Some quick questions to bring forth for I do not plan on joining in on this.......
If this is between Rask and Walker, then why did Walker bring this to the public boards. Is he trying to publicly humliate and degrade Rask? Walker knows how to write a nicely worded post, but does he know what a private missive is?
Just wonderin....

It's good as always to see some new participants....welcome, my friends to the road that winds and bends..
Sir Ranger - I would beg to differ with you on one point alone. It is not literally between myself and Rask, but between Signor Rask and Ms. Colton. However, as you know, she is not able to to defend herself in this matter, and so I have elected to do so. As Roland aptly pointed out, I should expect others to add their opinions in such a forum; however, I do agree that many of them don't seem to weigh the facts before speaking.
Falablah, to answer your questions..
I submit to you that this matter became public when Signor Rask elected to have his original diatribe posted on these same boards. No private missive there; then, sir, I see no reason I should be any different. I seek not to degrade Signor Rask, but to urge him to offer retraction and redress for his accusations that I declare are false. If you wish to believe otherwise, be my guest..
And as for..Cletus, is it?
Obviously you didn't take the time to read my original post and the issue I posed therein, or you wouldn't have made such a statement. The issue I broached was relevant - is yours? Or are *you* simply seeking attention? I think it's been obvious why I began this journey - if you can't figure that out, please go back and reread my original post. Thanks so much.
And last:
I will say right now that I do not believe Signor Rask is 'hiding' behind anyone. I would wager that he's simply weighing his decision before committing to any sort of public response. And that's commendable.
Also, I do apologize; my final guest witness was unable to make it in time for the promised posting last evening. I will have that for you in short order, never fear.
Cordially,
Walker.

Penultimation..

My friends, gather round..
We've heard almost every side of this so far..but now I present one to you that's been sorely lacking. The eyewitness account.
Allow me to go back. On the infamous night, Shannon Colton was not alone in her actions. She had with her a dear friend, the noble Karteran. A good friend of Eldarion, son of Aragorn; Karteran was witness to Shannon's every action from the beginning, to the end.
Now, I shall step aside...and let him speak of what happened.

Because, "Cletus", you're wasting my time, and everyone else's, by adding nothing more than spiteful little comments. If you've something relevant to the discussion, then by all means...
Or are you *still* after attention? Then, this one last time, I shall give you what you crave.
Truly, I may be an unpopular individual around these parts, but at least I have a point to my posts, and facts to convey. You, "Cletus", are an Arena lackey, full of sound and fury, and you signify absolutely nothing.
Now please stop wasting our time. The others who've engaged in this excellent verbal sparring may share the opposite view of mine, but at least they have some relevancy; not to mention intelligence. If you can't come up with any of either, kindly toddle on back to the Arena where someone may care.
Thanks so much,
Walker

Personally, I'm still waiting for this Karteran to start speaking.
It should also be noted that I am not defending the actions taken by anyone concerning the Blue Opal... I am merely taking a contrary opinion to yours, Mr. Walker.
I am forming a logical basis of arguement and discussion based upon a simple premise... that Ms. Colton did something wrong... something that had a strong negative impact to the Duel of Fists community. All for the apparent sole purpose of "making a statement."
Thank the Gods she didn't want to make a bolder statement, she might have blown up the entire Outback.
Oh... this is the time you make some snide comment about me being a "Arena Lackey" or perhaps a "Idle Noblewoman" who's "only trying to keep from being bored."
I must say, your insults lack a certain amount of inspiration.

