure Ulath will also like to reply to your words and quotes.
History is our best teacher, and though Ulath did disappear from RhyDin for some time, there can be many reasons for this. I know, as though I have never retired a title, others in Questrion have when we decided to withdraw from the realm of RhyDin due to personal reasons.
I would like to point out that the Baron's reign this time has been much different than his other two reigns. The Baron is very active in the Arena, being there for a time on almost every evening. He has blessed us by putting on the RDI uniform and using his skills to let us all enjoy the sport we love so much. He is serving as Team Captain to our Questrion Black dueling team and keeping up with the responsiblities of that in a very professional
manner.
These things I point out, as this in not the same Ulath Fici that you quote from Kalamere's historical center. Though still possessing the excellent skills within the ring that have brought him much reknown, but also new skills shown to us outside the ring that have surfaced in this, his current reign.
Sincerely,
Valmion

The meadow faery continues to read the DoS board. Coming to Kaprielle's missive, Belle just nods. Reading on to Valmion's response, she blinks, whispering in her low, raspy inimatable voice, "sans merci"...

Everyone has reasons, excuses...whatever ya wanna call 'em. But when I was in Lathadoscia I remember how it happened. Baph asked his members ta go renegade, and so we did. Ulath, I'm sure ya believe in yer reasons, but I'll bet ya coulda saved paper and just said Valmion asked us ta. In da end it don't matter, no one wants ya ta be loyal against yer will, even if Dalamar was a friend.

I just wonder if this has any link to Valmion's "secret" deal with Dalamar to duel Draven without a test of worthiness in exchange for his houses full baronial support....
Seeing as how Valmion himself canceled the deal I was led to believe Valmion supported Dalamar...
Strange.
As Jeff said, few people has the stones to come out and tell the plain old truth about things they do. Valmion obviously had a hand in this because Moralitor suddenly chimes in also about how he'll be another Questrion renengade if he keeps his ring.
Ulath his consistently shown his disinterest in his ring and no amount of "third try is a charm" crap will change that. It all comes down to a group of old men trying to recapture the sunrise of their houses fame when in fact the house is in it's twilight.
Lastly, if Huma, Ulath, Moralitor or any other memeber of house Questrion has a legit beef with Dalamar then they should use that renegade status to challenge, not sit around and point fingers at him. Of course they all realize they aren't good enough to defeat Dal and his "loyalists" so they'll stay yellow and safe as renengade barons.
So I give ya' all a big old Yawn because that's the effect yer renegade status will have on the overlordship.

Valmion writes:> Jeffrey Oakenshield, Your ignorance has finally overridden your big mouth. > I will leave it at that.Valmion, As well thought out as this response obviously was, it would appear you have failed to appreciate how all of this comes across to those outside the glass walls of Questrion. It is exceptionally difficult for any of sound mind to fully believe the statement made by Baron Fici. In your response to Baroness d'Argent, you mentioned Ulath's new skills outside of the ring. Apparently truthfullness and the ability to weave a believable deception, are not among them. Huma Dragonbane fought for the Overlordship on September 1st. The time span between that intercession and the day three Questrion Barons declared themselves renegade was three and a half months. Three and a half months to realize that a house member had been insulted?? Would you have us believe Ulath is that daft? Perhaps Jeffrey went too far by suggesting you are responsible for the re-alignment. However, when faced with a lie (or "half truth" at best) such as the one we are being asked to accept here, one can hardly blame us for finding more devious reasons. The members, and especially the leaders, of Questrion should consider giving all of the truth before dressing down as ignorant those would attempt to fill in the blanks. Perhaps you'll bother to share the real reasons with us all and flush out your commentary on Jeff's ignorance.~ Kalamere...

To those whom it may concern.
My reasons for changing my alignment do include support of my friend Huma's decision to become a renegade, but that was not my only reason nor my most important one.
I told Dalamar when I challenged Heath that if he used the despicable tests of worthiness enough, I would change my alignment. Ask him if you don't believe me, I'm sure he'll tell you as he spits out curses surrounding my name.
You can all sit and whine and groan about my changing my alignment and I don't give a fig whether you criticize my decision or decide unilaterally that it was based on some "political" reason. It wasn't, and that's all there is to it, believe it or not.
Ulath.

Billy, it's a shame you show your jealousy so fervently. No one gives a fig what you say about me, so go back to the hole you came from. Dalamar is very good and possibly better than me, but you're not, so stop singing other people's tunes and go home to cry about the fact that you've never been overlord like all of the other duelers considered good around here. Maybe someday you'll get up the courage to try for the overlordship instead
of sitting back and whining about other people and their actions and motives. God knows you have your head shoved far enough up Dalamar's rear end that you must know his pretty darned well.

Upon reading Kalamere's message, I will write yet another clarification.
Kalamere,
It is true my motives for changing my alignment seem bizarre when Huma's challenge to Dalamar was made in September.
My explanation is simple: Huma was not a member of Questrion then. Now, I will be honest, that answer seems like it validates your doubts about my motives, but it actually doesn't. I was angry that Dalamar tested Huma; I hate testing in general and I am angry at every test of a challenger, but I didn't feel it enough to turn renegade to Dalamar.
However, once my friend and housemate Huma turned Renegade, I felt I needed to support him, and indeed I had several reasons, all of them the tests Dalamar had issued.
So when I say that his testing duelers was my primary reason, that is the truth, but I never said that supporting my housemates was not an important secondary reason. Therefore I'm not deceiving anyone, nor would I have need to even if my only reason were to support Huma; in my eyes, that's a perfectly valid reason.
