Letter of Intent to the Community
Date: 12/28/97 5:51 AM Pacific Daylight Time
From: Moralitor
Overlord, Barons and Warlords of DoS,
This morning I write each and every one of you so that my intentions to challenge the Overlord can be made public and reasons known to all. This intent has no legal binding on the Overlord to answer, but is more of a public plea to the community to allow the dueling ring to decide the issues that currently prevail in the Arena.
With the current political situation in the Arena, I expect, as does Huma Dragonbane, and proved by Ulath Fici, that a wave of challenges shall come forth for my ring. I would state right now that this wave of challenges is something I expected, and so am not shying away from. I only wish to see if the community as a whole can allow the dueling ring to decide the issue before this flood happens.
Recently a group of Barons from Questrion chose to align themselves Renegade to stand against the self serving interests of our Overlord. Interests that are well known to the community. Personal records and personal glory. There are those of us in House Questrion that believe the titles, Overlord and Baron mean that you give up individual desires and goals and serve the community as a whole. With the loyal stable of Barons that Dalamar had
interceeding in his behalf, we chose to serve the community and become your voice against these intercessions.
Well, it seems the community has found our actions to be self serving and many have done much in the last week to bring dishonor to the House Questrion name. This is something that I can not, and will not stand for. This is why I intend to challenge the Overlord, so that the dueling ring can decide the truth in this matter.
What I ask this morning, is that those Warlords who would challenge me for the right to wear this ring, wait until I have posted my challenge to the Overlord. This would be an act of honor on your part, and nothing I can force you to do as a Baron. It is but a simple request. I will only say, that should you honor my wishes in this matter, and should I fail in unseating the Overlord, I will entertain your challenges every evening that there is
sanctioned dueling, until you either unseat me, or I exhaust your desires for my ring.
To you, Overlord, I would ask you accept this challenge, once made official with the posting of the standings, so that a true test under the eyes of the Gods can determine who is right, and who is wrong in this matter. Lets take it to the dueling ring where it belongs m'lord Dalamar.
Respectfully,
Moralitor the Black

Pausing before the ancient corkboard, a smile quirks at the edge of her mouth. The commoner takes up the quill hanging on its ribbon and pens a short note.
Honorable Baron Moralitor The Black.
In perusing your missive, it strikes me that in requesting the warlords to withhold any challenges to thee before thee canst make official challenge to the Overlord, thee are in essence requesting an unhindered road to the mantle of the Overlord. The mantle of the Overlord carries a heavy burden and the road to it should be frought with challenge.
Cordially,

The black and silver robed mage walked into the arena, looking up at the post he made to the community and the time that it was posted. He then slips a parchment from his robes, reading it over and noting the time that the challenge to his ring came. He looked back up at the message he had left, then to the parchment once more.
"I do believe this challenge came quicker than Questrion showing it's support of you in your most recent plight, Lady Alais Graham 'd Nitesong Sidhe. The next time your in need, I will make sure to ask Valmion to act quicker," the mage says quietly to himself, but the tone of utter disgust evident in the words.
The mage speaks a soft musical incantation, sending word to the Lady Winters as to her schedule this weekend, for this was one match he wanted to get behind him quickly, before he let the Lady Alais Graham 'd Nitesong Sidhe know what he thought about her appreciation of Questrion's service to her.

Baronal Challenges:--------------------------------------------Any Warlord must defeat 10 different Warlords. These are accumulated "Peer Wins" and do not have to be in succession. The Warlord must provide the following list to the Standings Keeper when making a Baronal challenge...List of 10 defeated peers and the dates of those matches.Upon verification the challenge will proceed using the date of submission with regard to the "Universal terms of Challenge".::wonders where it states no peerwins to challenge a renegade::::knows it is intercession free but peerwins are required::

Members of the Community,
I would like to help clear up the current situation. Moralitor posted an *intent* to challenge me, because he could not make an officialy challenge at the time. The reason for this was that the standings had not been posted yet after my defense against Lady Topaz. So, knowing that he would soon most likely be challenged, he begged the community to leave him be so that he could have a free shot at me. Shortly after this, Lady Alais 'd Nitesong
Sidhe challenge Moralitor for his ring. Now, there is no challenge against me currently, as Moralitor was challenged before he could challenge me. Alais and Moralitor will be facing off on this Sunday at 10 PM if I am not mistaken, as that is what Alais informed me of. I hope that clears some of this up for everyone.
sincerely,