Certainly, madame. I consider myself a fair individual, and on further thought I do believe it's necesary to take the time to clarify my response.
This may surprise you, considering the tone of my reply to "Cletus", but I don't have a low opinion of DoS itself, nor of all those who frequent the Arena. For example, I've been replied to on these same boards by Roland sal Roa, who is quite prominent in the Arena - in fact, did he not recently engage in a Baronial challenge?
But there is a difference between those who simply visit the Arena and DoF, and enjoy both..and those who come over with no reason from the Arena and comment on matters they've got no clue on. This, truly, is the "Arena lackey" of which I speak. And yes, were the situation reversed, I'd make the same comment there.
Let me point out Cletus, for example. Had he made some commentary on the situation that had merit, for the purpose of taking the contrary position, (for example, such as Ms. Drakewyn, Mr. Mr. sal Roa, et al), then that would be fine. But his sole purpose for being seemed to make irrelevant insults, and when called on it, his sole reply was to say "I could read the original post, but why waste my time?"
Why indeed...perhaps, so he knew what he was talking about? So he didn't sound like an idiot? Good heavens, I insult people too, but at least I keep relevant to the original topic!
The most 'information' Cletus could offer is insistently pointing out his duelling rank and his 'team'. So, who's seeking attention, hm?
In closing, I think it only fair that I clarify - I do not make a sweeping commentary of all those who frequent the Arena, and if that impression is made, I humbly apologize. I am making that commentary solely on the like of "Cletus".
That will be my final word on that subject, and on "Cletus" - no further time need be wasted on irrelevant tangents.
Cordially,
Walker.

Well, my friends, I promised the final Proof...and being a man of my word, I am here for the delivery.
Allow me to sum up:
I have already furnished proofs to you that the 'destroyed' Opal was indeed fake - a glass replica. Chosen by Ms. Colton, bought and paid for, and used in her final act as a DoF competitor. I shall leave the 'why' to those who knew her well... her "friends".
Now, I offer to you the final absolution:
I have stated, and shall be backed by a witness, Signor Karteran (whose delay in arriving here was unavoidable, and due to extreme travel conditions - he shall submit his own views shortly), that on the very night that Shannon Colton destroyed the faux Opal, she returned to the Outback and returned the true Ice Dancer to the DoF staff themselves, to their very own locker room.
For proof, I would like to introduce you to my guest...my witness. He is neither able to read or write, so I shall be acting as translator for him. If you like you may contact him directly to inquire as to the truth of these statements; indeed, please do. My guest, ladies and gentlemen, was in fact a member OF that same Outback staff on the night in question - What Izzit?
No, that is really his name - but he says he prefers to go by "Izzy", and I shall honor his wishes. I shall repeat to you, verbatim, his answers to my questions.
Mr Izzy. On the night of the Fourteenth Diamond Quest, the night where the Blue Opal Ice Dancer was destroyed, where were you?
< Izzy in room in floor, lay night night. Izzy no feelin' so good when fight
night comes here, not for fights... Izzy wanted to sit on the couch, but
Kelli and Tera not work... Kelli gotta fight, so can't work same time, else
she get to make herself win! >
Did you witness the destruction of the Blue Opal in the main room, by Shannon Colton?
< Izzy heard loud boom! Sound like everbuddy eat chili then have Jakey ale
for desert! Stick head out floor near bar, see sparkleys fly through air!
Sparkley get in Izzy eyeball... Made feel not nice...>
Was it, in fact, the real Blue Opal itself that was destroyed? And if not, why?
< Opal thingy? No opal... ::Izzy shook his "head" repeatedly:: Not opal
'cause not hurt Izzy. Blue one hurts, make Izzy not so gooey...>
Later that evening, where were you?
< Izzy house... in floor... Izzy always in floor this time, try sleepy...
Get Teddy, sleepy. Hear somebuddy in locker place, Izzy go see. Nobuddy usually
there that time... Izzy think that it was nice Kitty Cat come play withIzzy...>
While there, tell me what you saw, please?
< Izzy see big Shanni lady that punch lots of people in the head. She walkin' in
locker, and make cold in room... Izzy not like this blue one, always so
cold... >
And because you felt her pass close by, you can tell it was the real Opal, by it's effect on you that you'd felt before?
<Izzy start get hard gooey, not nice like Izzy is. Start like ice in pop...happen before when Izzy near blue one. Izzy go way from cold more, look through floor stead... >
Then what did you see her do?
<Watch in Goon locker put blue one, and paper with shiny twisty! Shiny and paper fall.. Izzy likes shiny... want to see lots of shiny in Izzy room? ::gets a gooey grin acccross his face, then
realizes he should ask later:: Shanni lady look in locker from Goon, put all
stuff in there... She make sad face, loud boom, go way... Izzy no see
Shanni lady any more after... She go way? No say buh bye Izzy? >
You saw the shiny paper clip, and picked up the note? Do you have it, and may I read from it?
< Izzy have shiny and paper... Izzy get... ::After a few moments, returns with a
small piece of paper, minus its paper clip. Holds it up to Walker:: What
want with this? color book page?>
Allow me to read this note to you...which was placed in the same locker with the Opal.
"I know what this will mean, and what'll be thought of me... but sometimes you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet. And if what I've done tonight makes even one person change for the better, then it'll have all been worth it. Anyone who knows me knows that I'd do anything in my power to stop what's been done with the Diamond, and to the sport. This was my last fight, and I had to throw my best punch.
Here is Ice Dancer, safe and sound. Please see that the next person to hold it will treat it right. If not for me, then do it for the sport.
~Shannon"
And now, I continue with my guest..
Will you swear that you are speaking the truth?
< What truth? Izzy say what see... That same thing? Izzy stuck under
floor from dirt long time... Bar fall on Izzy room, squish Izzy... Somebuddy
see why happened? Somebuddy say why Izzy stuck on that thingy? ::obviously
losing his attention span, and happy to have someone read what's going on,
proceeds to ask Walker about why no one helped him to get out of his room
underneath the destroyed bar. Izzy continues rambling on about his
experiences being trapped, giving an abrupt end to the interview:: > >>
Ladies and gentlemen, this offers the final and unyielding proof that Ms. Colton not only did not destroy the Blue Opal, as she was charged with doing, but that she *immediately* returned it to the staff of DoF. So I ask you...where is it now? What have they done with it? That should be a concern now.
No ill-tempered thug, she, hm? No destroyer of beloved property, and no thief. Certainly a woman of strong feelings and actions...but NOT guilty of those accusations. Well, then - I leave it to you, her peers, to decide what redress is owed, if any. But think carefully how you'd want your own selves considered and judged in her place, hm? All you can damn that woman for now is making a rather flamboyant gesture and shocking your sport. Was she
wrong, or right in doing that? Why did she do it? An argument I shall choose to leave for the rest of you, though I have given you proof in her own words. I have made my point, proven it, and now I leave the aftermath to you.
Fare well, dear friends, and enjoy the pugilism.
Cordially,
Walker.

