Brute of the Week: Catchup!

Brute of the Week…it may not be the most prestigious award the Outback had to offer, but it succeeded in recognizing those patrons who performed above and beyond the others in any given week. After Kyttn had stopped selecting the weekly winner, Trace Williams, a man who didn't even work in the Outback, had volunteered his services. His apparent disappearance, however, along with contract difficulties involving the
company that produced the award buckles, meant that the prize hadn't been given out for several weeks.
Seeking to rectify the situation, Rask and other Outback staff began to do research, seeking out a new company to create the physical manifestation of the award. It hadn't been easy, and several firms had offered their services along with quotes and contracts, but either they didn't seem the right fit for the Outback or their products were on the shoddy side. After narrowing the competition, however, the staff finally settled on the
Rochlin-Howard Corporation; not only did they produce a quality plaque (it seemed better to give out something that could hang on a wall rather than the buckles which were more apt for putting on a shelf) but the service was definitely right. With guaranteed delivery each week along with refunds if the award was damaged or late upon reception, the slightly higher cost became less of a detriment. To start, they had a big order to fill.
The plaques themselves were nothing really ornate or gaudy. A gunmetal gray nameplate rested upon a deep cherry-wood base, with the dueler's name and the week engraved in the metal. The Outback logo also adorned the nameplate, along with the words "Brute of the Week hereby awarded to:" before the actual name of the dueler.
Nine weeks had passed since the last BoW had been given out and only one of those weeks passed without a Brute distinguishing themselves. The recipients, were their mailing addresses known, would receive their plaques at their homes (or places of business). The others could pick them up in the Outback and would hopefully be notified of their selection by word of mouth or the posting of names at the Outback's entrance.
Going over the list in his hand and the reasons for the selections in his mind, Matt was glad the awards were finally being handed out.

For the week of 8/23-8/26, Jesse Troyan (ex-Diamond and all around egomaniac) had won for his thrashing of all but one dueler he faced.

The week of 8/30-9/2, Bane, the dueler who'd won Diamond in the latest Quest only a week ago, notched up 3 wins in one night without losing in a week where nobody else really did anything of note.

RJ Winston, from 9/6-9/9, went up against 3 of the Outback's best and soundly thrashed two of them, losing to the third by a slim margin. The award was his for his efforts and successes.

Two weeks later, 9/20-9/23, Jen Star equaled the feat Bane accomplished only a few weeks earlier, securing herself one BoW award.

A 6-0 performance for the week of 9/27-9/30 meant that Kheldar would get an award for himself, as well as some nice additions to his win column.

Goon, from 10/4-10/7, only dueled one night but pounded everyone into the ground, Goon-style. The choice that week was clear.

With two more awards to hand out, Lady Illusia became one of the lucky two for her performance in the week of 10/11-10/14 where she started her walk on up to her current Ruby rank.

The previous week, 10/18-10/21, was definitely the most difficult as far as selecting a winner. Nearly everyone that was nominated had performed the same in the rings making it quite difficult to choose a Brute. In the end, Sarah Hunter won out and received the Brute plaque; a relative newcomer to the rings who found the strength to go the distance of a fifteen round match and still come away with the win was impressive enough to warrant her
selection.

*((Note, only the names of the winners are posted up, not the reasons, as far as the IC setting goes))
