The scroll had been placed right where he'd find it, on a table in the Outback just as he was finishing up a match. He'd barely noticed Jaycy's retreating form and after reading her message, he went after her.
Matthew Simon,
I said I would be back, and so I am. As I am officially allowed to challenge once more, I hereby issue challenge for the right to hold the Black Opal, ShadoWeaver.
Jaycynda Ashleana
That's what her note had said; simple and short, as the previous one had been, just a short month before. Neither time had she said a word to him about a challenge. Neither time had she approached to talk about it. And the woman he met in the ring? It wasn't the Jaycy he knew. Her eyes were dark, cold. Her demeanor focused, almost cruel. Not five minutes after she'd laid that scroll on the table, they climbed inside a ring with Rask
observing. If she was intent on going through with this, she'd do it on his terms and his terms were right here, right now. And even before they began, he knew that if he bested her this night, facing her another was almost guaranteed.

Twice she had been stopped in her goal. Twice she had met Matt for the Black Opal, and twice had been unable to claim it.
She had come in, simply to notify Matthew and Rask of her intent to challenge, yet five minutes after leaving notice, she was facing him in the ring. The first match was close, but the second, she didn't have a chance.
It upset her to lose again, and so quickly. She wasn't ready, she was out of practice ... she was full of excuses. She had been confident of her victory when stepping in the ring against Matt a second time, and for a second time she had been denied.
The gypsy sneered as she looked out her office window, punching the wall. The hole placed there served as a sign of her frustration and anger.
The dark woman that was Jaycy, yet was not, wanted that Opal, and would not rest until she had it.
She would be back.