Fare well, dear friends, and enjoy the pugilism.
Cordially,
Walker.

Re: Finis

From: Kyttn
Had she known about what was going on in the minds of the people of the Outback, Kyttn would have made her feelings known, as always, on the subject of how Shanni, her friend, had chosen to resolve her own despair about what she perceived to have been happening in the world of Fists fighting. But Kyttn was on a journey of farewell with her friend Karteran to say good-bye to one Strider, who, ages ago it seemed, was
an Emerald of the duel of fists.
If she had known amidst that sometimes harrowing, sometimes amazing, journey that yet another mourning would need to take place upon her return, it might have hampered the tasks which needed tending. Thankfully, she was unaware of Shanni's vanishing and unaware of all the ruckus Walker, had caused.
She would have not been surprised that one who had shown her the possibilities of zero-g had stirred up so much trouble on behalf of one wild girl. But Shanni had always provoked strong feelings in people. Kyttn had many times opposed Shanni's position, but always, Shanni had remained her friend. It didn't matter if when the Blue had apparently been destroyed, that Kyttn thought it was wrong -- Shanni was still worthy of friendship. It wouldn't
matter if the Blue were found to be whole and hale -- Kyt would still believe Shanni went about getting across her message in the wrong way.
But that was Shannon Colton and that was why Kyttn would mourn her passing -- if such it was -- when she heard of it; not because she was right or wrong but because they were friends.
It didn't matter what the collective sport would think of Shanni -- Kyttn would always miss her. She would not miss the tantrums or the accusations, but she would miss the raw pleasure of dueling with Shanni, the first opponent she'd ever fought in Fists and the first win Kyttn had ever garnered.
Nothing changed that, no matter how the world wound on.
But thankfully, Kyttn remained unaware of any controversy -- able to focus on her task (not a small one, mind you) -- right up until Walker contacted Karteran as he and Kyt went on their journey in that far off place.
((note: Not a post on the kiosk -- thank you again Bob ;* -- but a bit of storyline for the readers' enjoyment.))
