::he takes a deep breath and sighs....knowing that what he is doing is right and the reasons behind of his own doing::

Lords and Ladies of the Duel of Swords,
::takes a deep sigh and begins to write::

What do I say? How do I write this in a way that I can make it to the end of the missive and walk away?
I came to the Duels and was completely o'ertaken by the awe of battle and the glory of mastery of the blade...and I made many friends through this wonderful journey and unfortunately failed them all. My feelings and thought to strong to be held, I went my own way....as I must go my own way now.
Despair has locked me in its deepest grip, thoughts of oblivion mixed with rage and pain plague my thoughts and I cannot go on anymore. I leave this night for the Duchy of Ezogaer...where I will draw the bridge up behind me and lock down the gates upon myself and attempt to find the being I thought I was.....mayhaps...one day....I will return.
Till that day, I will miss the Rings........and all of you......my friends especially. May you all find Honor and Skill in your blades. Hopefully I will also.

Adonai,
While I've only known ya fer about five months, I've found that yer opinions on the stuff that goes on in the DoS are similar to mine. Yer presence will be missed in the rings, as your fiery commentary always spiced up a dull eve. Good luck in your endeavors, Uziel, and I look forward to the day that you come waltzing back into the arena like yer on top o' the world.

Duke,
We have come far my *friend* You more rapidly than I yet to the same point.
I know that you, as I love this place and its peoples. I know we have the same mindset on many issues and yet, we differ on how to accomplish our goals. Indeed it is discouraging to have ones hopes dashed upon the rocks and that is what I have seen with yours.
Mayhap in time you shall find that which you have sought these many months. I only hope that what you find will be that which we together strove for.
I do know the meaning of the AsC, and hope the simplicity from which it sprang, will again one day, bring you back to RhyDin with a renewed spirit and a change of heart. Until that day my friend know that I am and always will be,

Adonai.
This is going to sound harsh, but then, harsh words have always been your favorite, have they not?
I am terribly disappointed that you would quit so easily. So there are troubles in the dueling community. So there is apathy from many corners. Does that mean you should fall victim to it as well? Demons take all the lousy opinions Adonai... you are a grand dueler, that is why you should stay. Who cares what poor opinions others have of you? The first opinion you should concern yourself with is your own. If you leave because the spark has left the Arena, then you take a bit of that spark with
you.
I hereby state for the record that I shall never retire. I may miss a week, perhaps even two, but I shall never willingly lay my sword to the side and say "no more"
The only way to fight the apathy is to shout to the heavens, to work the crowds, to do everything you can to bring back the excitement that lured people like me to the Arena in the first place.
I will miss the loud-mouthed Warlord that you were, Duke Uziel.

Thank you all my friends.....but I leave the duels not as quickly as I had thought I would...after contemplation upon my responsibilities, here and in my my own province I have found that I am still of need to be here....and that some of my problems with staying do not outweigh my pledge to my House, the Rings, nor my friends.
After much thought last eve, and a long conversation with very wise patron I shall not name, I saw that my leaving was the act of a coward, and realized that the problems, with myself, and in the Rings would not change with my hiding from the rest of the realm and waiting for them to bury themselves amidst the rubble, nor would running from them make them any farther away or mean less to me.
I toiled through the night last eve, in the smithy of the Duchy, working a piece of wrought iron into steel, my mind reforging itself as I did so, I spent all night in one endevor, forming and tempering the steel..........edging and sharpening the blade, afixing the grip and pommel....and unlike myself.......I was able to make something new....a new broadsword that I have named Belief, in hopes that I will find it and make right the things that have plagued me.
My apologies to those that were happy I was leaving.
