After the commotion.

::click... clock... click... clock... the peal of bootheels echoes throughout the hall, fluttering along the domed roof and skittering off the walls. The arena was empty, spent. The air was stale, heavy with scents of sweat, loss, and old excitement. But mostly, it reeked of burnt flesh.

The waterclock on the wall read 4:38.

It wasn't the rancid stench that drew the red-cloaked one, though that would be a good guess. It wasn't the sporting events of a few hours earlier in the night, tournaments were not exactly in his repitoir. It was a single scream out of many, a single feral cry that echoed off these very walls... through Rhydin, and right to his skull.

Baghiira.

She was here. Even as the fiery one finally stepped into the arena, he could discern through the charred odor her particular scent. It was unmistakable to him, after all, he created it. Those solid steps stalked from the door through the rings, picking around the splintered trench ripping a swath through the hardwood floors from the last ring to the door. He chose the left side, for there was another gaping hole leading down to the bare dirt to
the right. Finally he arrives at one part of the wall, the panelling torn down in a wide circle, the edges and stone behind were crisply black. The odor drifted most strongly from the pile of rubble laying at the base of this hole in the wall. He cranes his neck, bending that dead gaze down to the debris. The tip of a boot kicks once, scattering charred boards in a puff of black soot and revealing a still sticky corpse. Oddly, the body beneath
doesn't move like the dry, brittle sticks of burned cadavers. No, this one was full of moisture and barely damaged, but death-still under the covering of charcoal.

He dragged her unceremoniously out by one leg, scraping an ebony dust trail in an undulating path to the front door. ::
